  1. I agree with what's been written here, and I want to add that Kwitkowski plays with a LOT of heart, but he just isn't fast enough. The reason that he "showed up" against Indy is that they didn't game plan against him. Run a few drag routes, and he is easily exposed. I dunno if any of the other backup ILBs are really any better at this point, but I do like what I've seen from Woods. Not saying Kwit doesn't make the roster, but he is still a liability. I think Bullard makes the team and Whyte goes on the PS.
  2. well according to the Bears site, Burton and Patterson are both 6' 2" and 238 pounds. Other sites say Patterson has been 228 and he was 220 at the combine, but who knows? Also, if Patterson signals a pass play, then Patterson is blocking a DB not a LB, so I dont see the problem!

It's all good. Nagy and Pace have a good plan, and we will be fine. But yes, watching this is a waste of time except as fodder for bottom of the roster discussions in here
  4. I agree, and if the defense goes into nickel, then Patterson could be blocking a DB, not a LB. If he's tough enough to play RB, he can play TE too. I think we will have some crazy personnel groups with all the chess pieces we have
  5. yeah youre right of course, I dont mean as a full time TE, I mean, can he play TE as a gadget. NE used him at RB last year, so I dunno, I think a lot is possible. I surely think he could be a blocking TE if he is blocking a DB becasue they came out in nickel or dime because THEY thought he would be a WR.
  6. Bunting is up and down. I have this crazy idea that Patterson will play some tight end. Burton isn't the world's most dominant run blocker - Patterson is probably better and scarier than Burton a a receiving TE. I truly think, and this is my own pet theory, that Patterson will play some TE, and defenses will melt. When you sub in Robinson, Miller, Patterson, Montgomery and Cohen, you gotta wonder whether youre about to see power I, 5 wide or anything in between. So no matter who you put in youre gonna be wrong. Go nickel or dime, and Patterson plays TE, blocking a DB instead of a LB, Montgomery is the fullback and Cohen carries. Keep your LBs in and Cohen and Patterson become slot receivers with Montgomery as the single back. It's ridiculously scary. Or imagine Robinson, Miller, Patterson, Burton and Montgomery. Is that 4 wide? Or heavy power running with patterson or montgmoery blocking for the other? Imagine the screen options youd have. Patterson is gonna give them insane flexibility. And the talent they have is crazy, If Trubisky plays well, we will be unstoppable.
  7. Sounds like we will keep 6 WRs on the roster,. which makes sense. I have this weird feeling, I wonder if Patterson can play TE.
  8. that's Long's replacement when Long ages out.
  9. and since he is a legit receiver too, and cohen is too, and patterson is a wr or rb or te, basically when more than one of them is on the field, you dont know if youre looking at 5 wide or power I running, so whatever you substitute, youre wrong. awesome.
  10. Montgomery with the nasty cuts. Howard didnt have that speed to the hole, and that kind of change of direction. Montgomery is going to be a stud for us. Between Montgomery, Cohen and Patterson, those defensive linemen are going to be sucking wind chasing those guys around.
  11. setting down his plant foot is allowing him to change direction quickly, thats why hes rotating inside. What you dont see because the lens is forshortening the shot is that he isnt just moving left and right, but after the change of direction he is coming back to the ball and thats the separation he is gaining from the defender. This isn't an out, it's a comeback.
  12. that assumes we keep 7 WRs, which is unlikely. I wouldnt be shocked to see us trade a WR as injuries happen in preseason. I mean unless we have injuries ourselves at WR.
  13. I had us taking Piniero with our 7th rounder in 2018 draft. Instead we took... Javon Wims! Now we have both. Go Bears.
  14. maybe not in terms of making the roster, but in terms of touches, the fight to watch is Gabriel vs Patterson. Honestly, Gabriel's roles in the offense are under threat from all sides. From Miller playing a taller #2, to Patterson exceling at the Jet Sweep, even from Ridley in a way. Gabriel will have to hang tough in camp and really raise his game. That WR room is very crowded with talent!
  15. For sure. There is every reason to think he will be faster and better in his reads in this second year in the offense.
  16. It was a good analysis, and you can bet that Nagy and Helfrich are aware of all of it, and that Trubisky is motivated to improve. I wouldnt bet against that. I think the arrow points up. But yes, Trubisky was totally inconsistent last year, but that means he had flashes of greatness too. He was just uneven. And thats a lot better than consistently average.
  17. Plus we had a really sweet job opening a lot of people would have wanted, and this is who Pace chose. Thats good enough for me.
  18. Happy Birthday Lemon! Youre 60, Bears are 100. Awesome.
  19. for sure. Funny he says we don't have a kicker. We kicked HIM out pretty good... Seriously, I was a Fox defender. I said we were VERY lucky to get him to take the locker room from where it was to a place where a real coach would take over. (Thank you Pace!!) But no more. He's dead to me. What an idiot. ANd Im not gonna spend time hating him, he's already in the past. LETS GO BEARS.
  20. LOL Oh Foxy. That's really ugly. See, the Bears are the kind of team that honors their past players and staff, but not when they act like a Parkey about stuff.
  21. hahaha yes for sure. I still love it though.
  22. yeah! some nerdy kick coverage talk! It must be July before camp
