Now that I've started to look at the draft more closely, I wanted to get some reaction to those who watched more college football than I did regarding a couple players who seem to fit what the Bears might want, but who I haven't heard mentioned much on this board: Max Unger, OL, Oregon - Started for four years, beginning at LT and finishing at center and can probably play every position on the line. Looking at his measurables and combine performance, I can't help but be reminded of Branden Albert last year, who played OG but everyone projected could play LT. Unger seems to offer the same ability, except you KNOW he can play OT. I keep seeing him go in the last first,…

I like Britton and Oher in the 1st, and each are well discussed, but are there any outside the box options to help our OL? Been speaking w/ a friend, and we were looking at Atlanta. Atlanta tendered two starting OL at 2nd round level. Both are very solid starters, and both are also still young. Harvey Dahl (RG) & Tyson Clabo (RT). Dahl is a solid starting OG. he is 27 and I believe started all year, and was part of Atlanta's solid OL. Clabo is also 27, and I think has started the last two years. But both are solid OL, still young, and w/ starting experience. It would cost a 2nd round pick to get one, but I am not sure there are any RTs I like in the…

There's been a lot made recently of the available free agent wide receivers. They each have their problems, obviously, but those have been pretty well discussed at this point. I wanted to start a different thread to discuss some trade options the Bears might pursue, if they determine our current options across from Hester aren't going to cut it. I'm not talking about guys who might be available for a blockbuster trade, like Braylon Edwards or Anquan Boldin. There are a number of receivers around the league who aren't street free agents, but could be available pretty cheaply via trade. If all it takes is a conditional second-day pick to get a guy, I think that's…

Does anyone else feel the media is pressuring the Bears to trade Tevin Jenkins? Something happened and they do not like him being first string RG. I've seen them say they are parading him for a trade. Why not embrace him. He was a highly ranked college draftee. The media has power to sway opinion and I hate seeing that.

At some point they’re going to have to adjust these low totals to account for our defense. We’ve given up over twenty five points dating back at least ten games while going 7-3 over the total our last ten. This year we’re a perfect 4-0 over the total with the only close one being in TB. The total for Thursday sits at 44 currently for those of y’all that wager.

First , I like to say kudos to Lemonej and LT2 3 for your damn good points of views on Angelo stats etc. I still think we can make the playoffs and do well with the help of a healthy forte at seasons end and Jay hopefully back for the playoffs (koolaid). But after this season what is the plan for next season and there after ? Let's start with the Angelo rumors of retiring which I think are not true. He is still signed for a couple more years I think . If he does retire I believe buddy Ruskell takes over. Will there be a new direction or steady the course ? Is martz going to re-up with us ? If he does decide to leave do we replace him with Tice or …

These are the guys who I watched play and think are NFL caliber players that are not being talked about as much as they should be. The list: Quarterbacks Brian Johnson Utah -his Height and durabilty are in question but he has taken snaps for 4 years and if you saw how he performed in the Sugar Bowl against Alabama you would think he has an ability to develop on the next level. Drew Willy Buffalo- his level of competition is in question but IMO he is a more polished prospect than the much more heralded Nate Davis of Ball State from the same conference(MAC). Mike Reilly Central Washington- his school alone and its location makes him over looked and at the S…

20: Kyle Long After looking at the board 21-49, there were no OT or OG that were rated higher than him. Only guy close was Warford. I don't buy he was the Target at 20, I think they couldn't find a viable trade buddy. Probably cuz Dolphins established that the draft value chart was to be ignored this year. I was hoping wed trade down, but whatever, or take Sharrif. One thing you cant argue is his bloodline. Chris Long took a while, but now hes great, so hey. Good luck to him. 50: Jon Bostic I like Bostic alot, however I was gonna lose my mind when my childhood hero Neal anderson announced the Bears drafted Arthur Brown. A ton of LBs went before Brown o…

I have to give Pace credit for his aggressiveness as a GM.He has traded in every draft he has had. He has made many mistakes but for us to come to the point of having probably the best young roster in the game, he had to have a helluva lot of hits. He signed Parkey last year to a big contract as Parkey was the 3rd best K in the league in 2017. He thought he had his man, he was wrong. Today he goes after a backup that has NFL experience for little of nothing, a 7th round 2021 pick. He brought in a kicking guru, Kohl and ends up signing two of his clients. Blewitt and now Pineiro. He identifies needs and addressing them. Last year WRs and this year RB and Ks. If Pineiro wor…

http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/chi-0...0,1624787.story I think this is a smart way to go about it. Williams is clearly the LT of the future, but after a injury-plagued first year, it makes some sense to have him at RT, learning and watching one of the best in recent years man the left side until he's ready to take over. Sounds like the Bears are making a real push.

Two things stood out to me when they spoke at the combine. Pace didn't make a total commitment to MT ( put off fifth year option until May)and spoke on the effort of improving the OL and TE spots besides potentially fixing the QB problem. Tells me he will add both draft picks and vets to get that done at TE and OL. Also that he has a plan at QB that if it materialized, he would move on from MT. Nagy said that he needed to adopt the offensive scheme to his personal. So had he did that last year, we may have had 2 or 3 more victories.

So I was curious about how many true hits and misses Pace has had over the last 6 years. Everyone talks about Trubisky, Shaheen (whiffs) or Jackson, Amos (hits), but what about all the others. Bullard and Grasu in the 3rd? Jordan Morgan? Langford and Ridley in the 4th? So I gave a value for each round (1st = 7 to 7th = 1), then either gave Pace credit for the hit (positive value), or negative for a miss. A player needs to play at least 50% of the snaps to be a hit. Using that basic criteria, Pace is a -2 overall, meaning an autodraft or monkey could've done better. That does not include trades, which would change the value of a lot of picks (makes Trubisky worse, etc). He…
