  1. I could not be any happier about this game. Down 45 points in the fantasy football championship game with Drew Brees and Mark Ingram left to play. Ingrams TD in the last minute puts me up by 3.5 pts. I am just glad the Bears season no longer matters to me but to get a higher draft pick and find real management.
  2. I do like Emery and unlike a few, I think his drafts have been decent if you throw away his first one. Maybe the same can be said on his coaching hires. Throw away this first coaching staff, because Trestman couldnt handle keeping things in house. The leaks to the media have been sickening. I would almost say someone is leaking the play calls also. I would reach out to Holmgren with a proposal to coach a year or two, develop his replacement HC and then step into the President of Football Operations. It could be a dagger to the guy who hires him, but Emery could learn and survive which I believe he is smart enough to.
  3. It is a good move, not only to keep poachers from swiping him from us, but to possibly get him some action once we've been blown out of games. No sense risking Jay the remainder of the year with playoffs out of question. Jays contract is guaranteed, so yes we do need him healthy.
  4. I believe Clutts will be a FA after this season. Go get him Phil
  5. It is a possibility: NT- Ego Ferguson DE-Lamar Houston DE-Will Sutton OLB-Willie Young OLB-Shea McClellin ILB-Jon Bostic ILB-Christian Jones CB-Kyle Fuller CB-Tim Jennings S-Ryan Mundy S-
  6. And to think Paul Pasqualoni (Bears D-Line coach) replaced Phillips as interim DC the year the Cowboys fired him. Well we know Pasqualoni/Phillips worked together....they are both 3-4 guys along with Clint Hurtt and Reggie Herring. Maybe this is the direction the Bears are thinking?
  7. Is this to replace Jay or a back up? Sanchez looks poised and would be a strong #2.
  8. A great coach wanting to relive the glory days. Sure it's been bad, but what's the point if you don't have any hope. They need to figure something out with what they have to work with.
  9. I see Mike Holmgren has an itch to coach again and will only come back if a huge opportunity arose. With our offensive weapons, I wonder if he can be the Phil Jackson for the Bears. Also try lure Detroit DC Teryl Austin as DC/Asst Head Coach, he worked with Holmgren from 2003-2006. Holmgren can work with Emery on GM duties and Phillips on president duties....because he has done them. If Emery would like to remain a GM, he should walk into Teddys office and sell him this plan.

    Draft LT?

I've been scrounging MLBs since Urlacher. 2013, I wanted Alec Ogletree who was a converted S, big and fast also. He is doing well at STL. I was intigued by Mosely, but felt other positions were a higher priority. Now I see this kid and he has the perfect mold and he has been successful at the college level. Just to think we might be able to duplicate the 2000 draft on finding our Urlacher and Mike Brown....heck even our 1999 Olin Kreutz. But we know Emery will do something completely off wall and draft a top WR.

    Draft LT?

Would drafting another Urlacher be considered a premium like OT/DE. Because I think we can land McKinney 6'-5" 250 and 4.55 speed. The guy is a leader and can play. We might even be able to trade down a few spots, gain a 3rd and still draft him. Draft a FS round 2, Cody Prewitt, Gerod Holliman, or Darron Smith and the a Center RD3 Reece Demukes or Hronis Grasu.
  12. Trading up is basically out. It would cost a 4thRD just to move up one spot. A 2nd RD to move up 5 spots. Mariota will be #1 overall, which will cost us next years 1st and this years 3rd . Winston is reachable, but I wouldn't touch him with our 9th-12th pick. With Cutler signed at least 2 years, might as well rebuild the D and find a Center.
  13. We came into the draft with a huge need to replace Urlacher. I wanted Ogletree and it may have worked out taking him and then Warford. But as for finding a MLB, I think they chose the best guy with what was out there. I would assume we tried to trade down, but there probably wasn't any takers. If we draft a MLB this year, I think Bostic will do better at WLB and Jones/McClellin can battle out the SLB spot.
  14. Not giving Emery a break, this team has been short on having draft picks for years. Traded picks for Cutler, Marshall, Gaines Adams have crippled this franchise. Year one sucked and Shea may take another big step on his final year to save some face for that class. Year two, missing a 3rd RD pick, we take Bostic. I do not see another LB drafted after him that has done squat in the nfl. Arthur Brown was a big name talked about and he hasn't played much. We've been short on picks and some of those draft classes were weak in talent. Last year the class was good, and I think the Bears did good filling positions of need. This coming draft looks good too...
  15. I would trade down 5 spots and aquire a 3rd RD..... 1. Benardrick McKinney MLB - 6'-4" and fast- second coming of Urlacher 2. Marcus Peters CB 6' 200 - if he falls into the 2nd , this would be a huge steal. 3. Derron Smith FS 3. Hronnis Grasu C or Reece Dismukes C 4. Best RB
  16. He was the running coordinator last year and called the running plays. Statistically, were not far off from run to pass ratio. Also, linemen prefer to run block, he was a oline coach.
  17. That is true. Jay is our franchise QB, and we have him next year for sure and most likely the following. I heard that one option is stripping Trestman of the playcalling. We know Kroemer is all about running the ball, maybe a more balanced attack is all this team needs and they also need to change their movements because defenses know were we are running.
  18. Here is a big one... after Lovie took the Bears to the Super Bowl in 2006, the Chicago Bears gave him an extension. In that extension, he gained some power over personal, meaning telling Jerry who to draft. He let go of Rivera, meaning full control over the coaching staff/contracts. I would like to know what Angelo was doing with that contract extension? Why would he sign over a chunk of the power over personal to Lovie? That tells me Phillips or Mikey McCaskey are making the decisions instead of letting the GM do his work.
  19. I would give a lot of credit to the Ravens due to their President Richard "Dick" Cass also. The guy could be in line to become the next commissioner of the nfl and is highly thought of by NFL owners.
  20. Because I can. Why would I demean anyone here? It was interesting to see thoughts on the whole process and the 9 page thread was interesting as well but is locked.. Posts on how Trestman wears on players/coaches and hasnt held a job more than two years seem accurate. I think most were intrigued with Trestman and an offensive mind was a high priority.
  21. Thanks for the breakdown. If Collins is there, I would think we take him....unless they throw a wrench into the draft machine and take: Amari Cooper WR, Brandon Scherff OLT, Randy Gregory DE who seem to have a higher value.
  22. I can see that, along with Trestman getting axed. There is too much riding $ wise to see a big changeover. They may promote the Dline coach to DC and find a new ST coach, but I think they try to stay on course.
  23. It is sad that he literally took two years salary loly-gagging it. He had the last laugh. Thanks for the early years.
