He was not exactly a class act, but whenever an athlete dies especially at such a young age, it's sad. RIP Chris.

False historians and statistical nerds will look at Cutler's INTs at the end of the year - just like the majority of the ignorant sports media who haven't watched the games - and they'll blame it all on Cutler. They'll say this was a horrible year for Cutler and he made a multitude of mistakes. They'll say the trade was ridiculously lopsided, and the Broncos basically robbed the Bears. But what they won't see is a slew of INTs that are not really Cutler's fault. This past game against the Packers just adds two more to the list. INT #1 = Aromashodu runs the wrong way, Billick basically says as much on air INT #2 = Knox runs the wrong way on an adjustment, hangin…

Has anyone else noticed that there have been quite a few OBVIOUS pass interference situations on the Bears WRs/TEs, and they have not been called? It seems that there has been many more than normal recently, with replays in more than one game making announcers say, "Yeah, that should have been pass interference." Is this a matter of respect for the passing game, or lack thereof?

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=4745760 Rams release veteran guard Incognito Comment Email Print Share Associated Press ST. LOUIS -- The St. Louis Rams released Richie Incognito on Tuesday, two days after coach Steve Spagnuolo benched the temperamental offensive guard for the second half of a loss at Tennessee. "As with all other personnel moves, this is what we felt was in the best interest of the team at this time," Spagnuolo said in a statement. "We appreciate Richie's efforts and we wish him the very best." Incognito Incognito A team spokesman said Spagnuolo would have more to say about the move Wednesday. The Rams have oth…

I just took a look at some of the receivers stats from the Broncos and Bears from 2008 to 2009. I was surprised at the huge dropoff from Royal (down 58 receptions and over 660 yards from a year ago). Now I know there are still 4 games to play, but that is a huge dropoff. Marshall and Scheffler are both down as well. There is a good chance that Marshall will be the only Bronco with more than 500 yards receiving. Compare that to Hester and Olsen, who both will surpass their 2008 totals (Hester already has). Even Forte is on tap to beat his 2008 totals for receiving. We will also more than likely have 5 receivers (including Forte), break 500 yards receiving. …

I liked his defensive style in Baltimore, and supposedly he is an offensive coach. Probly could get him for cheaper than some of the other guys out there. He's been to a Super Bowl. Check check. I'm sure there are some down sides that some of you may know better than I--would be interested to hear.

if a miracle happens and we dump the garbage in chicago i don't want to bring in a coach with the mantle of GM. even with a cowher or shanny i think it would be a mistake to give either this dual role because it just doesn't work. that is not to say i want to handcuff either of these quality type coaches to have no say in FA personnel or especially the draft. at the least they should work with someone similar to the way cowher worked with colbert in pitt but in any event it is just too much for a coach to fill in both roles by himself and be good at either. also in my opinion we are going to have to shake up the scouting department along with any qualified gm we…

So I went looking around and I found the Sports Illustrated scouting report on James Marten, the tackle we just signed off the practice squad: And from War Room Report: Also I found some reports from Cowboys beat writers - the consensus seemed to be that Marten looked pretty good at tackle, but he couldn't get on the active roster because Doug Free from NIU was a surprise hit (he's now their starting RT,) and Dallas' other active backup had to be able to play both guard and center, whereas Marten only plays tackle and guard. I imagine there are a lot of tackles in the league who wouldn't have been able to get playing time over Flozell, Colombo, and Fr…

By Brad Biggs http://www.chicagobreakingsports.com/2009/...-cap-bears.html It is detailed in Sunday's Tribune how the Bears have $4.63 million remaining in available salary-cap room for the final month of the season, space that general manager Jerry Angelo could put to use for next year, in the event the NFL proceeds with a capped system. Salary-cap numbers for individual players do not represent how much money they are earning each year. Rather, they are a reflection of how much room the player takes up under the cap. Think of it as one big pie, the whole of which is $135.9 million for the Bears. Quarterback Jay Curter is the biggest piece in the pie w…

Management needs to sit down with him and let him know that he is a reserve receiver from now on and a full time return man. I don't care what his incentives are and neither should nanagement. He is an average receiver at best. DA stepped into the starting lineup and looked 100 times better. Knox and DA should be starting with Bennett at #3 and Hester at #4. If he bitches, offer to redo his contract such that his incentives are tied to the return game going foward. Peace

I was thinking today that perhaps JA has already hedged his bet that Lovie wouldn't turn around this team. For a head coach who still has two years remaining he didn't go out last year and hire a DC. He didn't extend Ron Turner's contract past this season. I don't know the timing of the assistant coaches contracts but my point is that the two largest contracts besides the HC don't exist in this organization. Was that done to make firing Lovie more financially acceptable? Wouldn't it have been more logical to hire a new DC since at the time Lovie still had 3 years left on his contract? Clearly last year JA was the source of all the staff changes last year.…

Per Adam Schefter on his Twitter account. Orlando Pace is out today and so is Devin Hester. Bears inactives are Iglesias, steltz, hester, moore, june, toeainia, pace and gilbert. Schefter also reported that Ryan Pickett is out for the Packers and that BJ Raji will make his 1st career start.

I don't know who is responsible for deciding whether or not the Bears challenge a previous play, but whoever it is that person should be fired. 1 - They don't know the rules. 2 - They are horrible at their job. 3 - I'm not totally sure the Bears have someone to do it, and Lovie is just winging it down there on the sideline based upon how adamant his players are. Throwing away two timeouts in a crucial moment of the game against our most heated rivalry is simply not tolerable.
