If they want a player with the higher floor, Ragland. Player with a higher ceiling, Jack. With Jack, I would stress adding a big powerhouse at the DE. Having another D lineman that will draw doubles would help free him up to a bigger playmaker.
-
I agree they both played well once they got there legs back. I think OLB is in good shape going into next season, but using a late round pick on speed project would be wise.
-
Maybe it was the videos I watched. What I seen from Jack was alot of what I see in Shea McClellin. In the plays, but arm tackles. Raglands videos, he is body tackling and in the right place. Like I said, it could be because Jack played more OLB and the highlights were catching the back on the edge. Ragland played inside and was stepping into the inside gaps hitting the back head on. Ragland looks more the part to me. Not saying I do not like Jack, I see Ragland more of an NFL ILB.
-
I finally took a little time to watch youtube highlights on Myles Jack and Reggie Ragland. I am sold on Ragland. The difference that convinced me is Ragland was meeting the ball carrier head on more times and Jack was chasing them from behind. Part of that had to do with Jack playing OLB, but the difference in quality is noticed. Myles Jack is a raw talent with un-teachable athletic skills, so he has things going for him also. If the Bears want to add a LB with incredible speed and coverage ability, Jack has that, but lacks instincts. Ragland has the instincts, knows angles that make up for the speed difference, and can still drop into coverage.
-
That is true. Gurleys happened in mid Nov and he missed two games. I would think Smith will miss 4-5, so still not bad. Gurley was also a very raw talent. Smith is worthy, but I don't think he would be considered a once in every 10 or so year player. That is where I see Smith dropping down to, 25ish and as you said a team that can wait 5 games. He will probably end up in GB, NE, or Den. Wright is ok in pass coverage, his speed is his limitation. He is an exceptional pass rusher though. It would depend on what they do round 1, so I would not be objected to taking him rd 2 if he is there. Fangio adapts his D to his personal, so I would think he can adapt with Wright. I do like my option 2 better. Jack who would be a flying firecracker or Ragland who would be a brickhouse and then take a 5T round 2.

I think the key to all of this is having the right upper management, great coaches, and stability. Having a QB is up there too. Once the above is all in place, the right players will fall in place. Picking higher has its benefits, the stats do not lie. If the above mentioned is not in place, you will see busts. The Bears I believe are on the right path. Having another high pick should help close the gap quicker. Once they have pieces in place, the draft becomes easier even if picking in the bottom.

Jaylon Smith's injury definately hurt our spot as it dropped him out of the top 25 if not the first RD. I would not be opposed to drafting a 5T round 1 and taking either Smith/Wright RD2 1-Buckner DL 2-Smith/Wright LB 3-Sebastian Teviolta OG 4-Miles Killebrew SS Or 1-M Jack/R Ragland LB 2-Jarron Reed/Shawn Oakman DL

I think STL and HOU are two teams that will go QB also.
-
His buddy got traded to the Jets and now he has no friends on the team? Shows you the type of person BM was and why he had to go. Too bad Jeffery cannot take that mentor role and become a leader himself, but he cannot overcome the BM garbage and regain his teammates respect.
-
I am not sure you will have to trade up for him. He has plenty of yellow to red flags that teams may not want to risk. He may get the Randy Gregory treatment. Which in a way, that is one thing that can help shape the players to be better people or who they choose to be associated with.
-
Haven't heard that yet. His name was a late rd first or 2nd rd earlier. That is probably why he is now 3rd-4th rd and dropping.
-
With the announcement from Long saying he will continue at OT and we go off that, I can see them passing on Conklin/Taylor RD1 who would most likely be RTs. Leno Jr should get another crack at LT. 1-Reggie Ragland ILB with the thought of trading down a few spots to a team moving up for QB. STL trades 18, their 3rd and 4th for our 12th. 2-Cordrea Tankersly CB-Big CB that gets targeted more so since McKenzie gets avoided. 3-OJ Howard TE 3-Sebastian Tretolia OG 4-Karl Joeseph SS 4-Chris Jones DT

#Bears Kyle Long just told reporters he's been told he'll play tackle next year. Doesn't know which side yet. #BearsTalk Do you buy it? Can he improve having a off season to prepare? Looking like we will be upgrading the RG this offseason. Draft or FA, they need more strength to help both Grasu inside and Long outside.
-
Not saying I would want him, but if they want to go CB in the first his name may be up there unfortunately. Just reading different sites latest mocks, they are sneaking him back into the first again. They re-sign Porter, then CB round 1 is not as big of a need.
-
Good lay out. We will be bringing in 6-9 draft picks also, so some decisions will need to be made. I would like to see drafted, two offensive linemen and one defensive lineman. One ILB, S, and CB. Kick returner, I am good with Thompson. Even though I seen more aggression with Shea out, I think Vic likes the kid and he comes back.
-
One thing these players see is how the team treats them as their careers come to an end. Chicago has not been the most kind imo. It may be at how the team communicates on that matter. Players are selfish too and it may take them a couple years to realize that they need to run the business at the best scale possible. Having to pay high for a diminished skill because they owe it does not bring success. Alshon will get dealt his cards soon, worst case is we have 2016 with him.
-
I think we will be fine where we draft. Stanley, Conklin, or Taylor at T. Smith, Ragland, or Jack at ILB, Buckner or theres a few DTs we can take. CB and S may be an issue, they are upticking Kendall Fuller again with his 2014 play. Any way you look, we should be able to grab a player capable of starting in the league.

Glad Goldman should be good. If it was a knee, different story. AJ supposedly is invested in a salary firm FANTEX. It will be intersting in to how this plays into his contract demands. It sounded like a poor decision coming from Hub on the Score. You can buy stocks on AJ which are around $11 fyi. It will be sad if he is only chasing $ because I think Chicago is a place you can add to your earnings by being great and winning.
-
Does anybody know the severity of Goldman's injury? He is one of the best things going for this defense imo. Has any team in history had this many players on the IR? Seems like a fifth of our starters.
-
Agree! I believe the Bears put down a good first foot at establishing what those teams have. This is not a one year turn around. It has to start from the top on down and Pace was handed the keys. He has done well year one. Sure he had a couple blunders, but his base building block was a good one. Follow next season up by adding the second level to that base and so on. Next years focus should be having a winning season, if playoffs happens, then that is a bonus. By year 3, they should be contenders. That is a lot to ask for patience, but if he plays the system the right way it can happen.

Offense impressed: Cutler, Leno, Miller and Langford have gone above expectation Offense disappointment: Jeffery, Bennett, and Royal (mainly due to injury) - - - - - - - Defense impressed: Amos, Porter, Callahan, Goldman and Young Defense disappointment: McClellin, Jones, Rolle, and Ratliff.
-
I believe that any player can be coached up with the right support. Right now, this Bear's team has a good standing in coach support. They need a few more playmakers. Where? That is the question since they have put inexperienced players in all position and they have made plays. I feel that this staff can make anyone play well, but they lack on the offensive line. More brut is needed. On defense, a CB DT, LB and S to add competition. How many games can we say this D of no names has fell apart? Coaching has done well, add one or two draftees and we are looking up
-
I buy Jasons philosophy. But Tampa could not capitalize on a injured Bears roster. You can sit the questionable health guys as the Bears did, but how does a team throw a game? I'll admit, I hoped we would lose. The Bears scouting department probably did too. So know those scouts and Pace have to work harder.
-
I don't want to them them lay down and not try, that is bad. The Bears won single handedly and it should not have been as close if the blocked punt didn't happen. I would rather take a better draft slot but without giving a game. They were short handed as it was playing many practice squad level players. With this draft, I still think they can land a Ragland or Nkimdiche or Decker/Conklin. It is the later rounds were I would like the higher picks.
