I think the Bears do offer him top dollar with the cap space they have. If they dont reach a deal, the Bears have to put the franchise tag on him. Alshon has added pressure to get a long term deal with that company he signed on with (can't recall the name). I think that is why he sat many games to protect this investment.

A lot of Chicago Bear stories hitting the press today and I haven't seen any discussion here on it. * Bears are aggressively working on Alshon Jeffery's contract Will they reach an agreement before March 1, or apply the tag? * Pace and Fox foreshadowing the departure of Martellus Bennett? The didn't say much about looking forward to him, but said he is under contract * Zach Miller TE in the works for an extension? Pace said they want Miller back, will they meet halfway on a friendly deal for both? *Draft flexibility in Paces eyes With 9 picks in hand, Pace said they have flexibility to move up or down the draft this year. Wonder what he's thinking. Just a few I've seen, feel free to add or discuss.

Former Team Dr's Insights on Medical Opinion / Injuries

The Bulls D Rose. -
Seems like a scenerio all to familiar as a Bears fan. One pick too late to get the guy we covet. If that happens, hopefully we can trade down. Otherwise we may have angry fans because we thought the GM reached for his guy. As for CB, word is Will Jackson is highly thought of by the Bears and others. What would the reaction be if they took him?

Former Team Dr's Insights on Medical Opinion / Injuries

Pace's pre-combine interview, he mentioned how medical exams and interviews are the most important things the get from the combine. He wants a clean slate of health, which may eliminate Smith and Jack. -
I have been throwing Chris Jones name for a while now. I was hoping we can get him in the 3rd or 4th, he is one of the few 5T defensive linemen that I think can do well.
-
I don't think it is out of the possibility if all the other positions of need dry up and he sees a future star.
-
Ezekiel Elliott RB OSU ........................................wait for it 5,4,3,2,1 Other possibilities: Vernon Hargreaves CB, Noah Spence OLB, Jarran Reed DT, Darron Lee OLB, Wentz/Goff/ QB. And just so you know Elliot was a to get you worked up.
-
I know you do not like RB in the draft, but they will be finding another back to challenge Carey for #2 either through the draft or FA. Perry is only on this team if the keep 4 RB's.
-
Right, and that is mainly all Benjamin is besides kr/pr. I think our WR group is ok if Jeffery, White, and Royal are healthy. The bad part is wr's don't stay healthy lately. How deep do you go stock piling? This draft, I'd prefer to skip WR and get a backup rb, oline, and lots of D.
-
I really hope he can stay healthy. Hd was making noise in TC. He may be a able to take the Jenkins role.
-
It was an automated mock draft, can't knock it unless you try it and share. You always try and take the value presented by the rules also, you did well.
-
I would target Osemele and Trevathan first. Fills two biggest needs. Next target would be Jackson or Howard at DL. Re-sign Porter at CB also. Pray the draft falls our way. Stanley, Jack, or Buckner in the first or a trade down and take Smith.
-
I never said they were old, just veterans. I agree they need to mix rookies, especially at the OLB position. With McPhee and Houston signed long term, Young with this season left, they should bring in a later round rookie to groom. If they decide to find a 4th OLB in FA, then they would have too much $ tied up IMO.
-
I am not on board with bringing Long in. We have 3 vets at OLB, time to bring in the future. He is too small to be a down DL in a 3-4 also. Cook, I think he is talented. Put him on a NE/GB offense and I think he can put up numbers. With him now in the TE FA pool, the TE price should go down just a little. Laurinitis, he is another guy with talent. If we miss out on Trevathan, then schedule him in as #2 or 3 guy to call.

A draft that has Stanley, Smith, and Kearse is like a beautiful woman walking by(no harm intended to females). First see Stanley, the chest, Smith the face, and Kearse the backside as she walks away. Never even noticed the rest. I do like Tretola and Hogan picks too. The rest would be ok. I just did a fanspeak using walters board and started stanley/smith too. I went Chris JonesDT 3rd.

If Floyd is viewed as Von Miller or Aldon Smith, bring him on. I think OLB is a 6th rd pick with who we have under contract but would not be opposed if the right talent falls.
-
It didn't go exactly as I would like, but kills time. Try fanspeak some time, automated mocks put you on the spot.

Today I used draftgeeks....they are a little behind if they are really draft geeks. Howard has been going second, Burns 3rd-4th, Rankins 1st-2nd. But I have been taking Smith on most attempts. I see Kiper is slotting him there also now.
-
Did a fanspeak mock today. I have been targeting Xavien Howard/James Bradberry CB with my RD2-3 picks, they are versatile big CB's that can play press. 1-Jaylon Smith LB 2-Taylor Decker OT 3-Sheldon Rankins DT 4-Miles Killebrew SS 5-Xavien Howard CB 6-Anthony Zettel DT 6-Tyler Ervin RB 6-Tyler Higbee TE 7-Artie Burns CB

Bears interested in Broncos Safety David Burton
ASHKUM BEAR replied to bradjock's topic in Bearstalk
I believe they will release Talib and ask Ware to restructure to keep the young core intact. If Ware does not help out, he may be released also. -
I keep looking hard at Jaylon Smith and hope they can get an offer from a team around 15, gain an extra 3rd, and select him. I think in the long run, he will be a bigger difference maker.
-
Sorry brad, definately a sarcastic post since Jay did not like his brother Josh McDaniels.
-
As the offensive quality control coach, he will be watching film to prepare the offense two weeks in advance, possibly run the scout team, and working mainly with the Offensive coordinator installing the game week offense. He will have more hands on with Fales. Maybe he has learned a thing or two from Josh on "spygate" and preparing the team to be a step ahead of the opponent.
