I was considering the impact the ads and billboard might have on the McCaskey's potential decision to make changes to the team's management. Specifically, I wondered what else could be done to influence a change. As a born and bred Chicagoan and a fan of all of the city's teams I thought of changes our other teams have made and tried to make comparisons to the scenario facing the Bears. I think a good comparison could be made to the Blackhawks. Outside of the mild successes enjoyed during the tenures of Orval Tessier and Mike Keenan, this team has been mired in poor performances over the last twenty years. While Dollar Bill Wirtz was alive ,the team, to its own detri…

At the end of the game Monday night, I was on the computer when Favre threw the TD to Rice. I walked into the living room and told my wife that I expected the Bears to lose and was at least happy they put up a great game. Further, I said that was a hell of a pass by Favre. My wife said, and I will paraphrase "I don't want to hear it. I want them to lose because of him". Got to love it!!! FYI - I hate Favre as well but respect him as a player. Peace

What is interesting to me is that the offense's poor showing has overshadowed a crappy defense. If we are talking about firing the offensive coordinator, we could call for the same dismissal of the defensive coordinator...wait... he's our head coach. Check this quote from Pro Football Weekly, when they posted today a ranking of defensive coordinators (this is a scout's take): "22. Lovie Smith (head coach) / Bears — Though Bob Babich maintained his defensive-coordinator title to coach the linebackers, Smith coordinates the defense, with great help from D-line coach/assistant head coach Rod Marinelli. Personnel utilization and an inability to maximize talent ha…

It was brought up that apparently the last time Tennessee was looking for a head coach that Tennessee had attempted to get Lovie Smith at that time which was roughly fourteen months ago. With Lane Kiffin's bolting to USC, Tennessee is looking for a new head coach once again. Here is the link from the article on the trib's website: http://www.chicagobreakingsports.com/2010/...ovie-smith.html Personally I think that would be a good thing considering all that has transpired for the last year and one half and the fact that all the projected OCs and DCs are not coming into what is apparently being interpreted as a lame duck situation in Chicago with the win or else dema…

When it comes to charting Cowher's career, don't bet against Bettis Posted by Mike Florio on January 14, 2010 7:14 PM ET Rosenthal posted earlier tonight the eye-opening comments from former Steelers running back Jerome Bettis regarding his belief that former Steelers coach Bill Cowher is waiting for the Giants job to come open. And Bettis has a high degree of credibility in these matters. He was one of the first to proclaim with any degree of fact that 2006 would be Cowher's last season with the Steelers. "I really think this is the last year for Coach Cowher in Pittsburgh," Bettis said at halftime of an NBC preseason game between the Redskins and the Beng…

I'm gonna follow in a WR diva's footsteps and prop myself for having over 5,000 posts! I apologize to everyone who's sick of reading my stuff! But, too bad, there's still more to come! ...and seriously, thanks everyone for putting up with me all these years! Hopefully, there's some nuggets of good stuff amidst my drivel!

Bucs decide to "move on" from Antonio Bryant Posted by Gregg Rosenthal on February 25, 2010 4:17 PM ET The Bucs have decided they don't want to sign Antonio Bryant for the third time in as many years. Speaking Thursday at the NFL Scouting Combine, Bucs coach Raheem Morris said the team has decided to "move on" from Bryant and go in a "young direction." The news isn't a shock, but we are surprised that his agent only found out from a reporter, according to Stephen Holder of the St. Petersburg Times. The two sides supposedly never even got into contract demands. We think Bryant has the best mix of talent and age of any receiver on the market. Tampa, mea…

We obviously aren't happy with our DE play, and plan A was to use our top draft pick early to develop a guy we hoped could be the answer . . . not only did Adams die, but our season went in the crapper making it a really high 2nd round pick. Ugh. So how do we fix our #1 priority? Since it's an uncapped year I'm guessing some team will go nuts and give Peppers way more then he deserves. Kampman's name comes up a lot but he's more of a situational pass-rusher like Mark Anderson. The only other name I've heard mentioned if Kyle Vanden Bosh who's had 7.5 sacks over the last two years (and we thought Wale's 6.5 last season was pathetic.) I'm guessing if we though…

http://www.chicagobears.com/news/NewsStory.asp?story_id=6582 Smith lauds depth, young talent at wide receiver position By: Larry Mayer | Last Updated: 2/26/2010 6:18 PM INDIANAPOLIS – Coach Lovie Smith is excited about the continued development of the Bears’ young wide receivers and believes that they’ll thrive in new coordinator Mike Martz’s system. While some considered the position a weak link prior to the 2009 season, Devin Hester, Earl Bennett, Johnny Knox, Devin Aromashodu and Rashied Davis combined to catch 185 passes for 2,334 yards. It was the highest output by Bears receivers since they had 192 receptions in 2002 and 2,363 yards in 2001. …

Again, I'm really appreciative for the concern of all of you here. Fortunately for me and my family we had little damage to the house--a few broke things-and we are all safe and now have elctricity, gas and water. There still are many here, just around the block as a matter of fact, that do not have electricity yet. My work at the university has been suspended pending an evaluation of the infrastructure and the arrival of electricity there. Santiago is about 200 miles north of the epicenter and mostly very old buildings, many historical sites and the very newer ones--mostly lower income housing--suffered the most damage here. Down south, though, between the earthquak…

Bears | Interested in Marshall? Comment (0) Wed, 03 Mar 2010 09:06:48 -0800 Neil Hayes, of the Chicago Sun-Times, reports the Chicago Bears could still potentially be in the running to acquire Denver Broncos WR Brandon Marshall in the offseason. Although general manager Jerry Angelo has said the wide receiver position is not a need for the team, one league source said Marshall could still be in a Bears uniform when training camp opens. The addition of Marshall would help QB Jay Cutler thrive in 2010. Bears | Olsen on the trading block? Comment (0) Wed, 03 Mar 2010 07:22:28 -0800 Greg A. http://www.theredzone.org/BlogDescription/...an/Default.aspx Harris could be released if Bears add Peppers or Kampman Mar 4 3/4/2010 9:48:40 AM | More Neil Hayes of the Chicago Sun-Times reports that adding Julius Peppers or Aaron Kampman to the mix would be an upgrade, no doubt, but it could mean Tommie Harris gets released. Two sources said Harris still is a strong candidate to be cut before his bonus is due in June, despite general manager Jerry Angelo and coach Lovie Smith expressing confidence he can bounce back next season. -------------------------------------------- why release a DT cuz u add Julius Peppers? Considering i only k…
