I was most disappointed once again with the results of the Hall of Fame balloting for enshrinement and Richard Dent being excluded once again. Dent as well all know was a key piece of the puzzle in the '85 season that we went on to win Super Bowl XX and Dent name the game's MVP as well. Dent is just as deserving if not more so then Bruce Smith, Lee Roy Selmon and you could include Alan Page in that conversation. The statistics that they have come up with prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that Dent is more than worthy however, the selection committee again fails to include one of the members of the Bears that has proven on the field that he earned and should be enshrined…

In doing a bit of research on other safeties, I came across Mike Brown's name. Honestly, as KC was so irrelevant this past year, I had not really taken notice to what Brown did. I didn't even know whether he was a starter all year or not. When I checked his stats, I couldn't believe it. Brown plays in, and started, all 16 games. He has not played the full 16 games since 2003. Brown had 103 total tackles, more than he ever had w/ the Bears, including 79 solo, which matches his high as a rookie. Yea, I realize tackles don't necessarily reflect overall play, but consider the injury relationship. A guy who could not stay healthy played all 16 games, and did …

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2010/...of-free-agents/ Bears sign a pair of free agents Posted by Mike Florio on February 22, 2010 6:35 PM ET Though the period for signing men whose contracts expired at the end of the 2009 season doesn't begin until March 5, players who have been released may be signed now. And so the Bears have announced the acquisition of tight end Richard Angulo and receiver Eric Peterman to one-year contracts. Angulo was out of football in 2009 after a five-year career that included stops in St. Louis, Minnesota, Chicago, and Jacksonville. On two prior occasions, Angulo spent time with new Bears offensive line coach Mike Tice…

In case you didn't hear, or know it was coming, Brian Westbrook was released (?) earlier today from the Philadelphia Eagles. Link.... http://www.philly.com/inquirer/breaking/sp..._Westbrook.html Weird thing I saw on NFL Network was something about how his release wouldn't go into effect until start of the next season(?). Don't understand. Is that so he can retire or something? And no this is not a post to advocate the Bears try and sign him. He's a great guy but not needed, just like LT.

Report: Olsen not on the trade block Posted by Gregg Rosenthal on March 3, 2010 8:33 PM ET After whispers about Greg Olsen's availability turned into a full-blown news report, it was almost inevitable a denial would emerge. This is a strong one. Sean Jensen of the Chicago Sun-Times writes the team not actively trying to trade Olsen. A league source has confirmed the report to PFT. Jensen writes that Mike Martz is still trying to wrap his mind around his new offensive pieces, and nothing has been decided. Of course, not actively trying to trade Olsen now isn't the same as not listening to offers in April. The impression is out there that some team coul…

Everyone is a spectator right now, 9 hours from opening of free agency. One source I trust said: "I expect the Bears to hit it big." source added: "This is it. There is no draft. They have to come out w/ 4 or 5 players. The #Bears will not be outbid. It's in their budget." All I can say is we haven't seen the #Bears, not under Jerry Angelo or anyone else, come out writing checks like that in free agency. So get your popcorn ready for tonight, or set your alarm. This will be interesting to watch. Can you imagine if they don't strike in FA?

Ryan Clark negotiated with the Pittsburgh Steelers this week to see if he could hammer out a longterm extension but that didn’t happen and the free agent is drawing pretty solid interest early in free agency. His agent Joel Turner declined to name the teams involved but said six clubs, including the Steelers, are involved at this point. Obviously, Arizona and Chicago would be on a very short list of teams seeking safeties with Miami and the New York Giants also in the market. Washington, where Clark used to play, could also be looking for a safety. “Everyone is gaga over Antrel Rolle,” Turner said. “Ryan is a better player. He’s got better numbers across the boa…

http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/footb...0,6170875.story Will Ta’ufo’ou was waived. The plan for now is using Adams in the backfield some. It's not to big of a deal to me since we rarely used a FB anyway.

Its not too often that NFL teams can have 3 former head coaches as assistant coaches for 2 consecutive seasons as usually someone comes a callin' for their services. This unique situation we have here is something that we should watch closely. As most of the nation think the Bears are a luck based bunch, the fact that these 3 guys have coached up a couple of players on this team speaks volumes for their expertise. Martz: He obviously has had a positive effect on Jay Cutler with him getting in the best shape of his career even during a lockout offseason and he clearly has a grasp of what Martz is trying to do which makes me wonder if the 2 had secret meetings during th…
