  1. Started by Connorbear,

Slim pickings now. With Walker and Gafney gone, here is what is left: Bryan Johnson (looks like Buffalo or Washington) Reche Caldwell Drew Carter DJ Hackett Marty Booker Robert Ferguson (if we are desperate) Brandon Lloyd (would need to be a minimum contract - not sure what he brings to us) I wonder how much longer JA is going to wait to jump in. We cannot go into the draft with the 5 receivers we have now. Peace

I think the Lions are going to be a lot better than they have been. I am quite concerned that we might lay an egg tomorrow. If their defensive line plays up to the billing they are getting, and if our offensive line plays as bad as they did in preseason, we will not get a running game going, Cutler will be forced to pass too often, and I smell an upset. If we can at least run block effectively and get some decent yardage on the ground, then I think we will be fine. I must admit, for the first time this preseason, I am getting a bit concerned. Hopefully the Bears will come out and prove my concerns unfounded.

So as of right now this is what our Bears look like on paper. Not bad but we can get better IMHO the players listed in Bold are locks to make the team, the underlined ones are the first to be cut, but the others are a toss up as to who stays and who goes QB Cutler, McCown, Blanchard RB Forte, Bush, Allen, Unga, TE Bennett, Maneri, Rodriguez, Adams, Eldridge, Miller, Onobun WR Marshall, Jeffery, Bennett, Weems, Anderson, Golden, Moss, Toliver, OT Bushrod, Webb, Carimi, Scott,Brandon, OG Slauson, Brown, Williams, Britton, Riley, Dennis, C Garza, Boggs, DE Peppers, McClellin, Wootton, McBride, Ozougwu, Moore, Whi…

http://chicagobearsfanforum.com/blog/?p=256 The Bears * Very slow news time for the NFL. So ESPN's John Clayton fills the gap by listing the top seven non-moves of the offseason. You guessed it. The Bears were near the top. 2. Bears don't improve passing offense Coming off their 2006 Super Bowl run, the Bears naturally had to stick with Rex Grossman at quarterback. But the offense dropped to 29th in the NFL last season. Since then, what the Bears did to fix things looked like a caulking job at old Soldier Field. They invested little money to improve the offense. Grossman and Kyle Orton were re-signed for backup salaries ($3 million a yea…

Here is an article about SMC's transformation from stack.com with some videos. http://www.stack.com/2014/05/13/how-nfl-li...lin-got-ripped/ He looks much better than the comparison pic from the original article. For those looking to do the same workout, I've attached the workout plan: scot_prohgaska_workout.pdf

Just for SCS Since there is no answer I've seen yet for a kick off returner, how about bringing this guy in for a look. Jarryd Hayne 26 years old is a speedster rugby player. 6-2" 220 He would be best suited to play special teams if anywhere to start off. http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/11703333...chase-nfl-dream

http://www.rotoworld.com/articles/nfl/4004...n-low-down?pg=1 Interesting article about some possible bargains. Even more interesting that alot of these guys match up with our needs and would be somewhat of an upgrade. Hopefully Emery will find some cheap talent.

Apparently, Wimbley was the Bears top target in 2011 FA. However, he was resigned by the Raiders prior to the Bears getting a chance. This is pure McClure and the speculation is the Bears will be high on him again this year. They think he's the perfect compliment opposite Peppers. Probably will cost between 5-7M a year. I know we've talked about him a lot but I figure at this point, he deserves his own thread. I assume he will be release by the Raiders shortly!

Let's say Pace and Nagy think their best chance to remain employed is to improve defense. The weaknesses are Nichols, Urban, and Quinn, IMHO. Would something like this draft turn the tide? Your Picks: Round 1 Pick 20: Christian Barmore, DT, Alabama (A) - Urban on the bench Round 2 Pick 20: Dylan Moses, ILB/OLB, Alabama (A) - Utility knife on D Round 3 Pick 19: Tommy Togiai, DT, Ohio State (A) - Pressures Nichols to start Round 5 Pick 20: Joshua Kaindoh, DE/OLB, Florida State (A+) - Super long, pressures Quinn to start Round 6 Pick 20: Jake Curhan, OT, California (A+) - I had to do it Round 6 Pick 34 (COMP): Warren Jackson, WR, Colorado State (A+) - Huge u…

  13. Will Dent ever make it in? If Hampton is in, Dent should be as well. There are very few Defensive Ends who were Super Bowl MVPs. 34½ sacks in 2 years is Madden-silly. http://www.chicagobears.com/news/NewsStory.asp?story_id=4289

What does everyone think is going to happen with Barkley? I didn't watch the second half of the Vikings game but saw he got pulled...that seems like an ominous sign. Also, watching "Lunch With Larry" and he is saying he does not see Barkley coming back and forecast Hoyer and Shaw in the mix....interesting view from a somewhat insider that he would say so blatantly he did not see Barkley in the mix.

  17. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2014/...g-into-his-30s/ Brandon Marshall sees Jerry Rice as a model for playing into his 30s Posted by Michael David Smith on May 23, 2014, 9:37 AM EDT Jerry Rice AP Brandon Marshall, the Bears’ 30-year-old receiver, just signed a contract that keeps him in Chicago for four more seasons. Marshall says he already has a model for the way a receiver can stay on top into his 30s. Marshall noted at his press conference announcing his new contract that Jerry Rice showed that players in their early to mid-30s can continue to play at a high level. Rice led the NFL in receiving yards for three straight seasons at ages 31, 3…

From Peter Kings Monday Morning QB - 10 things I think I think http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2008/writ...3/Week12/4.html 9. I think we learned this about the Cardinals Sunday: They will never win a game at Giants Stadium in January if they have to play there. Come to think of it, what NFC team will challenge the Giants in the NFL Championship Game? I'll tell you the best team, and Cris Collinsworth agrees: Dallas. Number two for me: Chicago. Talk about respect from out of nowhere. I hope the team can live up to the "hype". *** Sorry about the triple post, my computer went a little nuts.

Bears trade 1st round pick to Steelers for their 1st, 3rd, and 5th. Bears trade Mark Anderson to Lions for their 6th round pick. Bears sign Charlie Batch to a 1 year, $2.5 million deal. Bears want Hank Baskett, but he's a RFA. Eagles want a 3rd rounder, Bears ponder, but then say f*** it. Bears let Booker and Lloyd walk. Bears move Wolfe and Davis permanently to special teams. 1 Kenny Britt, WR, Rutgers ---physical, good hands, reminds me of Plaxico Burress in terms of size. 2 Herman Johnson, OG, LSU ---huge guy (6'7 350), great pass and run blocker. I was reading some stat that he only gave up 2 QB pressures all year. 3 Fenuki Tupou, RT, Oregon …
