Both players aren't happy where they are. The Bears need help at WR. The Bengals need a playmaker at LB. We all know this trade would never, ever happen. But if it was offered, who would turn it down and why?

Our WR corps was a big problem going into this draft but I must say I am very pleased with this pick. I know a lot of us would have preferred Doucet but I think Bennett is exactly the type of WR we needed. Good hands, good route runner, tough, not afraid to go over the middle, good blocker. Thats exactly what we needed. We have our burners in Hester and Bradley and we have our bigger targets for the most part in Olsen and Clark, or even Monk or that other TE we drafted but we needed a guy like this. I heard him compared to Hines Ward a few times and thats exactly what we need. Jay Cutler was also lobbying hard for the Broncos to go after him because of the succ…

Points of View, May 18, 2008 May 18th, 2008 Tom Shannon Posted in Points of View | No Comments » Edit | The Bears * Lovie Smith answers more questions: If Devin Hester played for another team, would you kick the ball to him? Fabian C. Gilroy, California If I was a coach from the opposing team, yeah, I would kick to him. You can’t let one guy take you out of your game plan. I’d have a hard time going in and telling my team, “Hey, this guy is so good we’re not going to kick to him,” so yeah, I would. Of course, it’s easy for me to say that. Translation: “Other coaches have no guts. They back away and let one man beat them …

I love the fact that the original Joniak calls are in there. I swear, with a little offensive help last year, the Bears would have had a winning record. Even with all the injuries, they still would have been in contention. There is only the Dallas game out of all the losses that I felt the Bears were not in it. Every other game could have been the Bears' game with a little luck and a better offense.

Brian Urlacher will attend the Bears' mandatory three-day minicamp starting Friday, the linebacker told the Tribune Thursday evening. Urlacher, who has missed all of the team's voluntary off-season activities up to this point, had been lobbying for more money than the Bears offered in a one-year contract extension. The deal was believed to include $5 million up front, and $1 million added to his base salary per season granted he participated in 85 percent of the snaps. The extension through 2012 also was believed to include a base salary of $7.5 million in the last season. The Bears likely would reworked that if Urlacher is still active Urlacher signed a nine-ye…

  15. Packers: Favre has "itch" to play GREEN BAY — Brett Favre has the itch to play football again, but the Green Bay Packers apparently prefer for the legendary quarterback to scratch it elsewhere. An NFL source told the State Journal on Wednesday afternoon that Favre — or agent James "Bus" Cook on his behalf — contacted the Packers "within the past few weeks" about returning, and the conversation ended in him asking the club for his release. The Packers refused. Favre has communicated his potential desire to coach Mike McCarthy, but talks have not advanced to a substantive stage, a Packers source told Mortensen. The league source, who spoke to the State Jou…

From the Bears website: http://www.chicagobears.com/news/NewsStory.asp?story_id=4871 What were your impressions of Danieal Manning at the nickel position in offseason workouts? Danieal picked up everything at that position real quick. Now we have a guy playing underneath who has athletic ability, speed and quickness. He’s also a physical guy that we know can support the run. I’m very pleased right now the way he’s picked things up and progressed throughout OTAs. I think he’s going to be a great nickel for us. ****************************************************************** We all know the coaches aren't going to call out a guy in public nor do I wa…

Redskins get DE Taylor from Dolphins after Daniels goes down ASHBURN, Va. -- Jason Taylor wanted out of Miami, and Bill Parcells seemed only too happy to trade the "Dancing with the Stars" defensive end. So when the Washington Redskins lost a starting lineman to a season-ending injury Sunday, a significant swap quickly got done. The Redskins gave the Dolphins a second-round pick in 2009 and a sixth-round choice in 2010 for Taylor, who is leaving the only NFL team he's known. The six-time Pro Bowl defensive end -- who was the 2006 NFL Defensive Player of the Year -- fell out of favor in Miami after spending his offseason on a TV show rather than working…

http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/blog/shutdown_...l?urn=nfl,95401 Wednesday, Jul 23, 2008 9:31 am EDT Brett Favre might want to invest in his own cell phone By MJD It's not as poetically idiotic as Chris Henry getting arrested while wearing his own jersey, but this one's in the same neighborhood. Remember those tampering charges that the Packers filed against the Vikings? And remember how I thought it would be difficult for the Packers to prove that Favre had made inappropriate contact with the Vikings? Well, that assumed that Brett Favre wasn't using a Packers-issued cell phone to make those calls to the Vikings. As it turns out, Favre may have done…
