  1. You lost me, but at my age, I get lost a lot, LOL I will agree on this point however... that flaming each other on the forum is costing us may good posters I came to this board many many years ago after leaving another forum that was filled with posters attacking anyone who voiced an opinion that they did not agree with. I got tired of being called every name in the book and degraded whenever I voiced an unpopular opinion. When I first joined this forum there was no such activity going on here. However, I have seen a lot of this going on here recently and it has escalated over the past year. We have had a lot of very good posters leave this forum for the same reason I left the previous forum. There are far too many insults slung around by certain posters who do not like being disagreed with. Unfortunately, if I try to step in and eliminate this I know from past experience that I will then piss off many posters for any measure I can take to try and stop the verbal abuse of posters. Believe me, I know from previous experiences. Catch 22
  2. So because he states adamantly he does not want us to consider bringing in Johnson he is a "tool" Then I guess that makes me a "tool" also, bowlingtool and pixtool. I do not want him as an option either. Or maybe you should consider that everyone who states an opinion that you do not agree with are not necessarily a "tool" or idiot or ??? Maybe the diversity of opinion in a forum is what most of those visiting a forum are actually looking for?
  3. I agree with you, fluff, doesn't make sense to me. I know one thing for sure, this coaching staff is not going to be like the last and keep on trusting players saying they are going to improve, they have faith in them. That is why our OL was so bad the past 4-5 years. I firmly believe they will start the best 5 players and I honestly do not believe Webb is one of them. I have said in the past and I repeat, I remember his play at ROT in the past before being switched to LOT. He sucked at ROT. He sucked at LOT. He is a good experienced back-up option for both positions in case of injury but that is it. I suspect ROT will be between 3 players, Jonathan Scott (who I thought did exceptionally well before being injured last year), Jordan Mills (very interesting draft pick) and Kyle Long (although it is stated he will start off as an option at OG I would not be surprised to see him land at ROT if he has an excellent camp).
  4. I have to agree, I cannot see writing this guy off until he has a chance to compete for a roster position in training camp. Yes, maybe he should be at OTAs but it is not unheard of for players to miss these for many reasons. But I think they will wait and see how he performs in preseason and then make the call. If he is cut I would be surprised if that came about until final cuts.
  5. I hope we never lose Cliff Stein. Bears Sign Kyle Long Everyone is accounted for!
  6. So the difference between two of the best QB as far as getting the ball out quickly and Cutler, one of the worst at getting the ball out fast is appx. 3 tenths of a second? 0.3 Seconds? a hiccup?
  7. Is it possible that behind the scenes he has been asked not to attend because a trade may be in the works? I know when a trade is in the works the team will often ask the player to sit out to make sure no injury occurs that would kill the trade. I am just throwing it out there as it is the only thing that makes sense to me as to why he would be out unless there are some personal issues he needs to resolve that are not being discussed.
  8. I should hope not. I think it is great he is helping the cause. I am the proud father of 5 special needs children that I adopted and three of those kids participated in the Special Olympics. It was a huge event for them that they enjoyed and to this day cherish the memories of same. My hat is off to anyone who cares enough to lend a hand to the Special Olympics.

    Timothy Tebow

You know it is slow on the board when we spend this much time talking about Tebow,

    Timothy Tebow

I, like many here, have absolutely no objection to a Christian athlete showing a gesture on the field after a big play. The vast majority of those who do so will point to the heavens, cross themselves, or some small gesture acknowledging their faith in God. They do so without making a big deal of it and in a way that many do not even notice anymore as it is so common. Tebow however, like most everything he does, has to put on a show doing "The Tebow" pose. The fact that this gesture of his has actually been given a tag by the press and fans and has actually been commercialized says a bunch. Tebow intentionally tries to ignite the "circus" around him. He incites the fans and press by doing things like his jogging in the middle of the winter when it was cold and snowing shirtless. The press loved it, and he loved it, because it brought him attention. He could possibly be an upgrade as a backup over what we have now, which would not be saying much. However, I think we could find a better backup off the street. Maybe a backup who would be more interested in improving as a QB under our new HC than how much publicity he can get for himself.
  11. Teams can always strike gold in later rounds but realistically players selected round 3 and later are hard pressed to give you immediate production and on good teams many of these players wind up on practice squads or are relegated as deep backups and special teams players. I am not concerned that a team has a load of late picks. Minnesota did well with 3 1st rounders, giving up a boat load of picks for the 3rd pick of a WR. Time will tell if it is enough to make them "elite". I still do not think they are anywhere as good as their record last year would seem to indicate.
  12. A lot of posters on the forum are still saying "we should have traded back to pick up K Long, we chose him too high, bad value..." From what I have heard and read, his father, Howie, who would not reveal the teams he had contact with, said his son would have been gone before the 2nd round started, indicating several teams were interested in selecting his son between picks 20 & 29 in the first round. I am also reading many had him rated the #3 OG prospect. Yes, he has limited experience as a starter. However, there was a defensive end, cannot remember his name, who was drafted much higher in the first round, who had only played football for 1 year and only started 3 games. I like the pick.
  13. With so many teams passing on S Floyd, something is up we do not know about.
  14. Pixote

    ya know what,

The ONLY thing I knew for sure, and in previous years I always posted this prediction, was that TerraTor would be pissed with whoever we selected.
  15. I am sure they would have traded back if they could have. The way OL was being hit hard I am sure they felt they needed to take a good prospect now or when they selected in the 2nd there would not be anything left. We needed the upgrade.

    30 for 30

Totally agree, they should be thankful they got selected and shut the hell up. If you do not want to play for the team that drafts you, fine, they should be made to flip burgers for a year and re-enter the draft the next year. Screw them, that is exactly what they are doing to the team that drafts them. And let me add, if the team that drafts them winds up with the player refusing to play for them, award them an equal pick in the following years draft in compensation.
  17. It is normal to bring in extra kickers & QBs to share the reps in training camp to avoid overworking our guys who will be needed on the roster during the season. No need to wear them out with excessive reps. And yes, Robbie is still recovering from the calf injury he had at the end of the season (or he wants more time off and does not care for training camp, LOL).
  18. Percy Harvin at #2 is a joke, he is not even in the top 10. That article lost all credibility IMO.

    Playmakers

I went to NFL.com, saw the videos, read the articles, about Te'o after this comment. Every thing I saw and read seemed very positive so I was wondering why, after viewing & reading this on NFL.com, you say you now more than ever do not want him on the Bears? I am not saying I want him at #20 in the first. It would not upset me if we did draft him there but I think there are other players at #20 I would prefer, even Eifert. Just curious why the info on NFL.com increased your negative opinion.
  20. Gosh, I am flattered and appreciate the kind words. We have all come a long way together. There are many other admins who we need to tip our hats to as well as many great fans who post on the site. Lets hope we all have a great time this year with a trip to the Super Bowl!
  21. Personally, unless we pick up another FA OLman or draft a starting prospect for the OL, I wouldn't mind seeing: Bushrod (LT), Slausen (LG), Garza ©, Carimi (RG), Scott (RT) I thought Carimi looked decent at RG without much prep time or experience at the position and Scott I think is under valued by many fans.
  22. That would be my guess as well. Sign them to a 1 year. If they look good during the year try and extend at a low price tag. If they want too much, screw them and wait for free agency next year. If they sign cheap, we get a steal.
  23. Here is an article from the Tribune about the signing.
  24. I agree. He was a former 1st round pick that has shown the ability to be a difference maker. He has screwed up his career with foolish mistakes. If he can get his act together we have a good signing. If he screws up we lose nothing, no guaranteed money, very low salary. I think it is a solid gamble on what might be a good stop gap. We still need to draft some youth to develop for the defense.
  25. Changed the thread title as you suggested
