I've been thinking about our OL almost exclusively, this off season. I'm thinking we have some highly tradeable talent on this roster that we can utilize to upgrade the OL. The reason I'm talking trade is because I want a rising player, not a cap cut or scrap heap player. Here's a look at our tradeable players. D. Manning - will not hurt us to be gone. Cap friendly for whoever may want him. R. Manning -Obviously already on the block. Cap friendly for us and may fill a huge need for a deprived team. A. Adams - Looking good for us, but we are deep. I'm not nearly as optimistic as Jeremy Stoltz is regarding our running game. I'd love for him to be right and I do agree that the pieces we have on offense are not that bad. We know we can't protect the edge of the pocket on med-to-deep passes and Cutler will never be a good quick-release short-route QB so if running up the middle works have at it. Bears draft a safety from Cal. Personally, I'm puzzled but my guess is we don't think Manning is coming back. I haven't heard any commentary yet on our pick. Still, I had other needs on our list that I would have opted for before taking this guy.

Even with the Bears off, CAR plays TB, NE plays LAC, and NYJ plays ATL. 3 games with draft implications. CAR loss to TB solidifies the #1 pick while also helping with the Bears pick (TB gets another win). NE winning would be huge for the Bears, but even if LAC wins, that keeps the Bears actual pick in the top 8. An NYJ win would keep the Bears in the top 7. So if TB beats CAR, NYJ beats ATL, and LAC beats NE, the Bears would have a great shot at a top 6 pick. We have an offense that needs help. So what do you do as the GM. IMHO i would look what we have left in FA and get the cheapest but best player out there like Starks from Pitt,Scott from Indy or the Seahawks Locklear or the guy from the Chargers Olivera (or somthing to that nature) Then I would go drafting. I would get Clady(OT) in the first RD. Flacco (QB)in the second RD, Charles or Johnson(RB) in the third McGlynn(G/T) in the fourth, Hubbard or Hall(WR) in the fifth, six and seventh best player in those rounds. With 3 days remaining until the rookies report here's who I'm focused on this year in camp/preseason. It's a rare year with little battles to look forward to for starting jobs. So it's about the depth and future of the roster for me. I want to see Tolliver really ascend and demonstrate confidence to take over one of the outside CB slots next year. Likely cut Prince saves $8mil in cap space in 2020. Stephen Denmark...is he the real deal or just a paper tiger? Can he replace McManis as our special teams ace this year? Last year we had a thread for all the rumblings that went on at the Senior Bowl, perhaps we can do that again this year, mods pin this if you agree. Anyway, per Biggs Iowa TE CJ Fiedorowicz said first team he met with at Senior Bowl was #Bears I'm somewhat intrigued by them even talking to a potential "impact" TE. By impact I mean a player who will contribute. Ryan Clady ran a 5.18 forty and posted a 31" vertical at the Boise State Pro Day. Clady tweaked his pectorals on the bench press at the Combine and was unable to do the rest of his drills.
