Not sure if this has been posted, but I think this just went up over the weekend, and it's a really nice resource for getting some video on the draft prospects. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/football/...aft/2008/video/

QB's have fallen in the past, what if he drops down to us? Do you want angelo to take him? Is he a franchise QB? I have this vision of ryan available and angelo having another david terrel moment, not really being prepared for the scenario.

It's been awhile! I had to take some time off from any kind of Bearstalk. I was so frustrated with Bears management and CO. last year that I had to recharge my batteries. I missed some members, especially the old guards of BearsTalk. I hope they are still here and active in this forum. I do have some reservations on this up comming season. We all know that they need quality starting players on offense and a couple on defense. But their coaching staff is in need of repair also. Can you remember any olinemen that was drafted and has become a good consistant starter ? I can't ? How about QB's ,Wr's, and rb's ? We do have a shot at TE if they don't have him put on x…

Here are some second round reasons why the Bears shouldn't pick Rashard Mendenhall in the first round. (In no particular order) Ray rice Felix Jones Matt Forte There are quite a few RB that look like they will be able to improve the run game. I personally want Chris Johnson because I still believe speed kills (4.24). But there is a strong possiblity Jonathan Stewart will fall to the Bears because of his injury.

Josh Beekman Resurrects When the Chicago Bears selected Josh Beekman in the 4th round of the 2007 draft, most fans were very pleased with the selection. They thought they got a player who was projected to go as high as the 2nd round in the 4th round. Jerry Angelo started the process of injecting youth into the aging offensive line. The Bears had high expectations for the 2008 season, especially on the offensive side of the ball. No one expected the Bears offense to recess like it did, and a big factor was the breaking down of the offensive line. Players played injured until it was time to fold the cards. Ruben Brown played most of the season with a torn should…

The Chicago Sun Times believes that the Bears are more likely to cut ties with Cedric Benson this offseason than Garrett Wolfe. Admitting mistakes isn't GM Jerry Angelo's strongsuit, so a three-year old error would be a bit easier to deal with than a one-year old admission. Wolfe still has potential, but is unlikely to be higher than third on the depth chart. Source: Chicago Sun Times Long-term contract discussions between the Bears and DT Tommie Harris have broken off. Getting him locked up is still the Bears' priority, but Harris and his agent (Drew Rosenhaus) are asking for record money. Chicago is thought to have offered more than the seven years, $50.5 mi…

As I'm a bit bored speculating on the draft at the moment, I thought it might be fun to start a thread...and eventually get a consesnus on an All time Bears Roster. If you would so indulge me, I think only listing the starters at the below positions would be necessary. I'd love to get the player's name and why you feel he's the one. Feel free to list one's that were honerable mentions, but you can only vote for one per se... I figure I can set up a poll for any that aren't clear cut winners. Here's the listing O-D-ST. I'll list my picks a bit later... The only rule is that the player had to be a starter on the Bears for at least a season... We will assume he's…

From the sound of it, negotiations are picking up. The Sun Times is reporting Harris' camp has received a new offer from the Bears. Harris was supposed to meet w/ Rosenarce to discuss the offer. The Sun Times was also showing the top 3 DT contracts The article talks about how Harris is going to want to be paid more than any on this list, and any offer from the bears below Kelly's, would likely not go over well. My question is this. Last year, Harris said he believes he should be paid in line w/ the top defensive players in the NFL. He didn't say top DTs, but defensive players. I have also read that Rosenarce is likely going to use Freeney's d…

This is the draft following the 2005-2006 season. To set the scene, the Bears had just finished with the best defense in the NFL with only 12.6 points allowed per game. They were also 2nd best in total yards allowed per game and 11th in rush and 5th in passing yards allowed. The Bears had the 2nd most int's of any team that year. They were tied for most Defensive TD's and in the top 10 in sacks. The offense wasn't quite as productive. The Bears were 27th on points per game (16.3) and 29th in yards per game. The defense was good, the offense was putrid, so lets draft a lot of offense right? Well, not exactly. The Bears draft that year was as follows:…

I GMed the NFLfans Mock Draft this past weekend for the Bears over on www.nflfans.com, so I thought I'd let people know how things went (spoiler alert: BEST DRAFT EVER!). Ok, not really. But considering the holes the Bears have and the guys I got, I think this would really help the talent base on the team in some key places and hopefully put the Bears in position to get back to the top of the division where they belong. The breakdown (with video highlights when I could find them): 1) Branden Albert, OT/OG, Virginia - I was planning to go OL in the first and had my choice of Albert, Williams, and Otah. For me, the decision was between Williams and Albert. I took Alber…

http://sports-ak.espn.go.com/nfl/index Mort, jaws , Kiper and tirico talking about Bears. I think Mort is talking out of A$$. Keep Berrian? for that money? He talks about it as though the only decisions on players are whether you have depth there. I think he just didn't do his homework. And as far as spending cash, look you we have coming up in contract talks-Harris, Hester and who we have signed in the last year- Vasher, Tillman and Briggs. Starters anywhere.

Mario Manningham and Aqib Talib have reportedly been removed from "multiple teams'" draft boards due to alleged marijuana use in college. Talib reportedly acknowledged at the Combine that he tested positive for pot three times at KU. Mario denied testing positive initially, then sent a letter to all 32 teams admitting he lied. Manningham claims he failed two drug tests at Michigan. Gaines Adams, Amobi Okoye, and Calvin Johnson were involved in a similar situation last year. Their draft stocks were not affected. Apr. 8 - 10:41 am et Source: Pro Football Weekly ESPN.com reports that a campaign is underway to oust NFLPA chief Gene Upshaw. This is a story that wil…

Hopefully JA realizes that Benson wasn't the man last year when healthy, and now is even more unlikely returning from a broken ankle. C'mon mendenhall!! There will be just as suitable olinmen in the 2-7th rounds. http://blogs.suntimes.com/bears/2008/04/me...halas_hall.html

Unhappy Urlacher to skip Bears' 1st voluntary workout By Vaughn McClure Tribune reporter April 6, 2008, 11:42 PM CDT For the second year in a row, the Bears will be without a Pro Bowl linebacker for the start of their voluntary off-season program, in part because of an unresolved contract situation. Brian Urlacher told the Tribune on Sunday he plans to skip the first day of workouts, slated to begin Monday, and left open the strong possibility that he will bypass the Bears' entire voluntary off-season program, which includes organized team activities (OTAs). The face of the Bears franchise informed the team of his intentions to remain in Arizona ra…

Caught this from the Sun Times Briggs' deal has protection for team after 2009 The Bears have never had issue with the performance Lance Briggs has provided on the field. Ultimately, it’s why general manager Jerry Angelo said at the combine that he did not have a problem investing in the three-time Pro Bowl linebacker long term as a core player after he earned more than $7.2 million last season with the franchise tag.... But they’ve also protected themselves in the future. Briggs’ $3.3 million roster bonus for 2010—the final roster bonus in the deal—does not come due until June 10 of that year. That’s three months after most roster bonuses are paid at or near …
