http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpag...2372&spln=1 Justin Smiley: Dolphins to release Justin Smiley? Justin Smiley - G - MIA - Apr. 27 - 7:45 am et The Dolphins are considering releasing LG Justin Smiley, according to the South Florida Sun-Sentinel. The Fins shopped Smiley throughout the draft, but couldn't even use him as a trade throw-in. The addition of third-round pick John Jerry may have sealed Smiley's fate, though we'd think his $2.9 million salary isn't too much to pay an effective, experienced backup. Smiley was not a major liability in '09. Apr. 27 - 7:45 am et Source: South Florida Sun-Sentinel To me, this would solidy the …

It was reported that the St. Louis Rams FS Oshiomogho Atogwe (shoulder, hernia) had reconstructive shoulder surgery following the season and is also fighting a sports hernia, so maybe this was the reason we did not go after him.

http://theredzone.org/BlogDescription/tabi...ca/Default.aspx Bears unlikely to sign Faneca Apr 27 4/27/2010 11:15:24 AM | More The odds of the Bears signing free agent guard Alan Faneca seem increasingly remote according to Neil Hayes of the Chicago Sun-Times. While Jerry Angelo has had conversations with Faneca's representative, he has not been among the GMs that have expressed the most interest, according to a knowledgeable source. Fanaca, 33, was released by the Jets on Saturday after the team drafted UMass offensive lineman Vladimir Ducasse.

Apparently LSU's left tackle, Ciron Black, still hasn't signed with anybody. I have no idea why the Bears aren't on the phone with him right now. His lack of agility and range means he's not a left tackle in the pros, but he could project to either right tackle or guard. The guy is seriously durable and consistent (made 53 starts for LSU,) and he's a good run-blocker with enough size/strength to help in the run game. I'm sure he wouldn't be able to hold up in pass-protection at left tackle, but as a developmental guard or right tackle prospect, he seems like he'd have a ton of upside.

I am very excited to see that we signed him as an undrafted free agent and even though his speed is put into question, id rather have a guy that can play football with a very high level of intelligence rather than have someone who is just out there to run. His stats look phenomenal and am looking forward to monitoring his progression.

Good article. I heard a clip from Pat Fitzgerald today. He said Wootten will be the first in and last out at the practice facility and said he will do whatever he can to help make the team better. He is all about supporting his team. Peace http://www.chicagobreakingsports.com/2010/...ht-wootton.html

  14. PRO DAY RESULTS: Free safety Quentin Scott impressed scouts from eight teams at Northern Iowa's pro day on March 31st. Scott (6-3 7/8, 224) worked out as both a defensive back and a wide receiver and put together a really good workout. He ran a 4.40-second and 4.45-second 40-yard dash, had a 35-inch vertical leap, 10-1 broad jump, 4.18-second short shuttle, 6.88-second three-cone drill and completed 13 bench press repetitions at 225 pounds. His arms were measured at 34 5/8 inches. Ten of Scott's teammates and two players from small area schools also worked out indoors on Mondo track.

  15. As per the trib http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/footb...0,2279764.story Is that an eye-popping number to anyone else? The 2nd round was only 2.5 million, but the first rounder was 18 million. Hell, lets trade our first rounder every year and spend that coin on a proven veteran. Seriously.
