I just read this article, and it makes an interesting point. Quinn played DE, and OLB will be new to him. I expect that will show most on keeping contain and playing the screen, stuff like that. But we brought him here to rush the quarterback, and Roquan has his back on that side too. And all of this only matters in base defense. I was surprised to see Montgomery listed among the top 5 on this list. I think he's a good fit for what we need and his ability to make the first unblocked defender miss will add significantly to our offense even if he doesn't have breakaway speed. Regardless I'm not sure I see him as a top 5 RoY candidate. What a win! This was a signature Chicago Bears victory. Great defense and an efficient running game. This is also setting up Fields for some opportunities in the passing game down the road. Teams are now going to have to commit an extra defender to the box to stop the run. The difference is we now have a QB that can hit the deep to intermediate throws. Offense Post: QB - I would give QBs a B-. I was expecting a little more out of the passing game, but no turnovers (INTs or fumbles) is great to see. OK, I wasn't impressed. But as I've given myself a little time to think about it, it wasn't all bad. The O Line did hold up pretty well and there weren't a lot of penalties called in the game. Of course, I'm not sure KC is a pass rushing juggernaut either... The running game looked pretty good. Obviously we have some horses there and this will only improve when Jones is ready to go. Now, it sure would've been great if Jerry didn't draft a guy with a pre-existing back condition. Damn it. Still, we'll have to watch this situation develop. After three games, it is clear to me that the OL unit rested on the laurels of last year. I'm not concerned because there has been steady improvement from week to week. Daniels will be fine at center once he gets his calls right. Leno looks he didn't work at all in camp, but is battling. Long looks very rusty, hopefully not washed up. My main thought is that Nagy had the entire offensive side of the team not ready for the start of the season. Looks like he's righting the ship weekly.
