You would think the guy that helped piece SFs defense together at least had some input on their first FA signing. Fox and Fangio are highly regarded defensive minds, I think they envision big things from McPhee.
-
What a shame. We could have had 4 remaining players drafted by the Bears worthy of rebuilding around (Jeffery, Long, Fuller, and Forte)
-
I still think our future QB will come out of the 2016 draft or 2017. I think there will be 4-5 first round prospects Conner Cook Cordale Jones Christian Hackenberg Jared Goff Prepare the team for rookie next year and we still have Jay who may become tradeable if he puts together a decent season.
-
What? We didn't get a 5th straight up! Damn. We still got something I suppose. They ought to let Virginia make the pick in round 5, maybe she takes Shea McClellin again so he can stick around another 4 years.
-
Fangio will make things work. Allen is the one that I am concerned the most about, but he will free up a lot of cash next season.
-
More like using our 1st RD pick on BPA. If a QB falls, then that is a possibility.
-
I was intrigued with this name. Hope it happens.
-
Since he is a Martz guy, he will grasp Gases offense? Competition is always good
-
It would suck. We just need a shot at one of the big 3 QBs in the 2016 draft. I think Cordale Jones has a shot at being #1 overall if he gets to play at Ohio State. Christian Hackleberg and Conner Cook with both go top 10. I want a shot at one of these 3 next year. Getting a top QB in the draft would be the biggest hope building block.

I will take what we can get. Start off shooting for the stars, set a limit, and if the money exceeds that, then go to player two. I would not miss out on a S and would act swiftly. Mundy and Vereen are here for a while, so landing one difference maker and one proven vet would be a good start and maybe add a 3rd/4th rd pick.
-
Trading does not work. It is only if you make a qualifying offer and the player chooses to part ways. If you do not make an offer, you also get nothing. If we have 30 mil, don't expect to see a comp pick anytime soon.
-
We can acquire the #1 pick by other means than by being a last place team. We may have to gear up for that possibility next season. Pace will want to draft a QB eventually that is in the mold of Drew Brees's work ethic. Maybe it can be a later target?
-
What would make it all much better is if we had the overall #1 pick in 2016 to have first dibs on the QB. Spend this years money on repairing the oline, TE, S, DLINE. 2015 Draft on playmakers on rd1-Randy Gregory OLB, RD2 Sammie Coates WR, RD3 Tevin Coleman/TJ Yeldin RB for example.

My deal is supposedly Pace/Fox sat with each player and BM was brought up and asked their thought of him. The verdict was most of them did not want him around. To me that is weak, but it is done. If the players disliked him that much then having an Olin Kreutz to tighten his lips up would have been nice. This team will need to identify their leaders and hopefully having malcontents is a thing of the past. Having 53 plus players, they are not all going to get along. It is just sad when one of your better talents gets voted off the island and they take his torch.

Watch the mock drafts start slotting Cooper at #7. Preferred defense, but cannot rule out WR as BPA now.
-
I don't have an issue with the coaches not wanting him if he was adamant about wanting to do his show. My biggest issue is the players that didn't have balls to stand up to him. If Robbie Gould was it, you dont have ammo to line up against any NFL team. Marshall is vocal and passionate, which is annoying I'm sure, but his locker room fits were because they were getting embarrassed. Those loses were sickening and everyone should've exploded. As much as I didn't want to take steps backwards, it is done. We've taken the first step, might as well take the rest. Cutler needs to be next and for money sake possibly Forte.

We are just going to wait it out until Aaron Rodgers retires....

Bears “exploring trade options” for wide receiver Brandon Marshall
ASHKUM BEAR replied to madlithuanian's topic in Bearstalk
Wrong Brandon Marshall, that is from Denvers LB. Our Brandon put a tweet out about blood type and not having "be negative" blood. -
Regardless of what we think, Fangio will let us know if they pull the trigger. I like some of the RB talent we may use a 6/7 rd pick on, so they will have to weigh the resources out.
-
I was referring to how minnesota is building their team the past 2-3 years.
-
They are doing things right up there. I wonder what Jerry Jones will give for AP if they lose Murray? Kinda jealous...here is to hoping Pace wipes that envy away.
-
We all will be because these coaches will have to mold a team with who we have. We are handcuffed to quite a few guys that make alot of $. Ride it out and hope for the best.
-
Not saying you said this but pointing out how I've read from different posts about how "Fangio's" guys need to fit a certain size and then they are throwing Terrance Knighten's name as a FA acquisition. They are virtually the same size at 335/339.

NE will have to make some cuts to tag McCourty. Cutting Revis alone will put them at the cap limit since they are well over. Or cut Wilfork and save 8 million. If NE decides to keep McCourty, It will hellp them to get it on a long term deal. If he hits the FA, offer him a 4 yr 40 mil 12 guaranteed.

I would be careful about dipping into the Jay pool. It would be tempting, but signing fa's doesn't always turn out. We dipped last year to bring in Allen and now were thinking how he will free up a lot of space next season by cutting him. Let's see what Fox can do with the parts he has. Use the current cap to fill the positions that look bare in the draft, like safety or ILB and draft well.
