So looking thru team stats, I noticed a few things. First, the Bears team is not as bad as I thought. I figured that they were bottom 5 on offense and the defense was bottom 2. So for offensive yardage, the Bears are 24th overall, Passing yards - 20th, Rushing yards - 22nd. Defense is 29th overall, Passing yards - 27th, Rushing yards - 16th. So on offense, I didn't expect the passing yards to be that good, but expected rushing to be much better. On defense, I thought passing was going to be worse and was shocked the rushing defense was that good. There are many ways to take this, but when I looked at the rest of the league, it made s…

I'm an optimist and viewed the OL as getting better. With the injuries involved, it was terrible . Swiftly gives the stats for the line in his video. We were tied for 5 th (50) in the league in giving up sacks. Had we not had a mobile QB, that total could have been much worse. We were 26 th in the league in PBC, ( pass blocking efficiency). We had the worst PAK in the league, 60.4% of the time Fields was under pressure on passing plays. We had a mobile QB , I can't imagine what that would have been with a typical pocket passer. We were 6th in the league in false starts 24. We were tied for 4th in holding penalties. 19. All those stats sh…

I was just reading the new kickoff rules for the 2024 season. At first glance, it is quite a change. However, I think it will accomplish the goal of making kickoffs once again a vital part of special teams instead of an afterthought. Here is a link to the story (and new rules) on NFL.com. (What do you guys think about the new rules?) NFL owners pass new hybrid kickoff rule at Annual League Meeting In summary, if the kickoff lands between the goal line and the twenty-yard line, it must be returned. However, the alignment of the players and the point of release are totally different. Special teams will have to spend a lot of time getting ready to take advanta…

OK, I wasn't impressed. But as I've given myself a little time to think about it, it wasn't all bad. The O Line did hold up pretty well and there weren't a lot of penalties called in the game. Of course, I'm not sure KC is a pass rushing juggernaut either... The running game looked pretty good. Obviously we have some horses there and this will only improve when Jones is ready to go. Now, it sure would've been great if Jerry didn't draft a guy with a pre-existing back condition. Damn it. Still, we'll have to watch this situation develop. If the line can produce through the first half of the season and the kid really returns in 12 weeks, it might not be so bad …

http://www.suntimes.com/sports/football/be...ml#.U1-msq1dXgI Hopefully it turns out to be more than fluff and the lights finally turn on for Fendi. If he turns into this years Julius Thomas look out NFL, this offense could be unstoppable.

While most of us are all about DE, S, CB, QB, there hasn't been much talk about OLB as a selection. 1. Deshaun Watson, QB, Clemson 2. TJ Watt, OLB, Wisconsin 3. Cooper Kupp, WR, EWU 4. Justin Evans, S, TX A&M 4. Rasul Douglas, CB, WVU 5. George Kittle, TE, Iowa 7. Mack Hollins, WR, UNC Read his rationale here. I don't like doubling up on WR, but that's a different take than we've been seeing lately.

Could be bullshit, I have no idea. But this is the first indication that the Bears might be thinking about going the cheap route and using the cap dollars on positions other than QB. We've debated that extensively elsewhere and I'm officially on the fence. http://www.nationalfootballpost.com/Bears-...-offseason.html Take it for what it's worth...

Thought some of you would find this amusing. This ball sells for about $80 normally, but with good ol Rexy's signature on it, it only sells for $20. Wilson Official NFL Football - The Duke $19.99 +SH Alright so I found this ball that normally sells on amazon for $79 [amazon.com] for $20 here [steinersports.com] the only downside is that Rex Grossman signed it so you will have to do a little work to clean it off or play with as is but it might make you throw more interceptions then you normally do. Flate rate shipping of $8.99 no matter how many you buy. Product Details The Chicago Bears selected quarterback Rex Grossman during the first roun…

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2011/...rget-for-bears/ Cullen Jenkins looks like a target for Bears Posted by Gregg Rosenthal on April 6, 2011, 11:18 AM EDT Getty ImagesThe Bears don’t have a lot of key free agents to re-sign when free agency hits. Defensive tackle Anthony Adams looks like a priority according to John Mullin of CSNChicago.com, but that’s practically it. While we don’t expect another Julius Peppers-type splash in free agency, the Bears have more work to do on the defensive line. Mullin believes the team will target Packers versatile defensive lineman Cullen Jenkins. “The Bears have their targets identified for whenever free ag…

Khari Lee was released to make room for Logan Paulsen. I think that's an upgrade and it is expected we'll put Lee on the practice squad so he'll still be around if needed, Braunecker too. http://chicago.suntimes.com/sports/bears-t...-logan-paulsen/

The Bears' 3rd-6th picks equal out to about the value of a pick in the bottom of the second round. Bears 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, and 6th for a lower 2nd round pick. Would you make that kind of move? Suppose the following: 1. Donald is gone in the first, but Pryor and HHCD are available. 2. One of three DTs falls (Hageman, Jernigan, Tuitt) 2. Someone we like is there. In this scenario, I would be pretty happy to see: 1. HHCD - Starts at FS immediately and reminds us of Mike Brown 2. Jernigan - Any of the three would make me happy at this point, but 2. Bucannon - Starts at SS immediately and It'd be unconventional for sure, but I …

If Cutler is not injured, the Bears have already qualified for the playoffs. Clearly, he is the most important part of the offense. No matter how much I like Forte, he is not the center of the offense and can be replaced. The Bears have run the ball very well without him the last 3 games. My point is I would not pay Forte what he is asking for. I would tell him the previous offer is on the table. He can sign that or we will franchise him the next two years. Bottom line, they have to improve the OL and WR core on this team. Someone said in another post that RBs are a dime a dozen. Forte is a very good RB but not an elite RB ala Chris Johnson or Adrian Peterso…
