My pouting is over..if only momentary. I couldn’t stay away from this board indefinitely especially when I see Adam (and a few others) and I are agreeing on nearly everything going on with the Bears right now. And when I saw this article (below) from players past and their ... let’s say no-nonsense... response to yesterday’s game. I knew I wasn’t alone in my utter frustration! They speak my language. He's disappeared. I know the Bears exercised the 5th year option on him but, at this time, he's not playing anywhere close to that value ($13.2 million). My understanding is the Bears could simply cut him before the beginning of the league year and would not have to pay him. Is this correct? Peace

Here is a list of QBs selected in the top 10 since 2010 (19). Outside of Newton, Luck, Mahomes, and maybe Wentz, do any of these other guys strike you as 15-year franchise QBs? I know you can say the same about any position or pick in the top 10, but with all the scouting and analysis, it would seem like the QB position would be one of the easier ones to assess properly. 1. Can you believe the Bears signed Glennon and drafted Trubisky in the same offseason and then benched Glennon after he had 4 straight games with a TD pass, completed over 63% of his passes and 3 games with over 200 yards passing (1x 300 yard game)? For as bad as we thought Glennon was (which he was), Trubisky is actually worse. Trubisky has 0 TD passes in 6 of his last 8 games (not including MIN game where he left with injury). Trubisky now has as many games with less than 200 yards passing than he has with more than 200 yards passing (16 games each). Glennon, in comparison has 13 games over 200 yards, 9 games under 200. This is the first game in a while that the Bears are not favored, go figure lol. I am surprised it is only by 4 points. Philly is an even more Jekyll and Hyde team than the Bears. In each of Philly's wins, they've scored over 30 points and in their 4 losses, they have allowed 24 or more. Their offense has scored 20 or more in 7 out of 8 games and their defense has allowed 20 or more pts 6 times. The Bears counter with 6 games allowing 17 or less and 3 games scoring 17 or more. OK, this year is going the way it is going. Down the tubes fast. And with our current QB's on the roster I don't see any way they will help us in the future. They will keep playing Mitch for the rest of the year but I don't see him as the answe going forward. We have an above average defense and it seems like good offensive with the running backs and wide receivers on the roster. If Burton can get back to normal health he is serviceable for the next two+ years. The offensive line is a problem but I think with a 2nd round pick or two it will work its way into above average. Two me that leaves us a QB short with only a few years window open for a good playoff run. …

I was thinking about this. Can you imagine Bill Belichick having a dance party in the locker room after regular season wins? How do you expect he would deal with players underperforming? Can you even imagine him calling only 7 run plays in a game? I was wondering about Nagy giving his playcalling duties over to the actual OC, and then he could focus on... what exactly... Team culture, birds eye view etc? If anything is true it's that our culture is not pushing these guys to play well. It's WAY too permissive. Pace has done a decent job stocking this roster. Ok, early in the 2nd quarter, the Bears have 1st and 10 on the Saints 24. #1. The Bears send Gabriel in motion and no one follows. Trubisky fakes handoff/RPO to Montgomery and immediately looks towards ARob. Massie blocks inside and Jordan is unblocked on the edge (play design?). Coward/Massie double team DT, Whitehair/Daniels double the other. Monty looks to be running between those two, but doesn't get the ball. #2. Trubisky still staring down ARob, Jordan stops to ensure Montgomery doesn't have ball, both Miller and Gabriel open. Gabriel has to be in Trubisky's field of view. #3. One glaring weakness in Trubisky's game is the lack of rushes. He has played in 5 games (4 full) and has 5 rushes for 21 yards. Chase Daniel has 6 rushes. Mike Davis has 9. He had 7 rushes for 32 yards against GB last year in one game. In his first 5 full games, he had 25 carries for 164 yards and 1 TD. He needs to run the ball. For QBR purposes, Trubisky has -0.9 running which is on par with Cousins, Keenum, and Winston. His overall QBR is 34.2 (50.0 is average QB). Last year Mitch had a QBR of 71.0, 3rd to only Mahomes and Brees. His Run QBR was a 22.1. Last year his passing was 43.1, this year it's down to 2.4. The Chargers are 2-5, and are in worse shape than the Bears somehow. Keenan Allen DNP on Thursday due to a hamstring injury. McManis is the only Bear listed on report. Derwin James, like Hicks is out. This is a great game to get the running game going as the Chargers are 21st against the run. All of the Chargers losses (5) have been by a TD or less. I have very little faith in this team, but based on what I have seen from the news conferences and media interviews, the team finally seems to be pissed off. Hopefully, they take it out on the Chargers this week. I am predicting a dominant performance with a defensive TD. Bears roll 27-13

Danny Trevathan has become my favorite players on the team, alongside Mack and Hicks of course. His silent leadership quality paired with his overall being a good man and player gives me confidence if anyone is going to will this team to do better it’s going to be because of someone like Trevathan. The trading deadline is on October 29th and the Bears have some tough decisions to make. They are 3-3 and I think the outcome of the Chargers game will determine which way they go at the deadline. They obviously have some needs and I could actually see them as buyers and sellers even if they win. If they lose, you have to think fire sale and clean up the cap while recouping picks. Right now they have a few candidates to be cut in the offseason to save money for next year. Those guys include Amukamara, Davis, Gabriel, Patterson, and Shaheen. They also have others who would become FA's in the offseason: Daniel, Sowell, RRH, Trevathan, Kwiatkoski, Lynch, and HHCD. …

They gave up picks to move up one spot and draft a QB no one thought was worth it. They could of had the pick of the litter at three. Have given up picks for Saheen, Montgomery, Miller, on and on. All were thought at the time to be good moves by Pace. But players drafted at all the positions have proven to be better. The off line is missing only one starter this year. The D is under performing the past three games. And they have no picks to replace all the underperforming players.
