McBride can feel like a 5th-round pick now Trumaine McBride figured all along he would be a fifth-round draft pick. At least he’s been compensated like one. The cornerback was the Bears’ biggest winner in the NFL’s performance-based pay system that rewards players for being on the field. The system adopted in 2002 provides the highest payouts to players who play the most and earn the least. As a seventh-round draft pick, 221st overall, McBride received a signing bonus of $55,250 for his four-year contract with a base salary of $285,000 last season. The payout received in performance-based pay? In excess of $200,000 according to two league sources, meaning McBr…

  3. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/categ...or-mill/page/2/ Packers next to host Demetrius Bell Former Bills tackle Demetrius Bell is the No. 2-rated unrestricted free agent left unsigned on the PFT Hot 100. He’s a 28-year-old, starting-caliber left tackle who’s been unlucky when it comes to avoiding the injury bug. But Packers G.M. Ted Thompson knows a potential bargain when he sees one, and Bell fits the bill. Per Joe Buscaglia of WGR 550 in Buffalo, Bell will be visiting Green Bay later this week. As a Packer, Bell could provide competition at left tackle if the team cuts the cord on longtime starter Chad Clifton. Clifton turns 36 this offseason, is …

http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/footb...story?track=rss Packers coach on Marshall joining Bears: 'They definitely got better' PALM BEACH, Fla. -- Green Bay Packers coach Mike McCarthy has been watching the Chicago Bears’ offseason moves with interest, and was particularly intrigued to see the Bears acquire receiver Brandon Marshall. “Brandon is a problem for defenses matching up,” he said. “He’s a No. 1 receiver, he’s a hard guy to single up and play. They definitely got better. "Plus, he has the relationship with (Jay) Cutler. There is definitely value in that. It will complement their run game. They ran the ball very, very well at th…

  9. Jones has suitors but wants to stay with Bears Recommend (4) Comments March 1, 2009 BY BRAD BIGGS bbiggs@suntimes.com Kevin Jones never used his knee as an excuse last season, but he was eight months removed from surgery to repair a torn right anterior cruciate ligament when the season began. Now the running back is ready to show what kind of player he still is five years after being a first-round pick of the Detroit Lions. RELATED STORIES No reaching for the stars ''This is Kevin Jones' comeback year,'' Jones said Saturday from Blacksburg, Va., where he was visiting former college teammates at Virginia Tech. 10. Bears Defense Needs to Attend Workouts – For the Good of the Offense Sean Jensen at the Chicago Sun-Times recently interviewed Bears quarterback Jay Cutler and asked him about the workouts they were planning (http://www.suntimes.com/sports/football/bears/5398418-419/jay-cutler-bears-offense-needs-to-get-together-despite-lockout.html). To the surprise of many, only the offensive players were planning to workout together: “Cutler said the workouts would be for offensive players only. “’I mean, those defenders have been in the system for eight years, nine years,’ Cutler said. ‘What are they gonna do? “’What am I going to tell Lach?’ Cutler said, referrin…

Like many I have the Bears Official Website as one of my Home Pages, the primary (have Vista ;-() I was amazed at the change in the site. For years visiting other sites I always felt the Bears site was very "low tech" compared to some others. Now, all I can say is WOW. They have done a great job of improving the site.

Its not just the media that has restrictions but, the fans also. The security was asking fans to not record anything but you can take all the still photos you want. The rumors about Fox being a touch paranoid are true.
