  1. Subtract 7-8 million for rookie pool. That leaves 18 and I imagine we sign DL, S, Shea, and Z Miller (8+5+2+3). That could go fast, then say we free up some on AJ and trading Bennett.
  2. Philadelphia Eagles ‏@Eagles 9m9 minutes ago #Eagles acquire 8th overall pick from Miami in exchange for LB Kiko Alonso, CB Byron Maxwell, & 13th overall pick. Maybe another QB selection?
  3. The higher the number the better, maybe get a compensation pick out of it?
  4. The Jets: Chris Emma ‏@CEmma670 2m2 minutes ago Matt Forte to sign with the Jets, per @AdamSchefter. Bear fans rejoice!
  5. I think Deon Jones or Scoobey Wright would be the ILB in a 3-4 defense. The websites we all use make it difficult sorting through prospects.
  6. Marshall would be nice, but would cost too much. His contract alone would be 8 million we'll figure. Then figure the value of the draft pick if they take a DT who can become the next Malik Jackson, 10-15 value. The Bears are better off re-signing Shea and drafting a prospect. They are not in a Superbowl or bust mode this year, so build economically through FA and smart through the draft.
  7. I am starting to like Josh Forrest as the bigger ILB, and he is from Kentucky too. He is no slouch in pass coverage either. His combine 40 time needs to be taken with a grain of salt. He was one of the few players that had flu symptoms and should not have run. 6-3 249 33-1/2" arms. 4.78 and 4.85 40 times. I am throwing him out there as a, rd 4, prospect that could possibly bring similiar aspects as Ragland.
  8. Just seen the Bears are favorites to sign Trevathan. He is my main piece.
  9. I seen the Jimmy Graham for Marty Bennett floating around social media. I think Ladarious Green is our next TE FA target after Allen. The Bears need all the blocking help they can get
  10. Good work. I think Prescott goes round 2 or 3 and the Bears may take him at 3 if he is there. Been snagging Jackson round two in my fanspeak mocks, the guy has speed. Hope he can play press well. Ragland makes the most sense and would look nice next to speedster Danny Trevathan if we can sign him.
  11. With that combination, I don't see were WR is a need at all. TE and RB, I can see bringing in. WR is the only position on offense we really do not need to address, at least until we find OT, OG, TE, QB, RB.
  12. Chris Emma, CBS/Score has said today the Bears will be aggressive at finding a QB after the first two rounds. So I will scrap the Wentz thought, but if he does fall a.) Never know, they may take him b.) Perfect opportunity to get more picks.
  13. Did two fanspeak mocks taking McCaskey's word of long haul. If the top QB falls, the Bears will have to consider it. Wanted to have an idea how the rest of the draft would play out. Matt Miller: notable twitter scout 1-Carson Wentz QB 2-William Jackson CB 3-Chris Jones DT 4-Miles Killebrew SS 5-Scoobey Wright LB 6-Vadal Alexander G 6-Dadi Nicholas OLB 6-Jake McGee TE 7-Tyler Johnstone OT CBS 1-Carson Wentz QB 2-Jarron Reed DT 3-Su'a Cravens LB 4-Jayron Kearse SS 5-James Bradberry CB 6-Willie Beavers OT 6-Anthony Zettel DT 6-Brandon Shell G 7-Josh Forrest LB
  14. I understand not wanting to keep a malcontent, but I think it opens a door for others wanting something different from what they signed on for. Hope they get real value from a trade and not a 6th. New England likes TEs, I bet they are keeping an eye on this.
  15. I think drafting a late round prospect would be best this year. Dadi Nicholas or Travis Feeney are two speed guys that can be developed while Houston, Young, and McPhee take on the majority of the role. Next draft, Young comes off the books and investing higher is more feasible.
  16. Lemming is a great twitter follow. I like his plan, even though I would prefer to use that 3rd elsewhere. That would be the "bogey" pick; could be a huge hit. Jaylon Smith would probably go earlier, some team will take that risk before.
  17. Any player should be in play if we truly think BPA, including QB. I am more of a needs guy myself. If I get an extra $500, I don't buy the newest best TV, because my 15 year old tube TV still works and I can only watch one...lol. I also don't like to over spend, so if there is not a need at #11, they really need to find someone looking for TV's to trade with.
  18. As SCS said if Jack, Buckner, or Ramsey...(and Stanley) are there, you do not trade. Otherwise 15-22 would be a sweet spot. 1-22-Will Jackson CB 2a-Vernon Butler DT 2b-Su'a Cravens LB 3-Jayron Kearse SS 3-Jaylon Smith LB(4,5,6,6 trade up) 4-Chris Westerman G 5-Tyler Erving RB 6-Tyler Johnstone OT 7-Aguayo K
  19. I mentioned earlier how the Bears liked this kid as well as other teams. His combine results show why they did and he has now put himself into first round considerations. I personally do not want CB in rd1, since I think DL/LB are bigger needs, but if we can trade down his name becomes relevant.
  20. If the draft fell with your scenerio, that would be nice. Nkimdiche and Smith were both top 5 prospects early in the college season.
  21. It would be tough to do on a forum for sure. It would be a basic request for each member that wants to participate to submit only one list with 20 players in order you feel you would rank them as a GM, only doing Round 1. We can leave it open a week or two, each member can edit their list until we decide to close it. It may be a waste of time, might be interesting. The top 5 seems locked down, but the slots 10-20 seems to have some variations on mocks. We can take our entries and add points to each slot and total up an average each prospect gets.
  22. With the combine over, would anyone be interested in doing something similar to this again? I was thinking more as a way to create a "big board" or "ranking" for 2-3 rounds. We could get creative and put grades/points on players also. The mock draft portion, we can do again after the heat of Free Agency cools down.
  23. The Bears will still have plenty of cap and I would rather use it this year myself to pay down AJ in the long haul. They have until July to finish his deal, up to March 9th on others. I dont think they have many other players available to negotiate with other than Shea though. They cannot talk to/extend their one year contracts (Miller, Unrein, Jenkins, Porter), until they have the chance to hit free agency.
  24. "ILB Trevathan $8mil too many questions around ILB and the club says they like SMC but, as far as I know, they haven't offered a contract. Money talks and the Bears aren't talking to Shea. I don't think they want to enter the draft with two question marks at ILB. I think they want SMC back but at a price below starter money, well below starter money because they want him to be the 3rd option to compete as a starter with a rookie. " Now that AJ has the tag applied, they will put him off and start on the next tier of players they want to retain. Just because we do not hear about contract talk doesn't mean they are not interested. I don't think it will take long to get a few done now. Shea may have had an offer from the Bears and wants to see what the market offers when it opens. I have heard the Jets were interested, we will see.
  25. I expected that to happen. He would have been a great talent addition, but I think Pace targets more mid-range players.
