As we all know or at least are convinced Jerry let the wrong RB go after the 2006 Super Bowl run. Benson didn't pan out in 2007 and ended up injured. The run game was non-existent last year. In 2006 we enjoyed a 1-2 punch of Jones and Benson. IMHO Benson's only good season in chicago. Entering the Draft we had Benson, Wolfe, and AP. Not long after drafting Forte Benson is let go. Leaving us with Forte expected to be the feature back along with AP as backup and Wolfe in spot duty. Then comes the signing of Kevin Jones at a very reasonable one year deal. Pace talked a lot today about drafting players with top intangibles, who fit the positive "vibe" in the locker room, and wanting to immediately get better. I'm taking that to heart here when I try a draft that makes sense and that Pace might be trying to pull off based on that criteria. #Bears Kyle Long just told reporters he's been told he'll play tackle next year. Doesn't know which side yet. #BearsTalk Do you buy it? Can he improve having a off season to prepare? Looking like we will be upgrading the RG this offseason. Draft or FA, they need more strength to help both Grasu inside and Long outside.

Well there are areas of the game to pick at but several positives. 1. NFC North Champs 2. Clinched a Playoff spot 3. Hester with the Record in record time 4. Big win 40-14 a 26 point win should have been 33 point win but I'll take it. 5. We walk away healthy. 6. We may have put Favre away for good.

The way the rules favor QB's, and recievers, for more points, might be good for us if we committe ourselves to the run game. Since most defenses are preparing for this pass happy league in games and practice, we might have an advantage if we can keep running the ball like last week. Most teams might be more prepared for the pass than the run. So lets run at least 30 times against Detroit. Also on defense for us, I am liking the way we play in the red zone the last few years. It seems to me that many of the points scored on us come from outside of the red zone, once their O is in our red zone we see things better. Rusty Jones was the Bears' strength and conditioning coach from 2007 to 2012 after having been a "secret weapon" (according to Marv Levy) for the Buffalo Bills for 20 years. He retired after the 2012 season, and I remember how he emphasized flexibility and individual nutrition programs.
