This O-line debate has me thinking back to the days of when I first started following the Bears and the draft(yes they did have face masks lol) and my earliest memories date back to 1966 and with that being said the Bears have only had one GM since that time who was hell bent on developing the o-line. Alright, let me start by saying I realize we went into the game banged up on D and we took even more injuries during the game. I get that and it's a reasonable excuse. But it's an excuse nonetheless. Who in this draft is going to be a blue chip player from day one and makes us a better team now? Chubb could be the guy but will not be there. Barkley could be consider that type of player, but he will not be there in almost any scenario. Next will be Nelson, a potential instant all pro type. He would give us strength at a key need and push the O in his first year to be better. Now we are at players we probably have the best shot at . IMHO this is what I think the Bears should do in the FA period if all possible. In the secondary Let M.Brown and McGowan go & get Sean Jones from Clev.and Asomugha from the Raiders Move Payne to SS and Vasher/Manning to the nickel DE see if Peppers is still there to Ogun WR get either C. Johnson. T.O or T.J. Hous, Bouldin or oneone to be the number one. Move Williams to LT, sign ST. Josh Woods a SS they got in last years UDFAs group that they keep calling a LB was the player that shined the most this weekend. He was on the PS all year, he played SS at Maryland, if he makes the regular roster this year, he may be the next SS.

At work today, I couldn't help but to sit back and think about the Bears future. Here's the way I see it. While our defense is aging, we do have some young, starting, good players: Briggs is 27. A. Brown is 29. Dvoracek is 25. Harris is 25. Idonije is 27. Vasher is 26. Tillman is 27. Payne is 24. Harrison is 24. Graham is 23. Our defensive back-ups have looked good for what they've done, too. Roach is 23. Steltz is 22. J. Williams is 24. McBride is 23. LaRocque is 22. Bowman is 23. Also, Urlacher, Briggs, Wale, Adams, and Urlacher still have some productive years left, too, IMO. Our Lads is run by former scouts and I look often at there opinions. 1. They had Fuller rated as the 5th best prospect 2. They had Ego as the 4th best DT 3. They had Sutton rated as the 5th best DT 4a They had Carey as there top rated RB 4b I could not find his name in the ratings. 6 Fales as the 13th rated QB 6 Donnerly as the top rated punter 7 Leno as the 12th best T UDA Jones as 4th best ILB UDA Lattimer as the 7th best ILB UDA Groy as 13th best G Im not saying they are smarter than anybody else but they have at least been in the War Room before.

Looking at the way this team has evolved the last 5 seasons, I feel it is in a transition phase. The transition phase is both mental and physical. The mental side of the coin belongs to the defense. I see a defense that is no longer willing to impose its will on the other team. It used to be the other team would choke, kowing we were going to make the play that would beat them. Now, we are reduced to the QB in the opposing huddle saying, "we got this". Our veterens need to step up and become what they once were. Looking at our line we have a lot of battles for positions this year. We have centers that can play Guard we have Guards that can play center, we have guards that can or are projected in the future to play tackle and we have tackles that can play guard. Our coaches will have their hands full trying to figure out who is the best fit to play where with all the new additions(in bold). So what are your thoughts of who should be where? Leno has gotten better each year but is still not even average. the only difference from Leno and Whitehair is the 2" difference in arm length, otherwise they are the same size player. I looked at last years OT class and the best OT were a little taller and they all had longer arms. The one closest to the size of Whitehair was T. Decker, his arm length is 1" longer than Whitehair. So here is what I think will happen, they will stick the best 5 OL on the field at the same time.
