I guess he's interviewing today, but odds are extremely unlikely that he'd accept the job. However, it would be awesome if he did get the job, we bring in a new OC from the outside, and bring in a whole new offensive staff.

This offense obviously does suck, but Ron Turner had some of the worst play calling in this game I have ever seen. He should be fired on the spot and be replaced with anyone with half a brain.

That was one of the dumbest friggin calls in the history of the Bears. 1) Forte was effective 2) McKie is not a good runner 3) The passing game was not effective 4) Everyone in the stadium knew the Bears were going to run What the hell? This game is all on the offense, specifically Ron Turner and Kyle Orton.

Personally, from what I have read, seen, and heard about Ron Turner, he's a pretty great offensive mind. His problem is inconsistency, boneheaded/very conservative play calling at times, and lack of weapons on offense. However, that last point might be the biggest reason why Turner has never taken off as an OC. I don't really remember the Bears from 93-96 as I was very young, but IIRC, we didn't have much offensive talent during those years. And those Illini teams he coached didn't have much talent on offense either (but that is kind of his fault considering they were his recruiting classes. Plus, I don't know if this is the case, but he might have given play calling…

Is Turner that bad or is his failure also a by product of the poor OL play? Personally, I think it is somewhat the OLs poor play, but am less than impressed with his play calling. I posed this question in another thread but decided to start a new one hoping for some feedback. QUESTION - If we were to fire Turner (maybe some college wants a new HC, LOL) then who would you want to come in as a new OC? There is going to be some good candidates cut loose when some HCget fired and their staffs are released. ANY IDEAS?

I know its just rookie camp and all and u can't read much into anything. Kyle Long has been at RG past couple days and then he's at RT today. Just thought this was interesting since most believe he will start at LG

I went into this game expecting a total Mel Tuckeresque coverage disaster. Instead they all seemed to know their job. We have to credit Houston-Carson and Jaylon Johnson for keeping the young guys lined up properly during the game. Plus the coaches deserve a ton of credit getting them ready. I just read where there are 58 players at rookie mini camp. The more bodies the better, that is how you find diamonds in the rough. With that many I would say they sign a couple of try out players to regular camp.

Just watching the initial press conferences from our draft picks it seems we again have good character. After watching him for years at Iowa State lined up in the backfield it was interesting to hear Montgomery really likes the fact Nagy uses RBs all over the field. I take that to mean he likes the idea of having more one on one opportunities. For a player who had the most broken tackles in college the last two years I kinda like that idea too. There have only been 5 rookie QBs to throw for more than 4K yards, 3 are active, 2 starters. For TDs, surprisingly, only Herbert has thrown for more than 28. For QB Rating, there have only been 4 QBs to end the season over 100. So to have a top 5 rookie season ever, Williams would have to throw for 4,043 yards, 25 TDs, with a QB Rating of 98.4 and a Comp% of 66.5%, for each category. Taylor is going to be a top 10 Punter, and huge upgrade over limped legged Gill. There has only been 1 rookie punter ever to break 50 yards per punt. I think Taylor joins Stonehouse with his average per punt. Due to a better offense, I don't know how often he will be punting, but I don't think averaging over 50 yards per punt is out of reach for him. The other thing he excels at is pinning team inside their 20. Last season Stonehouse (again), averaged 52.8% of his punts inside the 20. Wishnowsky was the only other punter over 50%. I think Taylor can go 50/50% this year, which would be a top 5 punter in the NFL.
