There are many good players on this team, so let's fix it. My thoughts are simple and always have been. We start by fixing the OL. Spend two high draft picks on OL. Spend one on QB. After that, draft speed on D. Clearly, Nagy has struggled this year and nobody is looking at Helfrich. I suggest Nagy hire a more conservative OC to balance his mad scientist style. I believe Helfrich is not a counter balance. Then, Nagy has to listen. On defense, Pagano needs to find his inner Fangio on defense. We heard how aggressive Pagano is. I haven't seen it. Lastly, stop trading up. It rarely works and sends an instant message to the drafted player saying,…

I read an article on Sports Mockery with the suggestion that next year we could let go of Fuller. The opinion was based on his cap hit and the fact that if they do not have fans in the stands this year the cap number will go down by 12 mil instead of going up. We would save 11 mil against the cap if we would let him go next year. So if we have to cut some of our star players, who would go first? We have 28 players that would go into free agency and 11 players making over 9 mil a year. https://overthecap.com/salary-cap/chicago-bears/ Here is our 2021 cap hits. I think if we are successful this year, we would try to keep as many stars that is possible. …

  3. After seeing the Jets beat the Rams, then the Bengals beat the Steelers, I really hope the Bears don't crap the bed on this one with so much on the line. This is the worst team the Bears will face this year, 31st in DVOA, 25th Offensive DVOA and 31st in Defensive DVOA, only the Jets are worse. If the Bears manhandled the Texans, this should be a blowout, however, Minshew is actually really solid for a QB on a 1-13 team. He has thrown 16 TDs to 5 INTs and Robinson is one of the best RBs in the league. However, after those two and Chark, they have a bunch of very average players. The Jags defense is crazy bad, they have allowed 20 or more points in every ga…

  4. This will probably be an ugly loss for the Bears. Hicks, Edwards, Goodwin, Kmet, Robinson, and Smith all DNP on Wednesday. That is in addition to Fields battling the cracked ribs and Mack lost for the season. Murray and Hopkins were limited, but McCoy has filled in nicely for the Cards. They may be without Justin Pugh on the OL, but outside of that, they are pretty intact. I would expect the Bears to try to run the ball a lot, control the clock and keep the Cards off the field. I don't see any way the Bears can win this based on how they looked recently. Cardinals 31-17

I'm sick of his BS. He can't run the right routes... He can't return kicks... And now he can't even field a friggen punt! He's a guy who got the big check and started to play it safe. He's a pussy! I say bench his ass for a few games until he gets his head straight. I know we don't have anything else, really, at WR, but I'm sick of Hester's lack of production. He's got no heart.

Zack Z is in Detroit for the big game and he ran into Plax at his Hotel. He asked Plax " If he had any contact from the Bears yet and stated Cutler has made several calls to him." Its not JA but something to think about.

Two games is pretty much all I need to see. The TD last week showed he has crazy hands. The TD this week showed he has great speed for a TE. Bennett is owed $6M+ next year on the cap. I think it would be wise to cut him at the end of the year and focus that money elsewhere, particularly on both lines. If the difficult decisions are being made, and moves like cutting Forte are being considered, then I think this is fair game. Bennett means far less to the Bears than Forte, and we've seen a similar sample size in their respective replacements.

With the two ILBs and Unrein signed, and an OT to set the right edge, it worries me the Bears may actually be thinking about a QB in the first. What else makes sense? -Ragland and Mack are out in my opinion. -Way too deep at DE to spend the pick there. -The Bears best defensive position is OLB, so that wouldn't be a good move. I think the FA signings are good enough that the Bears have narrowed down their likely 1st round positions to: CB, LT, and QB. But suppose they are including RB in their consideration? The QB and RB portions of that really worries me.

  11. First score of the game on 2nd drive (a FG by Barth) , all Cohen so far who looks amazing. Glennon with all short passes, 4-5 for 10 yards and his incompletion was thrown right at a defender for a near interception. After two drives against Cards #1 offense, the defense has been solid forcing two punts. Some nice pressure from the front 7.

Some great numbers from Jay against some great defenses this year: - 27 more yards from his all-time high as a Bear, 360 from 4,000 yards - 66.1 Completion %, career high - 28 TD's, career high - 18 INTs, still 8 less than career high - 89.5 QB Rating, career high - 27 Turnovers, 3 less than career high

Bearstalk.com Members: I'm hoping all of you were able to hear about the move (either via the old Bearstalk.com forum or the mass email we are in the process of sending out to the members) from the sportsinfinity network to our very own independently operated site. The network had pulled the Bearstalk.com forums which had been in existence for 7+ years and merged it with some other random forums. As a result the admins all discussed various options and we decided to continue in the Bearstalk.com tradition but on our own (on our own server, with our own software, with us calling 100% of the shots). It is unfortunate that we lost all of the posts that were on the…

Overall, I thought it was a pretty good draft, looking at the individual players we got. At the same time, I can not help but feel this draft will go down as the draft that could have been. I feel we missed the bus on some players, and while there are later picks I like individually, I question the selections due to who we passed on. 1st - I like Williams. I like him a lot. At the same time, I can not help but feel Albert will be a far better player. Williams may indeed be the better, immediate, prospect, but down the road, I think we look back and wonder why we didn't take Albert 2nd - Forte - I like Forte. I think most do as well. This fills a need, and…

  18. Giants are playing tonight, so I wanted to start this thread before the game. It will be interesting to see if they win and start the season 3-0. I thought the initial line of Bears -3 was very telling. Vegas thinks this is an even game on a neutral field. They will have the short week. Without the 3rd game for the Giants, the team stats will be a little skewed, but I will update later. Right now for comparison sake: Pts scored - CHI - 20th, NYG - 16th Pts allowed - CHI - 12th, NYG - 8th Total Yards - CHI - 31st, NYG - 22nd Total Yards Against - CHI - 20th, NYG - 13th INTs - CHI - 3, NYG - 0 Sacks - CHI - 6, NYG - 3 …

  19. I guess the reports are that he strained both of his calves, which I've never heard of, but they are saying 4 to 6 weeks recovery, which means he could miss 3 or 4 weeks of regular season. The question will be who replaces him. There's Leatherwood or Carter on the depth chart, recent free agent signing Logan Steinberg. Eislen, Patrick and Borom too. And the Bears could claim someone off of waivers during the cuts too. But there is another option too. They did it last year. Whitehair to LG and Patrick, Kramer, Eislen or a waiver claim at Center. I wouldn't be shocked if this is the way it goes. I think the main decision makers on this will be Carter and…

How many fewer sacks can we expect to see in 2025? New coaches, new scheme, revamped O-Line and 2 shiny new weapons. So Williams led the NFL in sacks last year with 68 on 562 passing attempts, which was the highest sack total since David Carr's 68 in 2005. At first I thought, ok, if he can drop by 20%, that would be solid. That would be 14 fewer sacks for a total of 54. That would've still led the league last season without Williams' 68. So it needs to be lower. So the next number is 33%, can he cut his sacks down by a third, so can he cut 23 sacks to go to 45? That would still be top 10 in sacks, but less than Burrow, Darnold, and Daniels. That seems a l…
