The best I can tell the new players will cost 13 million this year. We got rid of Olsen, Malaumaa, with Taylor and Harrison to follow. That will add 6. 75 million back in the pool. We pay Kreutz 4.5 and figure the new contract of Forte will cost around 5 to 7 this year. The rookies will cost around 7 mill. So the best I can figure we still have 10 to 12 mill spend this year. I think we can get Kelvin Hayden/cb, Dockery/OG, Jamal Brown/OT and Matt Roth/olb with the remainder of the cap. I suspect that if we do sign a couple more OL that we could cut Williams and maybe a guard Louis and save another 1.6 mil.

Guaranteed a winning record for only the 4th time in the last 17 years. The list goes on and on. The Bears have the #1 Rushing Offense (by 200 yards) without a running QB, and lead the league in Takeaways (by 6) on defense. I have zero faith in George and Ted to make any football decision and that is who Pace looks to for support. It wont change anytime soon unless Pace and the new HC royally freak this up. I'm loving this season. LOVING. But I'm worried. I feel like this season is a lot like Icarus. Flying too far too fast could cause huge problems. Amos needs re-signing now. Fuller, Floyd, Bush are all in 2019, and Eddie Jackson should be on tap quickly thereafter. One more year like this one, and I'm sure there are a few who others who will want to restructure. We won't be able to keep them all. Add that to the fact that there is a serious lack of draft picks, and I'm a bit worried about the path forward. I feel like the window is open, but it's only open for a year or two more.

Presume that means Dalton will be the guy again...unless Fields gets out of protocols pretty quickly.

For some reason this popped into my brain today and I was surprised there wasn't more mentioned about this during the playoffs. Special teams only seemed to play negative roles in games (SF and BAL) compared to highlights of epic runbacks. For the season, just from watching the games, you knew there would be an impact to most teams with good return games. Almost every other kickoff ended up as a touchback and the Bears would start around the 20 compared to the 30 or 35. So I was curious and looked at some various numbers. We have centers that can play Guard we have Guards that can play center, we have guards that can or are projected in the future to play tackle and we have tackles that can play guard.
