In other news, the Commanders signed Payne to a 4 year 90 Million dollar deal.

Loved the video, had to bookmark and subscribe to Swift Sports Network. That guy is awesome. I had done a lot of searches for articles expressing their opinion of the trade. I wanted to make sure my enthusiasm wasn't simply OD'ing on Bears' Kool-Aid. I read one article that tried to downplay the significance of DJ Moore being obtained in the trade. He implied DJ was at best a marginal WR1. After watching this video, I can say with certainty he was full of shit. Must have been a Cheesehead. LOL As much as I wanted JSN (and still wouldn't object to drafting him - you can never have too many weapons in your arsenal) DJ Moore will give Fields a PROVEN WR1 to take the next step and prove to everyone he is an elite QB.
-
Fields needs to get together, NOW, with Claypool and DJ Moore (and anyone else who would like to join them) to begin working on their timing and chemistry for this coming year. It doesn't have to be a heavy workout to start, but they need to get to the point where they can anticipate each other's moves. No need to wait for summer.
-
So Carolina has a rebuild, year one, with a rookie QB, sans C McCaffery & DJ Moore, their top two (and only two) playmakers. That to me sounds like a top 5 pick in 2024. In fact, IF the teams in their division all improve, it could be as high as a number one.
-
I was really hoping for a high 2023 2nd rd pick in addition to a 2024 1st. It will be a long wait from #9 to #61. Just being greedy. LOL

Gads! So we have a lot of writers predicting McG for the Bears who is a good run blocker but bad in pass pro. Or we could have Taylor who is good in pass pro but sucks at run blocking. I give up. Grab O Brown, pay him the big bucks to play LOT, move Braxon to ROT. Pick up a solid ROG & OC. Then trade back with the goal of max picks in top 100 and draft JSN to match up with Justin. The draft is deep in the trenches. I trust Poles to do his job with the extra draft capitol to fill any holes that need to be addressed.
-
So then I read this and cringe. This writer thinks McG is our target in FA. Buzz building around Mike McGlinchey being a top target for Bears in free agency

I was just reading an article on NBC Chicago sports about the Colts trying to pretend they might be able to get their guy for QB by staying at #4. Then there was this quote that I am sure the Colts are concerned about. That puts more pressure on INDY because if they try to stay put at #4 two QBs may be off the board before they draft, not just one. Love it!

This sort of thing has happened before and cost the player a fortune. I can remember years back when OL La'el Collins was projected to be a high first round selection. Just before the draft police questioned him in regards to a murder investigation. He went undrafted. It turned out he wasn't involved with the murder at all, completely innocent. Dallas wound up signing him as an UFA. Cost him millions of dollars when he did nothing wrong.

If Claypool had put up solid #2 WR stats the last few games of the season, after having a chance to familiarize himself to the system, I would have no second thoughts on the trade. There is still a chance that this year he will produce more in line with what we had hoped. Just as we expect Fields to improve his passing efficiency with a better OL (fingers crossed) our WRs should also benefit. Then, of course, Claypool and our WRs will have time in the off season to work with Fields. My hope is that Claypool will give us minimum 60/750/5. If he can add that to go along with a productive #1 WR (FA?/Draft?), Mooney, and Kmet (or upgrade), our offense will be a top 10.

I made a HUGE mistake bringing up the issue of race. My apologies. I am going to lock this thread. If anyone wants to start a new one about the merits of OC's under Andy Reid for HC positions, then please do so. Again, as a moderator who has asked for posters not to bring politics onboard, I really blew it. My sincere apologies.
-
Don't like saying it but he may also be having issues being hired as HC because, gasp, he's Black. Unfortunate, but there are still a lot of owners who are bigots. The league keeps on saying they will clean this up but the efforts they have made are feeble IMO.

If Poles even remotely considered those trade scenarios mentioned in the quoted articles for CAR & TBB he should be fired, along with the new President of the team for allowing him to do so. The idiots who dreamed up those articles should find another profession. I agree, never say never. As you said, 4 1st round selections would have to cause one to pause and take a step back to evaluate the pros and cons. Bottom line is, Fields is a Chicago Bear and I pray he has a HOF career (and I'm still around to watch him be inducted.)
-
If anything, the false rumors of us trading Fields and drafting a QB with our #1 is a mind game intended to force those wanting to trade up to sweeten the deal. We want Houston, Indy, etc... to think we might draft the QB they covet. There is no way in hell we trade Fields this year. He is our starting QB for 2023, and will prove he is our future.
-
Poles needs to be patient. No need to move too soon. Week before the draft? Night before the draft? Let the suitors for the pick ante up.
-
I pray Adam Schefter is spot on for a change. This quote"
-
Agree with everything you said.

I think he will be tagged. Ron is well liked as the HC. They have, from what I hear, a good locker room. I think other players will restructure as needed to keep this guy on their team. I pray I'm wrong. But far too often we think a player will be cut for cap reasons and he winds up being signed.
-
I love talented Seniors, LOL. Far too often we draft players who only have limited experience, leave college early to get the big paycheck, and are selected solely because of "potential" or "measurables." I prefer players who had success against top level opponents. Players who have the experience and maturity players leaving college early quite often lack.

Stinger, loved this preview from Swift Sports. I hope you post the remainder of the series where he goes over FAs available at other positions, especially OL and WR. Thanks for posting this one on the DL FA prospects. A good number of interesting options for the Bears.

I'm with you. I thought maybe it was just an issue with my browser or pc. You're the first to mention having issues. I have had several extended periods when I could not log into the site.

I'm not totally sold on Trevor. Yes, he had a great comeback in the second half, AFTER throwing four interceptions in the first half. The main reason for Jacksonville winning? Did you see the Chargers players celebrating their victory on the sidelines after they went up 27 to 0 with two minutes remaining before half-time? IDIOTS! I knew as soon as I saw them dancing and high fiving, they were in trouble. He does have that 'hair flip' mastered. ? ?

What we will not know for awhile is which of these QB needy teams (and possible trade partners) will opt to go after a FA or trade for a vet. Example: I just read a writer speculating Indy and the Jets as two possible suiters for D Carr. Hopefully Indy has learned their lesson about acquiring retreads.
-
Compared to our previous Team Presidents, this guy seems totally over qualified. ?

Strength of Schedule can be deceiving, however, if you look at next year's opponents, and their 2022 records, the Bears have every reason to believe on SOS alone, they will greatly improve their 3 wins. KCC & LAC are the two best teams we will face. I think MIN was a fluke, should have had 9 or 10 wins, not 13. They really lucked out on more than a few wins. Detroit? They are hard to figure out.
