Yep, the players f'ed up. Bad decisions were made and poor execution was abound. However, the buck stops at the coach. Bottom line, this team did not look prepared to play. He did get the defense going, but Smith did not have this club ready to play at a high level. He needs to right that wrong, and get this team motivated next weekend. He's got all of this season to prove me wrong, but I still don't feel he is good enough to get this team to the promised land.

Noots’ Notes-Game 1: 21-15 Loss to Green Bay By Michael Nudo The Bears fell to Green Bay in their opener. Jay Cutler’s 4 interceptions were too much to overcome. Fallen Angel (AP Photo/Jim Prisching). OFFENSE Quarterback Jay Cutler (17-36-277, TD, 4 INTs, 3/16) took too many chances with the football. He kept some plays alive with his feet, but threw the ball into coverage far too often. He had some really nice throws, especially the 68-yard bomb to Johnny Knox and the 36-yard touchdown to Devin Hester. He needs to be more patient, and hit the checkdowns to his tight ends and running backs. His moving in the pocket also led to some inaccurate thr…

In today's Tribune, an article by Fred Mitchell (http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/football/bears/chi-16-walter-payton-statue-sep16,0,3208115.story) advises that the Park District is opposed to a statue being erected outside Soldier Field. I personally find this appalling as the excuses that the Park District give is that the statue for "Sweetness" is not for a war veteran and does not take into consideration other Bear Hall of Fame members or legends. I am hoping that many Bear Fans will write to the Park District to voice displeasure with the Park District's lack of respect to the greatest running back of all time and the founding franchise of the NFL. Here is the…

All bad news must come to an end and it finally did as of about 5 minutes ago. My wife and I just found out today that she is pregnant with our 2nd child. The doctors believe its fairly early within the past couple of weeks(still celebrating the fact that we got Cutler I believe) We will be going in in a couple of weeks to have an ultrasound done.

Pittsburgh too is without their defensive leader, and he may be more important to them than Urlacher is to us, and that is saying a lot. They had absolutely no running game (36 rushing yards) vs TEN and their O-Line looked almost as bad as ours. Big Ben was sacked 4 times and threw 2 picks. He also had a couple of "near" picks but got lucky. I think this will be another close game, and definitely winnable. The early line has the Steelers favored by 3. One concern is that they have had a couple extra days to rest, recover, and prepare.

Cutler may have had opening night gitters but I think he the coaching staff failed to prepare him for the 3/4 defense. He looked bewildered. Lovie's two challenges were ridiculous. The fake punt was a player mistake but this is a vet of what, 15 years? They put that quick snap in there but apparently they never coached him on when not to use it. The Packers 12 man was on the sideline for a few seconds before that snap. Halftime adjustments were just fine. With Urlacher out I expected to lose by 21. We were winning until a minute left. But why in the world aren't we READY for the team we play in game one this year? We were ready for the Colts last sea…

Starting strong-side linebacker Pisa Tinoisamoa went down in the first quarter Sunday with a sprained posterior cruciate ligament in his right knee and is day-to-day, according to an NFL source. There is a chance Tinoisamoa could play against the Steelers, but his status remains unclear. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/footb...0,7971480.story

Wow was that bad. Was there a snap Cutler wasn't having to run for his life? How many times did Forte have a hole to run through. The left side of our OL was "upgraded" but they were horrible. Pace looked slow and weak. On one play, it was to be a run between up the middle. Omiyale blocks down inside, while Pace is supposed to move/pull to the right and block the guy who was basically lined up in front of Omiyale. Pace is about 3 steps too slow, and (I think) Jolley simply has a clear path to hit Forte in the backfield. Another play, just to point out, Omiyale sort of tried to cheat a bit buy lunging at Jolley off the snap. It looked sad as Jolley…

Not sure why Cutler deserves all these excuses people keep making. "It's those darned receivers." "He was being rushed." Well... weren't these the same problems there last year? In fact, this year's receivers are better overall than last year's (Booker, Lloyd). Why was no one ready to make these excuses for Orton? Granted, Cutler's arm is better. But who needs a rocket arm if you're throwing it to the other team. If we wanted a one-trick pony who can throw the long ball and is interception prone, seems like keeping Rex Grossman would've been more economical. Cutler better turn it around soon.

Why did we start the game so pass happy? I know the running game wasn't exactly lighting it up but you can't just abandon it completely until late in the game. My biggest gripe however is that I don't think we even passed to him once. Whether on a dump off or a designed play, we need to get him the ball in space several times a game, especially if handing it off to him isn't yielding results.

I have seen plenty of articles of posts ripping Cutler to shreds, and while I am NOT saying he didn't have a bad game, I also thought the receivers really made him look bad. Yea, there were numerous picks, and even more that could have been, but how often was it due to Cutler and how often due to the receiver. Some examples off the top of my head. Early on, there was a play which looked like an out route to Bennett, who rup upfield, began to cut, but then just stopped and turned around. I think that is called a button hook, right? Anyway, Cutler threw the ball as if Bennett would be running an out, and it basically went into (and out of) the hands of a DB as …
