  1. Looks like they will need a new coach, Curtis Johnson WR coach just left. He was one of the bright spots I thought, wish him the best.
  2. If we know the Superbowl is still a year at least away, why not use this season to get a QB and his tools to get accustomed to the nfl now. Spend in FA to solidify the D while staying under 28 for age. When the 2018 draft comes the needs should be small so many BPAs to improve a playoff ready team with quality depth. Resign: Alshon Jeffery WR, Zach Miller TE, Brian Hoyer QB, Cornelius Washington DL, Sam Acho OLB, Miller is a team leader, he deserves another shot Cut: Jay Cutler QB, Mitch Unrein DL, Lamar Houston OLB FA signings: Kawann Short DL, Chandler Jones OLB, AJ Bouye CB, Jordan Poyer FS Draft: Trade- Carolina wants Jon Allen DL to replace Short. Bears get Pick#8, RD2-40, and a future 2nd. 1-Deshon Kizer QB 2-Cam Robinson OT (Matt Miller had him ranked 34, if not there Ryan Ramczk) 2-Cordrea Tankersly CB (Adoree Jackson also available but going more physical) 3-Bucky Hodges TE 4-Jarron Jones DL 4-Isiah Ford WR 5-Jordan Willis OLB 7-Ben Boulware ILB 2018 Draft-loaded to bring in BPAs 1 OLT 2 2 3 4 5 6 7
  3. If it is a 2nd RD pick, it is less burdening. I would rather draft a kid and get 4-5 years in a rookie deal where as Garappalo will possible want Cutler money soon. If the Bears see something in Mahomes and can take him RD2, they should consider moving up to the bottom of the first to give them an extra year.
  4. We would lose in the Cleveland trade. Cleveland 1200+ 580+265=2045, Chicago 2200, that is a 4th and 5th rounder difference we should receive. If we are trading down I would prefer to gain a future 1st and a 3rd this year. Other than that, it would be a good direction.
  5. Oh man, look what you started....and to think if they took Brandon Albert instead, who myself and many insisted, who started LT many years for KC. That was the first downfall, then Carimi but hard to say because of his injury. Then, instead of McNugget, the could have taken G David Decastro. Couple of whiffs.
  6. I am all aboard the Berry and Watson train since we have a high draft pick invested in Bullard and he should be decent. Myles Garrett as OLB, I would consider if it was an option.
  7. I see that from time to time. Wish I would have saved a post I wrote 6-8 years ago and the next day my whole thought was in the tribune or suntimes but without credit. As for prospects, I think we have some good eyes in here and many draftsites and newspapers search these forums out. Here is to the Bearstalk ghost writers
  8. Stop pointing guys out! All of our round 4-5 gems get elevated after this board promotes them
  9. Cleveland at least has a young QB with potential in Kessler. The Bears are almost empty handed with only Cutler and Shaw with a contract. If Jay showed anything last season to grab onto, I would be ok holding onto him as this is his cheapest year under contract. I think it is time to move on though which may put us with Hoyer or Barkley to start, then a rookie and Shaw. Pace has a hard job this offseason. He will either over draft in round one or potentially risk losing out in round 2. He is criticized hard already for not drafting QB the past two drafts (missing on Prescott really hurts)
  10. I like both of the combinations. Kizer on the other hand didn't have established WRs or a TE like these guys had to work with. In a way, it makes me wonder how much better Kizer would have been if Fuller stuck around one more year or even Poisse the RB.
  11. Deshaun Watson QB RD1 Cordea Tankersly CB RD2 Jordan Leggett TE RD3 Artavis Scott WR RD5 Ben Bouware LB RD7 Clemson works too.
  12. I think you found a good one here. This is a deep CB draft, would be great to get a steal in round 4. Rasul Douglas CB WV 6-2 190 8 INT and 8 PD (break ups) one of the best corners this year allowing a QB rating of 33.3 when looking his way. The biggest key with this kid is West Virginia only rushes 3 or less players the majority of the time. Which means they have to actually cover the WR's longer.
  13. . I do like Falk, but he returned to school. Could I accept another QB in a later round, sure. To answer your question today, my first choice is Watson QB. I feel he would make a bigger difference towards winning over any of the players. After him, it is a toss up between Allen, Adams, and Booker.
  14. We are in position to get a great player. In my head I have a balance scale and as I ponder taking one player over another, I set each one on opposite ends of this scale to weigh. This scale measures the difference player A makes over player B. To me at this moment, still early, I have QB out weighing the rest and Deshaun Watson as my choice. I see the Bears as Superbowl contenders with a great QB vs a top 10 team with a great defender (Garrett, Allen, Adams, Hooker). 2-3 years down the road, we will be grasping for that QB like we did with Jay. Round 2, I want the best defensive back CB or S and there should be excellent choices.
  15. Even Greg Robinson has fallen down the charts. Too bad this is a deep year for Centers, every fanspeak mock I do has Pat Elflein C available with my 4th RD choice and he is a top 50 prospect.
  16. This draft may not be deep with day one starters at OT, but there is decent depth that can be groomed. We have our starters, Massie seemed to improve later in the season and Leno isn't the worst. Keep going forward with this unit and draft 1 or 2 hungry prospects that can fill in when needed and learn for a year.
  17. I don't know much about the Uconn S or the Northern WR, but the rest look good.
  18. It is two different processes. QBs that typically are in shotgun have less to process. They get the snap and are scanning the field, rarely moving, usually keying in on one defender to dictate where to throw or keep the ball and run. QBs under center take the snap, drop back 3-5-7 steps, while keying in on the coverage and keeping proper footwork. Shotgun just took steps out or simplified the process and it takes time to learn. Jay would make a good shot gun QB because his footwork is terrible and he sees only half the field anyways and rarely progresses through his options. He's mentally too slow imo or has been beaten so much he don't rely on taking all the steps.
  19. I just stuck my nose in some Chief forums. Looks like they believe Berry and Poe will be re-signed if they cut Foles and J Charles for their cap savings. Their fans are beat up and have fire Reid threads and cut Alex Smith. In their draft discussions, they want Watson and would trade the future to get him. They have had many successful drafts and still cannot get to the Superbowl and think the QB is the only thing holding them back.
  20. If they don't trade for JG or take one at #3, be prepared for a trade. Pick 5 ahead of NYJ, #9 ahead of Buf, or #11 ahead of Cle and Arz are all slots to positon before a QB needy team, SF also. Washington may be in the same boat if Cousins escapes. The demand is greater than the supply, so the price goes up and teams will end up over paying. Fingers crossed one of these teams makes us an offer on Jay.
  21. I am holding out for Eric Berry. I don't think they draft two, they have an abundance of projects already so they may grab one. I still think they address most needs in FA since they have enough cap space to fill about 1/3 of the roster.
  22. I would like to see two Offensive Tackles taken between Rounds 3-5 to push the current starters and eventually replace.
  23. I just played out a fanspeak mock along with the cap management simulation. Cut: Jay Cutler QB, Lamar Houston, Eddie Royal Re-signed: Alshon Jeffery, Brian Hoyer, Cornelius Washington, Sam Acho FA Acquisitions: Eric Berry FS, Calais Campbell DE, Melvin Engram OLB, Dee Millner CB, Markus Wheaton WR the FA acquisitions were who fanspeak had available. Short DL, Gilmore CB, Bouye CB were re-signed or tagged by there team. Pryor WR would cost as much as Jeffery so I passed. Draft: using Matt Millers updated board 1. Deshaun Watson QB (Garrett 1st, Fournette 2nd, Jamal Adams went 4th, Jon Allen 5th) 2. Marlon Humprey CB (Teeze Tabor, Desmond King, Adoree Jackson also available) 3. Evan Engram TE ( Jake Butt available also) 4. Chad Wheeler OT 4. Zay Jones WR 5. David Sharpe OT 7. David Jones S After all the FA signings, the Bears still had 13 million leftover in cap along with money set aside for the rookie pool. They would be able to sign another FA or two.
  24. I agree, just saying if they think about Shaub. JG is an option, not appealing at NE's possible price of a #1 & #4 or if they are even willing to part.
