Former RB for the Rams. So I guess that takes drafting an RB off the table? Not a bad choice. He's more a scat back. Reminds me of Sproles. Definitely different than both Langford and Howard. http://chicago.cbslocal.com/2017/03/21/bea...to-1-year-deal/

The TV crews camped out at Halas Hall awaiting the return of Cedric Benson, but the Bears’ running back did not meet his stated goal of rejoining the club’s offseason program today. Benson was absent for the voluntary workout program, a teammate said, missing for a second day after his arrest Saturday night on Lake Travis near Austin, Texas. Benson told the Sun-Times Sunday night that he expected to return to work Tuesday after tending to matters Monday in Texas. His participation in the workout program thus far has been spot on, the player said, and it’s expected Benson will return soon. Ever since signing, Benson has never been a problem when it comes to at…

Benson looks forward to clearing name, winning starting job Associated Press LAKE FOREST, Ill. -- Cedric Benson was back in Bears camp Wednesday working out with the first string weeks after he was arrested in Texas. Benson was arrested on Lake Travis in Texas on suspicion of boating while under the influence and resisting arrest. He said neither charge is true. "It would be nice to have it gone and get it cleared up and over with, but you know, I don't really spend too much time thinking about it at all," Benson said. "I'm sticking to my story and the truth will come out, sometime, whether it be now or a year from now or whenever." Benson has a …

from profootballtalk.com: BENSON CLAIMS HE ACED SOBRIETY TEST Posted by Michael David Smith on June 9, 2008, 9:13 a.m. Bears running back Cedric Benson, whose job is in jeopardy after he was arrested for drunk driving, claims that he aced the field sobriety test after a police officer pulled him over in Austin, Texas. The Chicago TV station WMAQ reported Sunday night that Benson sent a text message to one of its reporters saying, “I aced the field test, check the video.” So far no video of the incident has been released, but an Austin police spokeswoman offered a different version of events, saying Benson was arrested as a result of poor performance in…

Just read this on MSNBC.com: When Cedric Benson was being arrested over the weekend, he apparently responded to the face full of pepper spray by crying, and calling out for his mother. That’s probably not the ideal makeup for a running back in the NFL. The weepy-eyed mugshot can be viewed here. (Chicago Sun-Times)> Now, I'm not really a Benson lover/hater. I want the guy who wears our uni to perform on the field. But it seems to me that, if you got sprayed with pepper spray, who wouldn't cry? And the reports said his mom was on the boat, so why not call for her? I read this and I have to say PLLLEEEEEZE!

  10. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/cs-08...,3247255.column He wasn't crying because he was overcome with joy or pride. He wasn't crying over the honor of running in the city where Walter Payton ran or playing for a proud franchise that reveres its football stars or any other reason he has offered the past three years. No, Cedric Benson cried on the day of the NFL draft in 2005 because he was upset the Bears took him with the fourth overall selection. Benson was bugged that Jerry Angelo decided to draft him despite Benson's representatives making clear in a last-minute phone call that they and the Bears weren't on the same page regarding fundame…

Cedric Bensen In Court For Speeding On the Edens CHICAGO (WBBM) -- Now it's a speeding ticket that sends Cedric Benson to court. The Bears running back paid a $510 fine and received four months supervision, for chugging a little too quickly through the Edens Expressway construction zone last month. Bensen was pulled over going 77 mph in a 45 mph zone when he was pulled over after 3 a.m. last month, police say. Earlier this month Bensen was arrested on a drinking-related charge in Austin, Texas. Benson failed a sobriety test while operating a 30-foot boat on Lake Travis near Austin and resisted arrest before being hit with pepper spray, Travis Cou…

http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/ for picture on boat New witness calls pepper spray 'ludicrous, no point for it' Often accused of being nonchalant in Chicago, Cedric Benson has been anything but laid-back trying to clear his name back home in Texas. Benson continued an aggressive approach to defending himself against charges of boating while intoxicated and resisting arrest by hiring a new attorney considered one of Austin's finest and most high-profile defense attorneys. Lawyer Sam Bassett already has interviewed 10 people who were on Benson's boat Saturday night when Benson was arrested on Lake Travis, outside Austin, and described, accordi…

Benson was arrested for DUI in the day preceding his release. In May, he was arrested for boating while intoxicated. Benson also must take alcohol counseling courses as a condition of his bail. Meanwhile, Taco Bill has chimed in on the situation with a new Pic of the Day.

Good or bad thing for the Bears? I thought he was essentially ineffective for them and gave them a false sense of security at the running game. He also didn't lose the ball much but that was only a matter of time before he did. I would think this is good for the Bears as the other RB's on GB are all unproven. Hopefully this makes them even more one-dimensional.

from profootballtalk.com BENSON TO THE BENGALS Posted by Mike Florio on September 30, 2008, 4:12 p.m. At a time when the Cincinnati Bengals seemed to be the favorite to land 2005 NFL MVP Shaun Alexander, a native of nearby Florence, Kentucky, the Bengals threw the league a curveball on Tuesday, signing tailback Cedric Benson. The team has announced via a press release the addition of Benson. He’ll replace DeDe Dorsey, who has been placed on injured reserve. Benson was the fourth overall pick in the 2005 draft. The Bears dumped him after a lackluster 2007 season as the clear-cut starter — and after two alcohol-related arrests in less than a month. Th…
