Just seen an national article that stated THE BEARS PURSUE BYRD AND WARD. There was an article in the SunTimes by Jahns that stated the Bears might be interested in going after those two because we had bad safeties last year. So someone else uses that to write an article that states we are pursuing them. Rumors get started on opinions and then they become statements. It is all bull crap. Ill stick with Brad Briggs, and weed thru the rest.

Bears are 13 pt dogs. I think we lose, but it is closer than the spread due to a late garbage time TD and the weather You like the cold, game time temperature is projected to be -7 with the entire game played below zero. Viqueens 20-13

Rumors are swirling down at the Combine. Bears trade Howard and in exchange receive Landry and a 3rd Rd pick. Howard is not a good fit with his lack of receiving skills. https://twitter.com/Eric_Edholm/status/970011249550479360

out in the 2nd half with a foot injury. hopefully this is a minor injury. callahan is one of the most improved players this season and really anchors our defensive backfield when on the field. this guy is a keeper.

Some Bye Week fun, I was thinking about the Anthony Miller draft-day trade; at first when it occurred, I thought Pace had the right idea, we would get a WR a year early with the following year's WR corps looking fairly weak (even though we got Ridley in the 4th). However, now over a year removed from that decision, did Pace pick the wrong player? DJ Chark and Mark Andrews were both available when Miller was selected. What if the Bears just stayed at #105? The best skill player selected after that slot is probably SEA TE Will Dissly, so if they picked him, they would still have their 2019 2nd rounder where guys like McLaurin, Metcalf, and Hardman were still availabl…

So we traded Howard (making $2M) to then sign Davis for $3M a year. However, due to that signing, we lost a 4th round comp pick for the loss of Amos. If we cut Davis by Saturday, the Bears would recoup the 4th rounder and still have the 6th rounder for Howard next April. If Pace is not a complete idiot (jury is still out), then he has to make this move. We could've kept Howard, saved $1M and had a backfield of Howard, Montgomery, and Cohen this year. It's still mind-boggling that the Bears made this move. Pace now seems like one of those dumb people who think they are the smartest guy in the room. The Bears are 29-43 under Pace and headed for the 4th last …

I had nothing better to do today, so I took the time to do a breakdown of every offensive snap. While we tend to look at things like time to throw, running lanes and play calling, I tried to focus on why. What I found was 44 mistakes that could stand to be cleaned up. There are always going to be mistakes that lead to failed execution, but 44 is way too many when you run 61 offensive plays. Here's the tally for miscues. QB=14, HC=2, TE=6, RB=4 and OL=18 Going try to copy my play by play sheet, but it may be ugly. Play # Actual Play Comments Play 1 Run off LT Adequate block on edge…

https://www.nbcsports.com/chicago/bears/6-bears-head-coach-candidates-if-matt-nagy-fired-including-ryan-day Thought it might be good to start putting a thread together on our general thoughts on who might be a good candidate. Below article from NBC sports seemed like a good starting point. I think the big thing to me is - I think I've gained an appreciation for experience, finding a coaching candidate who has seen the rodeo and understands and has showed a skillset to consistently evolve in the league. When the Bears went with Nagy - I really couldn't argue the hire. Pace went the way the league was going and found a young, innovative, up and coming mind who h…

Crazy to think about how the 2017 and now the 2018 draft will play out. Cleveland passes on Trubisky and Watson, but gets the Texans 1st rounder this year. No way they envisioned the Texans would be worse and their rookie QB lost for the year with an injury. The Texans look to be in bad shape. They do not have a 1st rounder, and who knows what Watson looks like after injury. Cleveland looks bad on one hand (for passing on Tru and Watson) but brilliant on the other hand, now having two top 5 picks (which they will ultimately mess up). So they could end up with Garrett, a top tier QB prospect and another top tier prospect (like Barkley). So who needs a QB? …

Right now, with current records, we only have one game vs a prospective playoff team (LAR), and 3 games against potential playoff teams (GB and MIN x2). If we split the division and go 3-2 the rest of the way, beat the teams with 2 or less wins (BUF, SF, NYG) and lose to LAR, that's 6-3 the rest of the way without too much stretching. Week 9 at BUF (2-5) - Bills are coming off a MNF game and a short week. They have scored 81 pts on the season in 7 games. We should and need to dominate this game. I would consider resting Mack and Robinson again if they are not 100%. 5-3. Week 10 vs DET (3-4) - Lions games are always determined by which team or Stafford shows up. Are…

27 days until the draft. Let's get started on some serious draft talk. What positions and players do you think we need? This year has us limited on picks, but we can find some gems. As George Thorogood said, "Who do you love":

Tarik Cohen got 99 carries last year to Jordan Howard's 250. The split figures to change a bit since Cohen is incumbent and Howard is gone. So let's call it 125/225. Mike Davis got 112 carries in a 3-way rotation in Seattle last year. There's nearly no doubt at all he can carry more of the load. Additionally, for the coaching staff to dump Howard and pick up Davis, they had to feel pretty comfortable about his fit in the system and his ability to replace Howard for the most part. If there are roughly 225 carries to spread around, then Davis figures to get north of 150 of those carries. I'd guess 175-ish. Which leaves 50 carries or so. That doesn't sound like a b…

Ok, you saw the title and rolled your eyes and sighed, thinking "didn't we say this about another guy?", lol! Let me start by asking, has Trubisky had a clean pocket all year? Has he had a running game all year? Has he had a TE all year? Nagy added to the complexity of the game plan without the benefit of crucial components and work in pre season games. Here's what I think he needs: 1) new OC, someone who understands running game and play action. Trubisky has shown good accuracy on throws under 20. Those can turn into huge plays with YAC. 2) stud TE, one that can run and block. A safety blanket like Jason Whitten is huge on 3…

Man, am I done with Floyd, Lynch, and Prince. Those three need to be gone next year. They are huge holes in our defense. Floyd can't do anything across Khalil Mack, which is borderline criminal for a top 10 pick. He has 3 sacks, 3 TFL, and 0 PD. He only had 4 sacks last year and only 4.5 two years ago. So in his last 38 games, Floyd has 11.5 sacks. That is not enough for the money he is expected to get, even on the 5th year option. He is not worth that much money. Lynch is a lazy and undisciplined player. He was late on the field for a play and just stood there, and had another penalty, and now has 5 on the season. For a situational player, you can't have that many p…
