  1. http://www.blogdownchicagobears.com/2009/0...ars-draft-hand/ That is Mike Wallace talking. Personally, if all of the other top receivers are gone by this point, Wallace would probably be my next top pick for a WR. I really like him. He has great speed (4.33 40) and quickness, and is a very explosive player. He is a legit deepthreat, but is kind of raw. However, he's got potential to be a really solid weapon in the passing game, and he's a great returner. Also, JA talked the other day about how they don't want a "vanilla cone" when they pick. They want someone with a swirl, some sort of twist. I thought that was a pretty good analogy, as I think it shows …

This draft seems realistic to me as far as the Bears view players and needs. 2-Johnson/DE/Georgia Tech 3-Beckwith/LB/LSU 4-Barden/WR/Cal Poly 5a-Turner/WR/USC 5b-Hamlin/FS/Clem 6-Brewster/OT/Ball State 7a-Fletcher/CB/Iowa 7b-McCall/FB/Ala They view defense a priority, they think they can get DBs in later rounds, and draft a couple of WRs.

  3. I like the look of the cover, they went with Troy Polamalu & Larry Fitz in the first dual cover we've seen. Nice look to it and the splatter effect on the box looks pretty good. I am going to make my own custom one so the selection of the two doesn't bother me. Thoughts? Credit to AlterEgo of VSN on finding it http://www.virtualsportsnetwork.com/forum/...ead.php?t=17340

  4. Started by defiantgiant,

So I've tried to put together one last mock, using (for the most part) players the Bears have been linked to in the past few weeks. I used CBS Sports' rankings as a rough guide for where each prospect will be available, and I've linked each guy to his profile on their site, except for Mike Mitchell, who doesn't have one. All right, enough said, here's what I'd like to see on draft weekend: 2.49) Juaquin Iglesias - WR - Oklahoma Simply catches everything thrown to him. Hands are almost on par with Robiskie/Nicks. Fast enough to get separation, but still goes 6'1" 210 lbs. Projects well to either a #2 or slot receiver, giving the Bears some flexibility if Bennet…

I just heard on the "Tirico & Van Pelt" show that Arizona is now considering "2nd round pick and other options" for Boldin. Not sure what kind of contract he is looking for though...

    2. Brian Robiskie, WR, Ohio State ---Robiskie falls, and all this Wallace and Massaquoi talk is a huge smokescreen. 3. Darcel McBath, FS, Texas Tech ---FS who is of solid value here. 4. Henry Melton, DE, Texas ---Pure 4-3 DE's are hard to find in this draft. Melton's physical attributes fit that bill pretty well. 5. Mark Parson, CB, Ohio ---CB depth and of good value. 5. Aaron Kelly, WR, Clemson ---WR depth- big redzone target at 6'5 205. 6. Willie VanDeSteeg, DE, Minnesota ---DE depth. 7. Lydon Murtha, OT, Nebraska ---OT depth. 7. Conredge Collins, FB, Pittsburgh ---McKie is brutal. Period. Thoughts?

6 years, $41.7 million. All of it guaranteed. per ESPNnews. Mortensen also says that Tyson Jackson to KC at #3 is a lock.

Is there any way trading our second and another round pick isnt a no-brainer. 1st off, past Robiski, i dont see the WR at 49 to be worth much of anything. Boldin has like 4 years left of production and a with a great QB, the rest of our bums will probably be 100x better. I think we take the absolute best player available then at 99 and fill our holes with the late rounds. And for god sakes draft a FB, Sutherland would be my choice....

Talking w/ a fellow bear fan, and he brought up Michael Johnson. At one time, we seemed to be tied to MJ w/ our top pick. Since then we traded away our pick, but also, MJ seems to have slip. I told him I do not think he will slide all the way to our pick, but his arrow does seem to be pointing down as Kiper, McShay and Mayock all have him falling past us. Anyway, what are ya'lls thoughts. Top two knocks on him appear to be that he is still a bit raw and he may never be great against the run. At the same time, he would appear to be an ideal fit for us. We have a scheme that places speed above run stoppers. We have one of the top DL coaches in the league. Oh …

On ESPN1000, JD just reported that we really want Derrick Williams out of Penn State at 49. Yuck. Give me MoMass over Williams.

  12. Very intersting. Angelo did say it isn't like the Cutler talks, specifically mentioning that it isn't just the compensation, but the money which is an issue. Pay close attention to this one though, imo.

Louis Delmas Would look great in a Bears Jersey, especially since we have a more experienced Aaron Rodgers, Percy Harvin, Pettigout and Stafford to contend with next year.

The best players available as listed by PFW. DE- Johnson/GeoTech/39th FS- Johnson/Ala/47th OT- Meredith/SC/49th WR- Williams/PS/51th OG- Robinson/OKL/56th Along as with this higher rated players there is still WRs Ingelsias-Barden-Collie-Thomas-Murphy-Ogletree-Wallace DEs left Sidbury-Brandon Williams-Melton-Kyle Moore FSs left Burton-Cleamons-Hamlin-Chip Vaughn OGs left Robinson-Urbrik-TJ Lang OTs left Parrish-Fulton-Cadagon There are several names left that some of you wanted us to take with the 49th pick, so I think we did good with the trade.

Cleveland took Robiskie and Massaquoi, so does that mean that Edwards could be had with a 3th this year and a 3rd next year maybe?

  17. At the beginning of the second round, the Bears told Ohio safety Michael Mitchell to stay by his phone because they planned to draft him at No. 49. But the Raiders beat them to it, taking Mitchell two spots earlier. "When [the Bears] did that, I was like, 'I'm going to be a Chicago Bear,' " Mitchell told the Raiders media during a teleconference. "That's what I was thinking." That's what the Bears were thinking, too, until Oakland raided their second-round cupboard http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/footb...,4716296.column Wow. Everyone was killing this pick when it was the Raiders. It will be interesting to see how he pans out.

I would have loved Sean Smith at 49, but I like this trade as well. Michael Johnson or Duke Robinson at 68, and then go WR at 99 AND 105. Thoughts?
