I looked at our stats from last year (brutal) and compared to what we have so far this year. The offense, overall has improved in most areas and only regressed slightly in Passing Yards per game (by 3), Rushing YPC, by 0.09, and Comp% by about 3% (not as many Forte dink and dunks). I've been in Thailand all winter bored and retired. I have probably averaged 4 hours a day with football content. It doesn't make me some kind of expert but has given me a perspective. We've now signed two guys that none of us had a clue the Bears were in contact with. We're getting smoke screens on St. Clair and Sharper and then we sign Omiyale and Bullocks. Seeing that San Diego made Eric Weddle one of the highest paid safeties in football reminded me of how the Bears botched a perfect trade. During the 2007 Draft, the Chargers traded the 62nd pick, 93rd pick, a 2008 3rd & 5th rounder to move up to the 37th pick and select Weddle. I praised JA for getting a a 2nd, 2 3rds, and a 5th for a 2nd. Helluva a deal. Unless you use those picks to take Dan Bazuin, Garrett Wolfe, Kevin Payne, and Marcus Harrison. Yikes.

Is it just my thinking that if Jennings keeps playing the way he has been for the past two games the rest of the season....he will punch his ticket for the Pro Bowl? He has been great so far.

The Bears are now 3-7, but the offense has put up 29+ pts in the last 4 weeks. How much of this is Getsy "unlocking" Fields and how much is it Fields just being superhuman? For as much as I have liked some of what I have seen so far, this is a historically bad passing attack that can't win games. Without literally magician level stuff from Fields, how bad would this offense look right now? How hard is it to scheme players open? The Lions defense was one of the worst in the league and the Bears mustered only 167 yards passing with 50 coming on one play to Kmet. Has anyone seen a quick slant yet? It still feels like something is missing. Too many plays take too long to…

With the drafting of Chris Conte, there's an assumption the D Manning is gone. The thing is, will Manning even be a free agent? Pending more court rulings, there's a good chance the lock-out will again be lifted and that the NFL will use 2010 rules. Under those rules, Manning would again not be a free agent. On a side note, Manning had a good season and after 5 years, we finally discovered his best position is SS. I wouldn't mind having him back.
