Rough season for the Bears from an injury standpoint. He will be the 13th player put on IR. I think they lost over 60 starts to injury this yr as compared to low 20s last yr. Obviously, injury was not the primary reason for the Bears downfall this yr (coaching, personnel moves, inept play) but it did play a part. http://www.suntimes.com/sports/football/be...earnt27.article Peace

  2. Martz oozes confidence at first press conference Posted by Evan Silva on February 1, 2010 7:30 PM ET The Bears' hire of Mike Martz as offensive coordinator is being criticized in some parts and praised in others. At Monday's introductory press conference, Martz touched on some of the developments that led up to his new position and his plans for the Bears' offense. Martz felt an "instant connection" with quarterback Jay Cutler when the two met for dinner in Nashville on Saturday night. "That happened to me with Jon Kitna the first time I met him, too," Martz said. "This was very interesting because we were on the same page on so many things." …

https://www.chicagobears.com/news/roster-moves-bears-sign-harris-cut-sowell I'm assuming this means Hicks isn't likely to play which is a huge hit to our Dline. Sowell will likely just stay in town for when he returns to the roster in the next week or two.

Heard a small blurb on the NBC pregame tonight about Fitzgerald possibly being done in Arizona after the season. I know Angelo tried for Boldin but maybe...just maybe???? Unfortunately it appears at this point to be mostly rumor and the below link (although outdated) thinks Minnesota makes the most sense but I am ever the optimist. http://panthersinthepros.wordpress.com/2007/09/21/149/

I used to want him, and thought Smith might be able to do something...now, I'm not so sure.

Back to back weeks that we allow a KO return for a TD. This one was crazy as Lockett didn't even switch sides of the field, we didn't even have a player inside the 20 when he ran past. I have no idea what is going on but that needs to be fixed. We started in a hole against ARZ and this one basically ended the game for us after we kept it close and the defense was playing good. We also allowed a 64 yard punt return by Sherman which setup a first half FG. So our Special Teams contributed to 10 of the first 13 points against, and never really gave us good field position when our offense had the ball. I would fire the ST coach during the bye if there is not a mar…

Our special teams will be better this and be on top of the NFL once again. Sure we have a few holes to fill but that simple with all the players we have ready to step up. Gould is kicking the ball off well and they are going deep into the end zone. He has also made a 67 yard field goal in practice. Now if he can do this in a game then we have an added weapon. With hester changing field postion and a threat to take it all the way, making coaches not wanting to kick to him, and then you have Maynard the punter pinning the other team deep with kicks inside the 20.

So I think we can safely say that some of the preseason can be correlated to the regular season. Special Teams was an issue in the preseason, and it was also in Week 1. On punts, MIN's PR Price averaged 17.0 on his returns (which is crazy). Duvernay averaged 9.3. The Bears lost 31 net yards in punt coverage. Wright was 7-333 on punts averaging 47.6. Taylor was 6-266 for only 44.3 per punt. So the Bears lost another 20 net yards in just punts. That is 51 lost yards without the offense or defense on the field, which basically equates to at least 3 pts. I don't know how a punter loses 10 yards off his punts from college to the pros. Then our glorious Capt…

The Bears had great field position all game. It really shows you how bad the bottom of the roster for Detroit is. We simply dominated on returns all day long. Peace

I'm old school and I love the special teams aspect of football. It provides some of the most exciting plays each year whether it is kickoff and punt returns, to even FG at the closing seconds of the game. Fans are fixated on these moments. Even a missed extra point these days, since they moved it back to the 15yd line, can change the emotions of the game. How many here remember the FG block in the Bears - Packers game after Walter Payton passed away? If you are not familiar with him, Rick Gosselin does some outstanding analysis and reporting on the game. 20. SPECTER TO LIMBAUGH: “THERE WAS FILMING” Posted by Mike Florio on March 21, 2008, 5:54 p.m. Senator Arlen Specter (R-Pa.) is promoting a book (which, frankly, should make reasonable people wonder even more about his motives for getting in the middle of the NFL’s business). And thus Senator Specter is doing the kinds of thinks that people who promote books do — he’s seeking out opportunities to talk about the book on radio programs. On Friday, he appeared on Rush Limbaugh’s show. A full transcript of the interview is available at Limbaugh’s web site. At the tail end of the interview, Limbaugh asked Specter about the status of the inquiry into the Patriots’…
