  1. BearFan2000 is interested and was the first to throw his name in for a team if available. If a 2nd opening is available I would like to be considered. Maybe we can get a 12 team lineup, much better than 10 IMO. In addition, as I mentioned earlier, if there is interest in a "no fee" redraft league maybe we can bring back to life our league we has here in the past. I have a ton of free time, bored to death, so I can easily manage to play two FF Leagues this year. If anyone is interested in a very good office pool, a pick'em pool, I have been in one for quite awhile (I did real lousy last year but still enjoyed the challenge). It has very good payouts and the guy running it is a good chap (and a Bears Fan). Check it out at 6 DAYS TO SUNDAY Last year the payouts were: (A lot of different pools you can enter!) Weekly Pool - First tiebreaker is total wins, second is the Monday night score 1st - $155 2nd - $30 Survivor - Tiebreaker is the most consecutive wins 1st - $735 2nd - $85 Loser Survivor – $460 Margin – $440 Lowman – $310 Team – $540 ($180 per teammate) High 5 – $300 Bracket 32 – $320 Season 1st - $950 2nd - $500 3rd - $300 4th - $200 5th - $100
  2. There was a Q&A on the team website stating Glennon's preseason stats from the past 2 years which were, quite frankly, depressing as hell. That being said, one cannot go by preseason stats much as they can be entirely misleading for many reasons.
  3. Last year was the first year in a long time we did not have a free redraft league here for members to play. I miss the challenge. I would love to see it start up again. I do not know much about the $$$ League. Hopefully, if there are openings, the Commish will give details for those wanting to join. Heck, if there are enough openings, I might even give in and give it a try if a free redraft league is not set up.
  4. I agree, I do not think they knew of this prior to the presser. I also suspect, knowing that "Health" is the key issue with this team after the disastrous 2016 season, that they are doing this as a sort of "preseason red-shirt", keeping him sidelined and making sure he is healthy going into the season. I am guessing he will be in the starting lineup on opening day.
  5. I thought everyone except MT was signed, am I wrong?

    QB Comparison

Outstanding post, great info. I did not realize this, amazing.
  7. Do I believe that Fox did not know about or agree with the MT Pick, NO Do I believe that McCaskey told Pace to draft QB Round 1, or to draft MT, NO Both concepts to me are totally ridiculous and I am surprised anyone would believe them I guess if you dislike the Bears, the Bears Draft, Pace &/or Fox enough you will love to keep the negativity rolling Pace was on record saying his #1 priority was to resolve the long time problem of the Bears at the QB position Agree with his decisions or not I think it is obvious he is attempting to do everything possible to do just that All we can do now is wait to see how it all plays out and pray he was correct in his assessment
  8. I assume many of the draft experts who are critical of the Bears' draft are the same draft gurus who many of us disagreed with and made fun of prior to the draft for their opinions which did not agree with ours? I am not totally comfortable with the draft. Hell. I am 68 years old, been an avid fan forever and I do not think I have ever been totally happy with a draft. They never listen to me, LOL.
  9. I agree and what scares me is when I feel like this about a player going into the draft more often than not that is who the Bears select. I pray it is not so.........
  10. Here is a link to the first mock draft I have seen with the Browns taking QB with their #1 pick. I do not think it will happen, but who knows?
  11. There is a thread on this forum about the rumors of our interest in Trubisky. I have also read several articles about how the Browns are likely to draft Garrett at #1 but that after doing so they are interested in trading up from their #12 spot to grab Trubisky, that he is their top QB on their draft board and they do not want to risk teams like the Jets or Jags from drafting him. This makes me wonder if these rumors of the Bears' interest in Trubisky are being spread by Pace & Co. are to prompt Cleveland to trade their #12 pick plus ??? for the rights to draft Trubisky at #3? Could be interesting!
  12. I would be shocked of Watson wasn't still available when we draft at #3. I have seen mention of the Bears trading up also but I just do not see it. Trade down, yes, trade up, no, IMHO.
  13. He finished third in the NFL in kickoff return average (27.2 yards) in 2016. I have no doubt that is why we are giving him a look. It is an area of need.

    Solomon Thomas

Just turned on NFL Network and one of the guys on the show was projecting Solomon Thomas going #2 to San Francisco. I say this only in that it surprises me how much this guy is gaining speed in the pre-draft process. Now, it seems instead of the majority of the sites predicting the Bears picking DL Jonathan Adams they are predicting Safety Jamal Adams as our selection. I see this as a strong draft for many of our needs so I am still hoping for a trade back, getting some additional picks.
  15. I found this short article interesting on ESPN.com. I am like most of you, a little nervous about the signing but trying to think positive. I think attitude and intangibles can be extremely important to the success of a player. This excerpt from the article mentioned is what I found encouraging:
  16. I remember after the Bears got rid of B Marshall Alshon was upset. I thought he got over it but obviously not. It is obvious he did not want to play in Chicago. The fact that no other team would offer him a big $$$ multi year contract says there are concerns shared by other GMs. I am a bit disappointed but I think there is a lot going on behind the scenes we are unaware of.
  17. AJ has had trouble staying healthy & available on game day. When you are going to pay a player the type of money he will be seeking you want to have reasonable expectations that he will be available to play. After having injury issues for a couple of years the Bears were a bit nervous last year to obligate themselves to a long term big $$$ contract. So they played it smart and tagged him, basically saying to him, prove to us you can stay healthy and earn the big investment in your future. Although he was being reported during the season nursing minor injuries, he remained active. However, in a year that he knew he would have to prove he could remain healthy and reliable he is caught using PEDs. So do you think he was using these PEDs in an attempt to stay active weekly? Why else risk taking them during such an important year for his future contract status? I cannot blame the Bears if they decide to move on without AJ.
  18. In the past Fox/Pace did not think we needed an upgrade at LOT I certainly do, it is obvious you feel we do, I think the majority of the posters on the forum agree.... It will be interesting to see if they change their tune with the excess cap money and good FA OTs available I personally would like to see ROT upgraded as well.
  19. This years draft is suppose to be strong in the DB area, both CB & S. However, the Bears are so weak in this area I can see us addressing it in FA & the draft. On ESPN they are saying the Bears should go after Logan Ryan, CB from NEP. Unfortunately, it is one of their ESPN Insider articles, I refuse to pay, LOL. I did find an INTERESTING ARTICLE ON LOGAN RYAN when trying to find out more info. I think it might be written by a fan but I think extremely well written and researched, worth a read, for free ;-) According to the article other notable 2017 free agent cornerbacks include Trumaine Johnson, Stephon Gilmore, A.J. Bouye, Morris Claiborne, and Prince Amukamara.
  20. I do not see the "top 3" being there in round two........ I do not want to "reach" for a player...... Unless we are able to trade back in round 1 or one of the top three slides to round 2 that leaves: Mahomes or Webb I like Webb over Mahomes. I cannot say I am excited about that but from the options given on the poll that would be my vote.

    49ers DC

Is Arik Armstead enough of a difference maker to go after? I watched very little 49er football last year but looking at his stats on NFL.com I am seeing 23 tackles and 4.5 sacks TOTAL for 2 years? Then a shoulder injury putting him on IR on Nov 8, 2016? As a cheap FA pickup for a look see in preseason, OK, but I certainly would not give up any draft picks for him.
  22. I was surprised this morning to find Rotoworld NFL Mock Draft 2.0 posted with "out of the box" results. What surprised me is Solomon Thomas was projected #2, to SF, with the Bears taking Trubisky at #3 and J. Allen slipping to number 4. Again, I did not follow college football last year (way too busy) to give a good opinion on this. (I am now officially retired and anxious to start following NCAAF once again this year) It just seems to me I am beginning to see a trend of Solomon Thomas climbing the boards whereas J Allen seems to be dropping, possibly do to concerns about the shoulder surgeries and if this would indicate a future durability issue in the NFL.
  23. Palmer announced he is returning for 2017 season.
  24. I agree with you guys, I can not see drafting Solomon Thomas at #3, there are too many other possibilities I like over him. I posted it not because I agree with the mock draft, but enjoy reading one that offers a different view, right or wrong. I am tired of viewing mock drafts which 7 out of 10 have Jonathan Allen as our selection at #3, especially when I am not sure I am in favor of J Allen at #3 - he showed me nothing to get hyped about in the playoffs and now with the history of injuries in question, I would not take him at #3.
