I know I've been absent from the board for most of the season but work had called. I still have been fuming over what transpired the last 2 months or so. Here are the Top-10 things that need to happen prior to 2012 if we have any hope: 1. Jerry Angelo needs to go before the draft. If McCaskey want's to make a name for himself on this team, this must be done. JA has pissed draft after draft away and they can't afford to let him shyt the bed again. JA has neglected to get a decent second string. He hasn't taken into account injuries occur or people won't pan out. 2. Martz and his offense need to go. For the last 2 years, they haven't clicked until 5-6 weeks …

These point were said on the Score by Hub, these are things coming out of Halas Hall Ted Phillips fired JA really to get the hot seat away from himself. In Ted's presser he said he had a list of potential GM's. Word is no one is interested in the GM job, or should i say no one worth a shit is interested in even interviewing for the job. We know Mckenzie was not interested, look at his first move, Jackson fired. Tell me the Lovie rule by the Bears didnt make Mckenzie not even consider the Bears. Decosta took himself off the list. That leaves Les Snead from ATL- since his name surfaced i have not heard a thing. I wonder if the Bears reached out to him and he has a…

Cole is reporting that Vincent Jackson has narrowed his choice to the Bears & Bucs. Take it for what it is worth. Note: I personally put little validity into these type of leaks because I assume they have to be coming from the players and their reps and they probably want to throw a few teams out there to push/drive the market. I have to believe Emery has kept his free agent plans very close to the vest given the way he plans on running the Bears (e.g., secretively).

I think we can say that the Bears have a game plan, and what they have did so far is clear. A #1 WR and they have Marshall. In the last 5 years they is only one WR that has more catches, Welker. Fix the backup QB spot, they now have 2 that could give us good minutes. Resign who they wanted back from our own. Ildonije, Stelz, McCown, Davis, Bell, Jennings.(I think they still may sign Okoye. They chased Mincey and didnt get him, so that tells me DE will probably be our # 1 round pick. They wont be going after Wimbley.( to much money) That they are satisfied with the Oline, but are trying for Herrera, and a 2nd or 3rd round pick at OT. They resig…

The Bears can now trot out the following: QB: Cutler RBs: Forte, Bush WRs: Marshall, Bennett, Jeffery, Hester, Knox(?) TEs: Davis, Rodriguez There appear to be no excuses left over this year. What are your expectations for the offense? Top half of the league? Top ten of the league? What I do know is this: 2012 is the year we finally get to settle the age-old debate on TalkBears about whether amassing enough skill-position players can overcome a weak OL. Unless Webb has an epiphany, Louis turns better than average, Garza finds the fountain of youth, and the two high draft picks stay healthy, I think this will be yet another year where the Bears h…

It's been a little quiet lately (besides reading the "great debates" by Wesson and Jason), so lets start a discussion on players that may surprise us a little by contributing more than we might expect in 2012. I'm gonna give an offensive and a defensive player that I think will make a mark on the 2012 season. Offensively, I think we will see some great plays this year and I hope Alshon Jeffery makes a mark, but the one guy I think that will surprise us all with making big plays is TE Evan Rodriguez. I think he will rack up a lot of YAC and be Cutlers check down and them two will develop great chemistry. Defensively, I think Shea McClellin will also make h…

JaMarcus Webb is better than Chris Williams. The ceiling vs floor argument should be over, as Williams floor at LT is immensly low. He doesn't have the quickness, power or leverage to sustain blocks. Sure, he makes less mistakes than Webb, but it's not enough to overcome his shortcomings. Webb wins by default. That being said, we are in desparate need of an LG. Spencer makes too much money to have a roster spot. He takes a paycut or gets cut - IMO. Rachal was a wasted signing and should be cut. Carimi looked much better, with Garza an Louis remaining solid. I have to say, in this make or break year. I go for it and put Williams back at LG as…

Lots of UDFAs/try out players coming in. Not super excited by most of these at first glance, though I could see Sanborn sticking at LB. https://www.windycitygridiron.com/2022/4/30/23044142/chicago-bears-2022-udfa-news-rumor-tracker-ryan-poles-matt-eberflus-undrafted-free-agent-nfl-draft

Funny how other QBs, especially young ones can have a low volume game, but it is only a big deal with Fields does it: Zach Wilson 1st Half: 6-12, 28 yds passing, 2 sacks Trevor Lawrence 1st Half: 7-8, 45 yds passing, 4 sacks Kenny Pickett 1st Half: 11-16, 68 yds, 1 TD, 1 sack

Let the debate begin. However unfair, this season is likely to cost Flus, Getsy and Fields their jobs. I hate it, due to being so hopefull, but snake bitten is what it is. Poles should be given the opportunity to finish the rebuild, as I believe he has done the job pretty well to date. I've been reading and watching video on both quarterbacks lately and they both have unique skills sets. Both have cannon arms with quick releases. Williams is better short and Maye is better long. Both QB's are pocket first run later, with Williams being more creative and Maye more explosive. This is the first year, I can remember, where two generational QB's will go 1 and…

Self deprecating humor aside, I am changing my coaching preference. I'm down to three coaches only. The only criteria for these choices are experience, success and culture. That eliminates Johnson. Vrabel-he's the front runner to get the Patriots gig. Add that Georgie it's probably afraid of him. Carroll - one of his personnel said Pete is a guy that makes everyone believe they are a huge piece of the puzzle. Gets maximum buy-in and effort out of everyone. McCarthy - I consider him because he knows how to build a culture and run a camp. Here's my choice, if all I hear is true. Pete Carroll evidently proposed to the Bears that he has a three …

Some people think that Kingsbury has did a better job with a rookie QB than Johnson with Goff. Pluses: former HC Has developed QBs Has a relationship with Caleb Did have some success but failed after Murray got hurt. He may be looked at as a viable candidate for a HC job.

Rondale Moore and Mecole Hardman visited the Bears today. I really would love a short term deal for Moore. 24 with tons of speed - coming off injury and I think in right role could thrive as a slot / take the top off guy with some gadget and special teams thrown together. Both players are speed guys. Moore was like 4.33 coming out - injuries have been a big issue with him and he missed all of last year.

We need to look at the overall off-season to see what Poles has accomplished this year. Got the best coach on the market and spent good money on assistants. Added to both lines with quality additions. Added contracts for Gordon and Jackson who were on last years. The draft gave us 4 quality players in the first 4 picks. 2 potential all pro types and 2 first year contributors. The rest of the draft gave us high risk high upside players. Dane Brugler has the most complete draft guide on the market. Well respected in football circles. We ended up with 4 top 100 prospects. Loveland -11, Burden-27, Turner -56, Trapilo -79 He had mentions …

ok, i have made my opinions on keeping moore in past threads. i don't have the time or resources to go through a 3 year span of his games in chicago but if this is the argument that he quits on plays or is too expensive then someone needs to do the 'receivers' comparison to realistically back up your opinions or they are just a knee jerk reaction. 1. MONEY: this is nearly a mute point with me. good franchises find ways to keep their systems working under the cap every single year. added to this is on every good roster there is at least one high paid receiver. the other 'replacement' receivers are ALL on rookie contracts. our QB is still on his rookie contract. our …
