  1. Best case scenario is you have a future OG or OT. Dude is huge.
  2. I'd be ok with it, but depends on who his coordinators are. Otherwise, bring me a spark plug Bowles, Quinn, Austin,
  3. Read his draft profiles. No rookie will step up and be all pro year one, and Ratliff also played NT in Dallas, made probowl I believe. Why cant a Bear draft pick develop into something solid?
  4. All those bad contracts really didn't hurt m losing Peppers, Briggs, and Tillmans big deals frees up a lot of that.
  5. Those guys are great blockers too for WRs. We have a good shot at the best OT in the draft. I know we need D, but if your first pick as a GM can anchor your oline for 10 years, that would be a great start to being a successful GM. Round two, there should be great talent left for LB or S.
  6. I think Ferguson can be a good NT in a 3-4.
  7. Hopefully the hire is someone that can make Cutler better for 2 years, but will also be a great HC beyond that thought. Targeting a coach just for Jay cannot be a reason for choosing your HC. I think Pace has that in mind. I think Kubiak is being mentioned because his offense revolves around a running game. Pace mentioned about getting the Bears back to its roots of defense and running. Having a strong run game, like Seattle, Dallas, and even GB helps any QB. Who knows, maybe having this type of offense will have you rigorously watching if they become relevant again. Kubiaks style blocking was also mentioned years ago earlier to get the most out of Fortes style of running.
  8. Agree, I just don't think rebuild and NFL go hand in hand like you see in MLB. It's either you suck or don't. In the NFL, you have contracts that are tough to move and ramifications if you cut a player. The way out is numerous years of good drafting and good coaching. If Pace can put together the good coaching, we have some talent to work with. Talent that we might not have known with under Tuckers D were numerous times LB n DB were not on the same page. On O, we couldn't get success in the first 15 plays that are scripted and practiced, which tells me there was something majorly wrong. We can argue QB or playcalling, but I don't remember very many runs in the first quarter. Go out and get these coaches before we talk about we have to trade/cut this player or that, because it might take 3 years beore we see a return on those types of moves.
  9. My ideal draft would be: 1-Stanley/Scherf LOT (Peat? ) 2-Denzel Perryman/Eric Kendricks MLB 3-Hronis Grasu/Reece Dismukes C 4-best S
  10. I think we should trade BM to GB. Have them do a sign and trade with Cobb.
  11. George only needs to know one thing as chairman and that is what it cost and how much are we making. That is why Pace doesn't report to him. I am sure Georgey will have daily communication with Ryan, but as for reporting, George wants one report to look over the business as a whole. Teddy is good with the finances, but not football, so he will allow Pace the same powers as Angelo/Emery. The only time Teddy steps in is if ownership tells him too. For example we just seen with Trestman and Emery both fired. I also believe the McKaskeys over stepped Angelo in 2006 when the media was fussing over Lovie being way under paid and then so when they fired Jerry. Teddy is the middle man and sure it would be nice to have a football player with a great business mind to run the whole show, but those guys are rare or real old. The Bears structure is fine and to think this is the first time I can remember that the gm isn't forced to keep a coach.
  12. All this Marshall has to go is garbage. Until Ryan Pace decides this, speculating is what it is. If teammates are afraid of Marshall, than maybe they are the ones that need to go. Brandon is a loud mouth. We all hate loudmouths. He is also a competitor, showed how to play through pain, and caring enough to help his teammates get better as players. He gives back to the community, maybe more than most. Teammates don't want him to step up and be vocal, but they sit on their hands in the locker room. It took Gould to tell Marshall to STFU. Gould the freaking kicker. That is why Pace stressed finding leaders. Who else tried taking a leadership role really late? Tim Jennings. This franchise needs leaders. They need captains, not some damn rotation bs. I for one think Marshall will mature even more so with the birth of his twins. Having a strong HC will help also.
  13. The only thing he has to do is stay within a budget, that is the only thing Teddy controls. Not were the money goes, but what the limit is.
  14. Then why even hire a GM who has full control of the football ops? Sure he said he will lean on these guys, but ultimately his decision is his. Accorsi was mentioned as well, I am sure he will keep ties with him through this process and after. Ted Phillips job is to be the reporter between owners and Ryan Pace, if they feel Pace needs more help, maybe they can hire a VP?
  15. I do not see a power struggle, when Pace has all say in football decisions. Shanny can walk if he doesn't like it.
  16. He has to report to Ted but he has the power to make all football decisions. Ted is only getting updates, not approvals. Nothing wrong with that imo.
  17. Youngest GM in the NFL. Lets hope he becomes the oldest one 30 years from now.
  18. Possibly? He does get the benefit of being snowed in in Chicago, no hurries to catch a flight out.
  19. Emery's biggest fault was his coaching choices and not leading when this team needed it. I will not hold judgement on his players he drafted or signed until we have competent coaching run the course.
  20. Forte is not an in between the tackles RB. Carey is, but can he be an NFL every down back. If the Bears are to succeed, they will have to run 25+/game. I would prefer Gordan, but I think he goes 15-20 and Gurley can take his time healing. Fortes contract is up after next season also. If they can get extra picks, throwing deep or swinging for the fence on a offensive playmaker is a bonus.
  21. An unusual rumor that New England wants Shaq Thompson and may try to trade up had me thinking of a swap. #1-7=1500, for #1-31=600, next years 1st= 500, #2-62=296, #3-94=116 1-31 = Benardrick McKinney MLB 2-39 =Todd Gurley RB 2-63=Hronis Grasu C 3-71=Durrell Eskridge FS 3-95=Jake Fisher OT 4-103=Quinton Rollins CB 5-Denver 6-WR
  22. The leaks are the rumblings that writers are speculating. I don't think any team will trade more than a 4th for him. The way rookie WRs have produced, plus a trade leaves his contract intact, and no team will want his dead money on the books. I am sure there are Bears that do not like him, but the team is better with him than without.
  23. I do like Seattles D and teams are sure to try and copy that. Their D was good the year before Quinn took over too. I put their success in Wilson emerging at QB. The energetic HC, OC that picked and groomed Wilson, a innovative GM that found success in big late round DBs and Brady/Quinn running a #1 D 3 years in a row. Does Quinn turn out like Gus Brady? Hard to evaluate Brady, I'd like to see how Jax plays 2 years from now. But I think Quinn can be a good candidate.
  24. Well the "leak" already ruined any leverage in a trade. Who would give up a 4th or higher for a ticking time bomb if the Bears are realeasing him and his contract get terminated?. I don't think Marshall has been bad, but you do have to worry about him.
  25. Sometimes bringing in older and more experienced is the way to go. Look at the Giants approach with Coughlin. Shanny also should have a good network of coaches to call upon, compared to an up and coming coordinator. Since I have no say on what the Bears will do, I just try to stay optimistic with their decisions.
