No matter who the coach is the Jaguars have not lost in Chicago!

The reviews and instant grades are coming in. For me this was an excellent weekend. For a draft that started late 3rd Rd we still picked up two players with 2nd Rd grades. Montgomery is a starter week 1. Ridley is a future WR2 starter. Shelley looks like at least a solid backup NB but has the potential to become a starter. Whyte has enough ability to develop into a 3rd RB after a year on the practice squad but may only find a niche as a special teams player. Denmark is just an athletic freak. I'm really curious to see how he handles the jump to the NFL but Pace saw enough not to take a chance on grabbing him as a UDFA. Then in UDFAs we added OG Bars…

I'm seeing that MLB stars are opting out of the season. I can agree with their decision, and feel that this is going to give a bunch of MLB wannabees a once-in-a-lifetime chance to make the big leagues. I wonder, with the way things sit now, will that spill over to the NFL? Where would we get "replacement players"? It would be a great opportunity for many borderline guys, but I remember the strike season and didn't like the on-field product. Great opportunity for new guys, but where would we get these fill-in players?

1. Jonathan Martin, OT, Stanford ---Finally, a franchise LT for Cutler. 2. Chandler Jones, DE, Syracuse ---Jones looks like, with a few pounds added, a future 8-9 sack NFL player. 3. Josh Norman, CB, Coastal Carolina ---Norman's stock really rose recently, and the Bears need a young CB. 4. TY Hilton, WR, Florida International ---Hilton had a huge pro day, running in the 4.3's. If they're interested in Kendall Wright, a smaller WR, they should look at Hilton as well. 5. Had a good year in 2009 but has fell of since. Started 2 games 2 years ago for the Pats, recorded 3 sacks. No question a vet min deal which doesn't hurt. Probably competes with Austin Lane for a spot on the team.

Interesting pick and this is likely a by-product of all the time they put into Devin Singletary. You can't watch an FAU game without wondering who the other guy in their backfield was. If you liked the idea of taking Tony Pollard late in the draft you will like Whyte. Similar style players and I'd say he has a shot at replacing Davis in the backfield in a year or two. In the meantime he offers some KR return ability so that might be his best chance to get on the field this year. This year I see him ending up on the practice squad. All year it’s been kind of the same. Flashes of brilliance mixed with horrific accuracy and suspect mechanics. I keep waiting for a huge, breakout game. Drafted by the Cowboys at 30. Grew up about 15 miles from where I live and went high school five miles away at Big Foot High School. I stood about five feet from him on the field at Camp Randall. I hate Cowboys but I will be rooting for him. Peace
