He was redshirted his rookie year and took his Mormon duties last year. So they don't know exactly what he can do. Clutts was a great lead blocker, but unga can do the same at a lower level but play a bigger role in a passing game and as a runner. I can see him moved up by mid season. I did like Clutts and think we will miss he lead blocker. Plus Unga is just as fun to say as Clutts. I guess the main argument I was pleading is I like him on the practice squad. Having him may have helped on the decision to trade Clutts, but he's still not on the 53. Now keeping Allen, I don't understand unless they plan on possibly releasing Booker if he fumbles.
-
That's just an opinion, fine. The team felt differently. Clutts will be missed, but keeping Adams is the direction Tice wants to go. Kliensasser is the route I see with keeping the TEs. At least we got something for him too. Unga holds value if Bush goes down for short yardage. Forte hasn't been successful there and we know Booker or Allen are just too small. It's a wise move having insurance on a practice squad.
-
I'm glad we're holding onto Unga. We invested in him and this is our first glance at him. He has some decent skills coming out of college and now that he's in camp, maybe we can translate what we saw. It's practice squad, so not a big deal. Imo. If Bush goes down, Unga could become a perfect goal line back. Pull up his draft profile, I see Toby Gerhart.

I will share my draft, which is a 12 team league: I had the #2 pick in a snake draft and this is the order I picked the players. QB's score 6 so they were a hot commodity in rd1. Ray Rice rb Eli Manning QB Maurice Jones Drew rb Hakeem Nicks wr Jeremy Maclin wr Reggie Bush rb Kenny Britt wr SF DEF Rashard Jennings rb Michael Crabtree wr Greg Olsen te Robbie Gould k

I think we will have to wait on drafting a safety and sign a solid vet while we develop Hardin. First two rounds will be olt, dt, or lb. I have a feeling once Urlacher is done, we change or philosophy. Unless we find another LB with his speed and range.

I love football season. Now that college season has started, I like to follow my team Notre Dame, but more importantly I like to follow top players I'd like to see the Bears draft. Today I'm watching North Carolina, they have a LB Kevin Reddick I've seen some mocks with the Bears taking in the 2nd. How about we use this post to mention players we like for the Bears.

Looks like he was traded to the Texans for CB Sherrick McManis. More depth......
-
He has to experiment his moves to find out what works. I'm sure it is something Merinelli has taught him. If he gets squared up, he's no going to win. Give him time to develop his moves and he'll be a monster opposite of Peppers. Just relax and sip some orange kool aid

I know money means something to Bell, but at this point I think he personally wants to go somewhere where he has a shot at a #2. He knew he'd have no shot here in Chicago with Forte and Bush signed to big long term contracts.
-
The thing about Bell is he was similar to Forte and Bush but had a issue with fumbles. Booker and Allen offer a change of pace, plus are cheaper. Gonna miss Bell, but think the move makes sense.

After watching last nights practice, Jeffery looked like he a man among boys. He stood out more than the others, maybe because he was targeted more so. I think if Cutler gets time to throw he will have a hay day. Even Kellen Davis made some spectacular catches. Couple of other notes that caught my eye from last night: Forte looks fast. I think he came in to camp in the best shape yet and will put up some monster numbers. McClellin also looked fast on the edge. Not only does he have speed, but standing next to the rest of the dline, he looks like a monster. Give him a year or two on the NFL weights and if he can pick up some technique we will have a gem. Our offensive line just can't cut it. Our d-line looked liked all stars on every play as they were penetrating and having to shut down to avoid hitting the qb. If we don't draft/add talent in next years draft which should be a deep one in OT's I will give up on drafting oline.

ASHKUM BEAR replied to Chitownhustla's topic in Bearstalk
Urlacher back in Bourbonnais, but not practicing. Maybe we will get more info later today. My guess is they cleaned out the knee now so he s ready by gb. -
I agree, thats why I take all of it with a grain of salt.

Carimi a force early at RT... http://www.csnchicago.com/football-chicago...mp;feedID=10330 Do we believe what we are reading, or should we not buy into it because he is probably a force against Shea?
-
Agreed! Please don't let one article saying he was manhandled label him. The article was apparently written to keep the pot stirring. Lets give these rookies some time to adjust to the NFL. I remember reading people saying the Urlacher pick was a bust his rookie year. One thing for sure is these kids have drive to succeed and they know they are on a hungry team with superstars in pursuit of a ring.

Report from day one TC: "The guy who appeared to be the most consistent Thursday, at least in terms of catching the ball, was rookie tight end Evan Rodriguez, who struggled during minicamp" I still sticking with this guy being a rock for Cutler. Hopefully they continue developing a chemistry early on.

It's been a little quiet lately (besides reading the "great debates" by Wesson and Jason), so lets start a discussion on players that may surprise us a little by contributing more than we might expect in 2012. I'm gonna give an offensive and a defensive player that I think will make a mark on the 2012 season. Offensively, I think we will see some great plays this year and I hope Alshon Jeffery makes a mark, but the one guy I think that will surprise us all with making big plays is TE Evan Rodriguez. I think he will rack up a lot of YAC and be Cutlers check down and them two will develop great chemistry. Defensively, I think Shea McClellin will also make his mark, but the surprise player will be S Brandin Hardin. He has great physical tools, size, and once Lovie gains trust or Major Wright goes down Hardin will come in and make the backfield a nightmare for opposing WR's. I think he will make his mark later in the season, but when he does it will be a bigger one than any of us would've thought. I can't wait for training camp to open and have a feeling Bourbonnias won't be ready!!!!
-
Come on, don't you know that I am really Michael McCaskey! Where do you think I got the idea to finally fire Jerry Angelo from, that's right Talk bears!
-
If Jeffery is all that, he would've been a top 10 pick and not a 2nd RD. He has to take steps in the NFL and if things are given to him, he won't put in any of the work. Opening day, he will be probably 4th on the depth chart, but later in the season he will hopefully earn more playing time.
-
Maybe this is the year it all comes together for Devin? If he could just grasp certain aspects of the game and now with a huge threat playing the opposite side, Devin could explode with his athletic talent. We will see.
-
I would hope one of those top 7 OT's are there at 32!!!
-
As the process never ends in my world I am making a list of players I think the Bears will keep a keen eye on as they draw out there scouting schedule. Next years draft, they will need two homeruns with the the first two picks as they have no 3rd RD. If things fall right this season, this should be a deep OLT draft. The positions as of today that they will need to add youth: OLT Chris Faulk LSU 6-6 325 Taylor Lewan Mich 6-8 302 Jake Matthews Tex AM 6-5 305 Oday Aboushi Virg 6-6 310 Luke Joeckel Tex AM 6-6 310 Ricky Wagner Wis 6-6 322 DJ Fluker Ala 6-6 335 DT Johnathan Hankins Ohio St 6-3 318 Star Lotuleile Utah 6-4 325 Kawann Short Purdue 6-3 610 Jessie Williams Ala 6-4 320 Kwame Geathers Ga 6-6 328 Sharrif Floyd Fl 6-3 205 CB Xavier Rhodes Flor St 6-2 215 Micah Hyde Iowa 6-1 185 LB Nico Johnson Ala 6-3 245 Jelani Jenkins FL 6-1 223 Tom Wort OK 6-0 229 Kevin Reddick NC 6-3 240 C Khaled Holmes USC 6-4 305 Dalton Freemon Clem 6-5 285 James Ferentz Ia 6-2 284 My first take (and I know its early lol) RD1- Luke Joeckel OLT Virginia RD2- Jessie Williams DT Alabama RD3- (traded to Miami-Brandon Marshall) RD4- LB RD5- C RD6- CB RD7- RB

I wonder how much he's sitting back and letting Tommie Harris mentor him? Tommie lost a lot of incentive based $$ with the injuries and Lovie benching him. I'm sure TH was bitter.
-
The oline needs 5 talented players, that's why hitting the draft consistantly with prospects is important. Chris Williams is heading into his last season on contract and Webb hasn't done anything but hold the door. Carimi suffered a serious knee injury, which I hope he can rebound and live up to being an all-pro at RT player. Garza is aging and we have hand me downs at G. We need to add young talent and some point.
