Denver has been stacked with talent the last couple of years. I will pass Give me Daniel Quinn DC Seahawks-DL specialist

I kinda like this class of Safeties, but all after round 1. If we took Collins rd1, I wouldn't hate it because we are thin at the posistion. My Ranking (I prefer FS) Collins SS Holliman FS Eskridge FS Derron Smith FS Anthony Harris SS/FS Jaquiski Tartt SS Kurtis Drumond FS Cody Prewitt FS

The best part is Marenelli chose Arians and Arians didn't even want him.
-
He has some flaws since this is first full season of starting but I would welcome him in RD2 or 3.
-
This time frame you are using is when Lovie Smith was awarded his contract extension and power of player personal. Just like he has now in Tampa. Here is an article from the Chicago Tribune: "The Bears missed the playoffs in five of Smith's final six seasons after a post-Super Bowl power play when Smith began exerting the type of influence the Bucs just granted him. It was February 2007 when Smith, armed with a new contract, proclaimed "trust me'' after firing defensive coordinator Ron Rivera. A month later, Smith pushed to acquire safety Adam Archuleta. Later, he endorsed Devin Hester as a No. 1 wide receiver. Lest we forget linebacker Jamar Williams, who supposedly made Lance Briggs expendable."

I think with the depth at oline and players developing (Groy, Ola, Leno) we can select later round guys again in this draft. Kromers philosophy of inside out protection will be gone, so moving Long to LT/RT is a possibility. I would like to find a RD4/RD6 Center, I am not as sold on Grasu/Reece as draft boards have them 2nd or early 3rd RD prospects. Improving the defense though the draft is one option, which can go like this. RD1- Landon Collins S RD2- Benardrick McKinney ILB RD3-Durrell Eskridge/Anthony Harris FS RD4- Eric Murray CB RD6-Brandon Vitabale C/ Mike Matthews C Or rebuild the defense through FA, and improve the offense like: 1-Toddy Gurley/Melvin Gordon RB 2-La'el Collins/Tyrus Thompson/TJ Cummings RT 3- Reece Dismukes C 4-Ben Heeney LB 6-S Issaiah Johnson S 7-CB Wayne Lyons CB

Only 16 players under contract for next season. Not much to cut but alot to fill.
-
That is possible. How quickly can they identify 3-5 candidates and make a decision? I also wonder if they are open to the Phillips position being open if someone like Ozzie Newsome can be swayed into a GM/President position?
-
Accorsi did tell the Bears it is ok to hire a HC first if they find one they don't want to lose out on.
-
One guy I see as a finalist is Marc Ross, Giants director of college scouting. He is an Accorsi guy and was a finalist for the Bears in 2012. He also was brought in by Seattle and Indianapolis to interview for GM at the same time. All 3 passed on him, so there has to be some reasoning in that. He has brought in some talent to NY and they won a couple of Superbowls 2007,2011. Any thoughts?

It is being reported that the McCaskey's have bought out the Green Bay Packers and they will be moving their stadium and roster to Chicago this winter.

No need to honor Tucker with any recognition.
-
Once again, we are basing our opinions off of a Mel Tucker ran defense. Was there any players that looked consistently good under this D? Sure Paea and Ratliff had some inside presence with sacks, but teams gutted the inside with running. I would throw away all opinions, except of Shea, Shea we know is terrible. The Bears will have a healthy cap going for next season. One thing the Bears want to get away from is relying on Free Agency to fill position of needs. They have said this process will take up to 3 years to get where they would like.
-
I think Bostic would make a decent WLB and Jones a SLB, just need to find the next great MLB. Shea can provide depth, I know guys want to cut him, but might as well ride his contract out unless some is willing to trade a late pick.
-
De La Puenta will be a FA. But they need to re-sign him also.
-
Looking back 8 years of pick #7. 2015-? 2014- Mike Evans WR Tampa 2013-Jonathan Cooper G Arz 2012-Mark Barron SS Tampa 2011-Aldon Smith DE SF 2010-Joe Hayden CB Clev 2009-Darrius Heyward-Bey WR Oak 2008-Sedrick Ellis DT NO 2007-Adrian Peterson RB Min
-
The Bears did one thing right...they lost the game. Pick 7 is ours.
-
1. I expected to see De la Puenta to get this type of deal 2. The draft is not very strong for Center. The top two are categorized as zone blocking scheme fits and would do better moving in space. Later round picks Brandon Vitabile or Nick Martin might be an option, but wouldn't be expected to be NFL ready. Cameron Erving played C, but may get drafted to play OT. So they are insuring they have an option and might also re-sign DLP.

Vereen was a late 4th, nearly a 5th RD pick. But interesting info!

Down to a few days until Black Monday. I am ready to put an end to the season and see how devoted the Bears ownership is to selling their product to the greatest fan base in the NFL. I have to say I will not be satisfied with their actions unless they put a football mind in charge of all decisions. The coaching staff has to go, which is easy because the players will never buy into them again. Emery may survive, he has made costly mistakes, but with structure above him and a competent coach below him, he may be servicable. If they drop only the coaches and Phillips and Emery survive, I will be highly disappointed and would expect more mediocrity and expect to see more women in green and gold.

It will be very unlikely that any team will trade a high enough draft pick to make it worth our while and it's unlikely a team will take his 26 million guaranteed contract anyways. Chicago fans and media, not saying you, have always wanted their QB ousted. Going back to the days after McMahon and Harbaugh, this team has not had stability until they actually committed with Jay. Getting rid of Jay, just to get rid of him would be a huge set back on a team already depleted on talent. Most people see that the bigger issue to fix is the structure of this team from top management, to the GM, and to the HC. If ownership gets serious and invests in those first, let them evaluate and put pieces together.
-
This created a huge need going into next season. Pass rush has been disappointing this season to begin with, especially since we invested into 3 big name FA's. I cannot see them releasing Jared Allen to create cap and our #1 pick might have to go DE. Randy Gregory, Leonard Williams, Shane Ray, Trade down: Dante Fowler Jr, Round two: Shawn Oakman, or Noah Spence.
-
I think he would be a good choice as long as he knows of a good OC that can groom QBs.
-
"This system" will most likely not be the same system they run next season. I did like the moxy Clausen showed. You can hear and see him run the offense before the snap. I am not sure he if he is the answer at QB, but he showed how it should look like. The only way I would want to see Cutler traded is if we recieved good compensation. The rumor of it would cost a 2nd for a team to take his salary would be crazy for the Bears to do. They will have a lot of cap room next season with his salary regardless. To be honest, the benching may be the best thing for him. He will have to compete to become a starter again and if he screws up enough I wouldn't hesitate to sit him again. Only a week away for the firework show to start. Should be interesting to see how serious McKaskeys are.
