I thought I'd throw a shout out to the veterans in the room with the title of this thread, although I know I'm mixing terminologies with the Hot Wash and SITREP meaning essentially the same thing. What can you expect from a Navy guy? Anyhow, I wanted to start a thread on overall post-season thoughts (sadly yes that's where we are) and most notably something I'm sincerely concerned about; where will Fangio end up next? I can only hope back in Chicago... I still love watching football and although the beloved are no longer in the mix as a fan of the sport, I'll still watch and cheer for a team (or two) that I think are deserving. For now my pick for this years …

It's just the first preseason game... We were vanilla... Had our two top offensive weapons out... Tommie didn't play... Saw a lot of things I liked... Gotta tackle better... The secondary is a concern... Jay's a gunslinger... I could've written this same postgame script after the first preseason game of all the Lovie Smith seasons. They always look like shit this early in camp. And he'll say "Of course" about 17 times in 10 minutes.

Ignore all the mocks from guys who don't have inside knowledge. We now know how the GMs ranked the NFL prospects this year. Now that they're positioning is known, who would you have drafted? 1. Reilly Reiff - OT - Iowa: I'm still amazed the Bears took, at best, the 4th rated DE, one who comes with question marks addressed by numerous publications, over the 2nd rated OT with minimal downside. 2. Alshon Jeffery - WR - SC: Nothing changed about the trade up or the selection. Easily the best pick of the draft. 3. Brandon Thompson - DT - Clemson: This guy is a beast, quick first move, solid production, killed it at the combine. He is good enough that he would h…

To me the schedule starts out brutal. We get a Week 7 Bye, which is a little early for me but better than Week 6. We face 5 winning teams in the first 6 games before the bye, so even 3-3 would be a huge success. The middle of the schedule is a little milder with 3 games vs winning teams and 2 against sub .500 teams. Then we finish the season with 3 out of 5 at home and only 1 game against a winning team (Week 17 at home, vs DET). We could really make a playoff push even if we went into those last 5 games at 5-6 or 6-5. Only 2 primetime games this year. Bears Regular Season Schedule (All times Eastern) Week 1: Sunday, Sep. 13, Green Bay, 1:00 PM (Screw GB)…

So, if the Bears are well under the salary cap this year, why wouldn't/couldn't they just do the following: -Sign Forte, and make a large chunk of the contract go towards this year's cap -Have multiple years of a cheaper Forte Seems like this, if permissable, would kill two birds with one stone.

1:54 in the 1st half Andre Johnson catches a TD where Tillman is fighting for it.......did he catch it? They didn't even review it, his 2nd foot was out when he got full possession.

This offseason I'm most curious about our new defensive scheme. Reading this article, along with Bostic's quotes, makes me wonder what differences we'll be seeing after a nearly a decade of the Tampa 2. Some of the board members have experience or knowledge of football well beyond my limitations. I'd like to hear thoughts on what changes we'll be seeing in our run fits (to use their term), or should be looking for players to do as I expect execution won't be perfect early on. Any ideas on what our LB assignments are now versus the old "get in your gap" of the Lovie 2? http://www.suntimes.com/sports/football/be...ml#.U5Mu2MY8icM

I looked at some stats today and found a nugget of interesting data. But first, what does the media spew out all the time about "Lovie Smith's defense"? OMG! They're going to strip the ball. They're going to get turnovers. Well, guess what? They're tied for 13th in the NFL in terms of forced fumbles with 14. And on top of that, only three teams in the top 16 recover less of those forced fumbles. >TEAM FF REC PER KC 15 16 106.67% DEN 14 13 92.86% PHI 23 21 91.30% NYJ 18 16 88.89% BUF 15 13 86.67% PIT 19 15 78.95% ARI 14 11 78.57% TEN 17 12 70.59% MIA 18 12 …

I remember the buzz about the UDFA signing of Charles Snowden and like Trevis Gipson he was a DE also that the previous regime thought was a LB! I'm thinking that this is another sleeper in the mist.

Did anybody notice this yesterday? It didn't happen often, but I think for one play there was an instance where Shea was lined up in a 2 point stance as an outside backer. I love that we're starting to see more creativity on defense, and would love to see more of this in the future where he's able to roam around and attack the quarterback ala Clay Matthews every once in a while. Brilliant move by Mareneli.

http://theredzone.org/BlogDescription/tabi...or/Default.aspx Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune reports the Bears are believed to be interested in running back Chester Taylor and he could come in and compete with Matt Forte for the starting job. "This past year we weren't as pleased as we would like to be with our running back situation," coach Lovie Smith said last week at the scouting combine. "Yeah, we'll look at everyone that is available." Chester Taylor is a valuable commodity as a complement to Peterson, and he will be an unrestricted free agent if he doesn't re-sign with Minnesota before 11:01 p.m. Thursday. I know its risky, but im saying …

Here is an interesting article suggesting what the Bears do this year. What I find interesting is they have Floyd doing 14 and 1/2 sacks. Glennon has a good year. Howard is a stud. Cohen adds some offense. Meridith has a good year but I think White has more of an impact than they suggest. With the added pass rush we will have more ints that they suggest. http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2709581...leaders-in-2017
