Barely a half hour into free agency, and the Vikins have set up a Friday visit with Bears receiver Bernard Berrian. Berrian wants a contract that pays out $24.5 million over the first three years, and that includes $12 million guaranteed. He would provide a deep threat for the Vikings' West Coast offense. Have a guy who can stretch the field opens up the various underneath routes in the system. source: pft

  3. http://ww3.startribune.com/vikingsblog/?p=1394 Was that Berrian? You betcha March 1st, 2008 – 12:12 PM by Judd Zulgad An odd thing happened as media members waited in the Winter Park practice facility for the Madieu Williams’ news conference to begin. A Vikings official and someone wearing a Vikings cap and with a Vikings jersey in his arm emerged from the team’s weight room. First thought: Did we just see Bernard Berrian? It certainly wasn’t Williams and it looked like Berrian. (Update: After examining his picture in the Bears media guide, we are now sure it was the 6-foot-1 Berrian.) Later in the Williams’ news conference Vikings coach Brad Chil…

    At the halfway point of the season, here are the top 5 and bottom 5 offensive and defensive players based on PFF Grades: Offense Top 5 (100 snaps): DJ Moore - 84.4 Khalil Herbert - 79.3 Teven Jenkins - 78.1 D'onta Foreman - 74.7 Justin Fields - 73.6 Offense Bottom 5 (100 snaps, worst first): Lucas Patrick - 44.1 Cody Whitehair - 45.1 Robert Tonyan - 46.5 Ja'Tyre Carter - 49.0 Larry Borom - 49.5 Defense Top 5 (100 snaps): Jaylon Johnson - 86.3 TJ Edwards - 81.0 Terell Smith - 70.6 Eddie Jackson - 67.1 Greg Stroman - 66.6 Defense Bottom 5 (100 snaps, worst …

Technically, halftime of this Sunday's game will be the exact halfway point of the season, but with the bye already past, we are sort of at that point now in terms of calendar days. At 5-3, what are some of your bests and worsts for this team so far? For me, the best "best" is Ben Johnson. He is really exceeding expectations in almost every possible way. He is a maniac. He is the anti-Flus and something this team has lacked since Lovie or even Ditka. On offense, I really like the balance of the offense (run vs pass, with no one player being targeted too much). 3 players have 30+ receptions, 6 with 20+ targets, which includes 4x 100-yd receiving games from …

I was listening to a radio show this morning where they talked about the concept of going for the Best Athlete Available instead of necessarily the BPA. They were speaking about the "you can't teach height/weight/speed/etc." stuff, and said that instincts could be taught through repetition. What can't be taught, however, is a 4.4 forty when a guy has maxed out at 4.65 or something like that. You might be able to shave some time here and there, but ultimately that's his speed. A draft that followed the BAA theory kind of goes with what Emery talked about last year in regards to Long. 1. Aaron Donald, DT, Pitt - He fits the concept. A DT faster than some of…

I am glad Poles didn't get an itchy trigger finger and burn down his draft capital with a trade up. Now the Bears have 2 picks in the next 9 picks. I assume that Sanders will go before the Bears pick, so there will only be 6 players taken by the time the Bears pick twice. RB - Henderson, Judkins, Johnson, Skattebo WR - Higgins, Noel, Burden, Harris OT - Ersery IOL - Wilson, Savaiinaea DT - Alexander, Turner, Norman-Lott Edge - Green, Ezeiruaku, Scourton, Jackson, Tuimoloau LB - Schwesinger CB - Johnson (injury concerns), Revel, Amos S - Emmanwori, Winston, Watts The 4 players in bold have a first-round grade and Green and Johnson were both…

Best available for today: RB - Skattebo (76), Sampson (75), Neal, Giddens, Martinez, Tuten IOL - Mbow (74), Frazier DT - Farmer (76), Robinson (74), Pegues, Walker Edge - Swinson (75), Sawyer, Ingram-Dawkins LB - Paul, Stutsman, Simon CB - Riley (74), Frazier S - Bowman, Reed, Ransom (ESPN Grades) The Bears have the 7th pick, in Round 4. I hope Sanders and a few WRs go before the Bears pick, which would give them the best possible pick at 109. There are at least 7 players rated in the top 100 (bold). If Turner is considered a DT, then DT is probably out, so RB or Edge? Skattebo, Sampson, or Swinson?

The best situation would be either Bosa or Buckner dropping. low chance The second best scenario would be us to trade back with Tenn (looking for a OT) which would get us an extra 3rd round pick by TVC. so we trade back with Tenn and get 15th pick (choice of Reed,Lawson,Jackson III) and there 76th pick 15th pick---Lawson / I think we valve pass rushers and he has the body of McPhee and the pass rush skills of Chandler Jones. 41th pick--Cris Jones/DT is still here so we grab a starter for the DL 72nd pick-C J Prossie we definitly grab a RB and he will fit in well with our RBC 76th pick(Tenn trade) Sean Davis can play both CB or S and will start as a …

There is a lot to like about this draft, of course we wont know for 3 years. White, a potential top 10 WR, stud with speed and work ethic. Marshall with speed, youth and wonderful attitude. Larry Fitzgerald type upside Goldman, an anchor for a new 3-4 will be the starter by the end of the year. He will end up being B J Raji type Grasu, a future Olin Kreutz, born leader and go to war mentality. tough and gritty. Olin Kreutz for his upside Langford, didnt like this pick at first, but could actually be our RB of the future. Has speed and work ethic. His upside is CJ Anderson, the Bears now have the zone blocking scheme that many one cut runners excelled…

In the event we don't got Elliott in the first, I can really see the Bears using a pick in the middle rounds on a compliment back to Langford. They have to feel pretty good about their ability to get good value in the middle rounds in RB after getting Langford, and truthfully most of the RBs taken in the middle rounds last year performed pretty well, so they can probably aim to catch a falling RB around the same area they took Langford and get a good complimentary back. My question is, what kind of back do we need as a compliment to Langford? He's kind of an in-between back. He's got the size of a between the tackles guy, but doesn't really run that way. He's go…

I read this article and then looked at some stats to see where we fall. Impossible to know the results, but on face value this is the best draft in quite some time. Fill needs? Check (for the most part...only six picks) Draft BPA related to needs? Check No big reaches? Check No stupid small school picks? Check No injury history guys? Check I don't know how any Bear fan can be truly disappointed with this draft. Even if someone would have preferred different players, it turned out very well. Even Langford, the lone head scratcher, possesses home-run spped at tailback, something the Bears haven't had for quite some time. Between him and White, this team may have an explosive aspect to it in the near future. Bravo…
