  1. Bears' Dvoracek finally fit for duty I am a huge Dusty fan and am anxious to see him back on the field tonight. This guy, if he can remain healthy, along with Harrison & Idonoje, will give us the best defensive tackle rotation in the NFL, PERIOD, no questions asked.
  2. Manage the offense. That term does not have to be a negative. It does not mean we are not out there trying to score points and it does not mean the offense does not plan to try and do it's best to WIN games. To me it just means that we are not going to go out there and take unnecessary chances. To keep the risk/reward factor within reason. Do not turn the ball over, control the clock with a solid running game, make smart decisions in the passing game. That is basically what most teams do, but because we are talking the Bears, not known for high production on the offense, it all of a sudden becomes a negative statement when you say "manage the offense".
  3. Man, everyone really is down on the Bears. Preseason means NOTHING! Here is an article from last year that says it best, with facts to back it up. Also, if I am not mistaken, the year the Bears won the SB I think we actually sucked in preseason! Way too early to give up. I still think we will win the division. 9 or 10 wins minimum. Preseason Games are Meaningless - This Article says it Best!
  4. My guess is as cuts are made from other teams JA will be looking them over carefully to see if there is a veteran OLman or 2 that can be brought in to shore up our OL. Could be a starter or a quality backup, who knows, but I am reasonably sure we will see an addition or two. I will be curious to see how Barton & Beekman do this week. Barton seems to be impressing a lot of "experts" in his development and Beekman had actually shown abilities beyond what many of us expected being he seemed to be shelved all of last year.
  5. Here is a run down on his travels. I think he may hold a record for the number of different practice squads he has been on.
  6. Actually a very good article. Back when Kyle was a rookie he certainly didn't disappoint us with team's success with him at QB. One would think he is far better prepared this time around to lead the team. I hope he does well. I like Rex and he worked his butt off to try and win the starting position, but Kyle worked hard also and deserves his chance.
  7. Well, to avoid having Kyle looking over his shoulder every time he steps on the field, it did run through my mind that if, and I say IF the Bears could trade Rex to anyone for anything, they might bring in a #2 and keep Hanie as #3. Lots of ifs, maybes and ???? in that scenerio.
  8. I think they very well might PS Hanie and bring in another QB.
  9. I just spent the better part of an hour in my truck driving and listening to the Score Radio Station. Nothing at all was said about this. If it were true I am sure they would have known something about it and it would have been all they were talking about. I would love the idea but come on, is it for real, I doubt it.
  10. Now that the selection process is over I would not be surprised to see JA bring in another QB as a #3 or #2. Before I think it would have been a distraction. Now I think it is a neccesity.
  11. If true, so be it, I have always said I would back either Rex or Kyle when named the starter. I hope he proves to be the QB that can solve this riddle we have going on with our offense. We will find out soon enough.
  12. If all comes about that you mentioned in the paragraph above, we will be a SB contender, win our division, and go deep into the playoffs. Therefore, I hope you are granted your wish.
  13. Hopefully Barton & Beekman will continue to impress as I feel both could be a partial solution, just not sure if it will be this year, as one is a rookie and the other a 2nd year player who was basically shelved his first year.
  14. I must admit to some of the same concerns. We can only hope preseason, as history usually confirms, is no true indicator as to the quality of play one will see once the season begins. I am sure a lot of what we are seeing called now is being done for evaluation purposes more than to try and win a meaningless preseason game. By calling certain plays it gives the coaching staff a chance to evaluate a certain player or unit. I pray to whoever you pray to that this is the case in what we are seeing.
  15. I think we can say it was more mixed reviews this time than last. He again showed good scrambling ability when he was almost sacked but somehow eluded the grasp of a defensive player and made positive yardage on the play. However, he did throw an interception also. Not bad, but not as positive as the first game. He was 5/9 for 46 yds 1 TD (to K Davis, heck of a catch) and 1 INT.
  16. Booker is one of those vets that never shows up in practice or preseason highlight films. Some players are like that and I heard in an interview this is his MO. I do not think he will be cut and once the season starts he will show why the Bears picked him back up.
  17. I thought Clark's injury was considered minor and he would be fine for the opener? Has anyone heard differently?
  18. LOL, I was just thinking the same thing. Must say, however, good job on the editing!
  19. One of these days I will get around to buying a DVD recorder, but alas, the $$$ is not available for me to do so now, so I wish I could help you out but I am unable to do so. Hopefully one of our forum members will assist you and the guys you are with serving our country in Iraq by responding to your request.
  20. Well, looking over the roster I saw 8 names that stick out as strong candidates for early cuts, so I would say the first cuts would be amoung these players as the first "bubbles": #01 - Zach Atterbury K #32 - Trey Brown CB #72 - Joe Clermond DE #43 - Josh Gettis S #15 - Ryan Grice-Mullen WR #46 - Leslie Majors CB #79 - Nick Osborn DE #49 - Marcus Stone TE
  21. A little more detailed explanation in legaleze:
  22. I think after last nights game, we can scratch Lloyd of the list of those on the bubble, and there is no way they cut Booker. So if this is true, bye bye Bradley.
  23. I think we will see RBBC - Kevin Jones will see a significant amount of time also. I wouldn't be surprised, if Jones is healthy, a 50/50 split in carries. Might be a good thing, as Rookies seem to wear down in the first year and wind up getting injured as a result.

    Welcome to 4-12

That being said, I'd love to see some continuity with our WR's. It seemed like we were constantly shuffling in Booker/Lloyd/Bradley/Hester and "Stone Hands" Bennett. With the exception of Lloy & Orton on the two minute drive, I didn't feel like any of these guys were in long enough to really show what they can do. I think that 2 minute drive did 2 things, assure Orton the starting QB position, deserved or not is debatable and I am sure will be argued here on the forum, and I think baring a reversal in the next two games, it appears that LLoyd has stepped up into a starters role, as he made some outstanding catches and could be a bargain at the price we paid.

I agree, I suspect, for better or worse, we will find out soon enough, Orton will be named the starter by Tuesday or Wednesday of this week. I also suspect they may then bring in another QB as a #3 option. Then we will be looking at OLmen that may now or in the near future become available.
