No Hail Mary here: Hanie in position to be the No. 2 quarterback After Orton returned from his injury I was disappointed he did not regain his earlier form. I thought it was reported he was nearing full recovery from his ankle injury. If that was the case why was his play so bad compared to earlier in the season? In this interview I see he was no where near 100% after returning from the injury. Heck, he is only reported to be about 95% now: I am pleased he is indicating Hanie will get a chance to be the #2. I know this upsets many, but quite frankly, it excites me. I also think we will draft a QB prospect on day 2.

So, we're hearing that for Marquess Wilson to make the roster, he either has to really stand out as a WR, or show value on special teams. This is not especially surprising, as the Bears have repeatedly gone after players for their special teams value (Costanzo, Weems, Zbikowski, etc.) and seemed dedicated to proving to everyone, whether we care or not, that they value special teams as the unheralded, but equally important, third phase of football. Chicago Bears football practice was delayed nearly two hours today after a player reported finding an unknown white powdery substance on the practice field. Head coach Lovie Smith immediately suspended practice and called the police and federal investigators. After a complete analysis, FBI forensic experts determined that the white substance unknown to players was the GOAL LINE. Two things stood out to me when they spoke at the combine. Pace didn't make a total commitment to MT ( put off fifth year option until May)and spoke on the effort of improving the OL and TE spots besides potentially fixing the QB problem. Tells me he will add both draft picks and vets to get that done at TE and OL. Also that he has a plan at QB that if it materialized, he would move on from MT. Nagy said that he needed to adopt the offensive scheme to his personal. So had he did that last year, we may have had 2 or 3 more victories.

Bears WR Markus Wheaton will be sidelined 4-6 weeks with a torn groin. The Bears' supposed No. 2 receiver has been racked with injury since the early days of camp. He has one catch in three games. The team could opt to cut its 2017 losses and place Wheaton on injured reserve instead of waiting for him to get healthy.
