  1. I think if we miss on Nix, guys like Hageman and Truitt can fit. Hageman either spot NT/DE or Truitt DE. Obviously we'd want to move down with Truitt. Whichever way we go, the guy that can handle playing 3-4 and 4-3 the better bc i think we will run both.
  2. I'd like to see more of a hybrid, but yeah, Greene seems to be a WLB cover2 guy. But you never know, he played Safety early on at Rutgers, so he has speed and ability to adjust. Maybe he can take the next step.
  3. Greene is an ILB in a 3-4, and he was most compared to Lance Briggs coming out Rutgers. His best fit is a WLB in a cover 2 defense.
  4. Ahhh, of course!!! Since we already drafted this freak in 2011, Shea McClellin. I wanted to compare his measurable to players this year with the thinking of a 3-4 switch. Looking at Cornelius Washington's profile, he also has nice measurables. 6'4" 265 4.53 40 time I believe Phil Emery had some idea of a switch when he was hired. Not sure if those picks will end up translating, but if so, we have 1 OLB McClellin, 2 ILB Bostic/Briggs.
  5. Bears staff shows interest in 3-4 LB, more indication of a change? Freakish size and speed ratio. 6'3" 260 4.62 40 time 50 tackles, 7 for loss, 12.5 sacks, two ints, one FF, Projects as an ideal 3-4 outside linebacker in the NFL. He has the athletic ability to drop into coverage and play space. He is a fabulous edge rusher who will give offenses fits with how to slow him down coming around the corner. He also has the ability to play some inside linebacker to stuff runs and rush up the middle. His instincts are phenomenal, and they allow him to create splash plays. He could turn into a special perimeter linebacker who will impact game plans. Strengths: Extremely instinctive . Very versatile . Propensity to make splash plays . Excellent pass rusher off the edge . Uses hands and feet well . Great hip/shoulder flexibility to turn the corner . Nice repertoire of moves . Operates well lining up off the line of scrimmage . Fluid athlete to drop into coverage . Has some ball-skills . Intelligent; can learn multiple positions . Plays well in space . Durable . Experienced; ready to play immediately in the NFL . Good pursuit skills . Shedding blocks . Excellent technique . Consistently productive . Relentless motor Weaknesses: . Weight fluctuates . Bit of a tweener in a 4-3 defense . Could add some more strength
  6. If these are 3-4 guys, then expect a big change in the scheme. I would expect to see the Bears showing a lot of attention to Nix. If he goes before 14, trade down for a 3-4 end. Safety will be a round 2 pick with Bucannon, Pryor, Reynolds, Bailey avaiable. Ratliff will most likely be resigned also.
  7. SF has two 2nd RD picks....one from the Alex Smith trade. According to the trade value chart, moving down that far would garner a 2nd and possibly a 5 or 6th. That would be an ideal trade, SF may want less quantity and more quality.
  8. Thowing together different scenarios on how a draft could look depending on how it starts. Scenario 1 would be my choice... Scenario1: 1a. Ra'Shede Hageman MN DT 6'6" 311- Transcends scheme, power/explosion, long arms to disrupt vision/deflect passes. OR 1b. Timmy Jernigan DT FSU 6'2" 298 - Quick to get through the gap, disrupt qb, great run defender 2. Deone Bucannon S WSU 6'1" 215 - Hard hitting safety and solid tackler 3a. Kareem Martin DE NC 6'6" 265 - Great size/speed and plays physical. OR 3b. Dominque Easly DE FL 6'2" 282 - Torn ACL drops him, creates havoc/plays non stop 4. Wayne Lyons CB Stnfd 6'1" 192 - Academic standout with size/speed 5. Chris Davis CB Auburn 5'11" 200 - Returned the FG 109 against Alabama 6. AC Leonard TE TN St. 6'4" 245 - Kicked out of Florida, has skill 6. Andrew Miller C VT 6'4" 293 - Superb run blocker ------------------------------------------------ Scenario 2: 1. HaHa Clinton-Dix FS AL 6'1" 209- Top Safety on the board, brings leadership 2. DaQuan Jones DT PSU 6'3" 318- Large run stuffing DT 3. Keith McGill CB Utah 6'3" 205 - Big DB to cover Megatron 4. Ben Gardner DE Stnfd 6'4" 275 - Solid everydown DE with size/speed 5. Chris Davis CB Auburn 5'11" 200 - Returned the FG 109 against Alabama 6. AC Leonard TE TN St. 6'4" 245 - Kicked out of Florida, has skill 6. Andrew Miller C VT 6'4" 293 - Superb run blocker --------------------------------------------- Scenario 3: 1. Justin Gilbert CB - 2. Calvin Prior FS Louisville 3. Ahmad Dixon SS Baylor 4. Derrick Hopkins DT VT 5. Aaron Lynch DE SFU . AC Leonard TE TN St. 6'4" 245 - Kicked out of Florida, has skill 6. Andrew Miller C VT 6'4" 293 - Superb run blocker
  9. I agree on the bulk, which I almost put Da'Quan Jones PSU or Deandre Coleman Cal in at that pick. Donald is one of those guys that I think will be dominant if he has that right players around him.
  10. My take: Rd1: Kony Ealy DE Miz Rd2: Aaron Donald DT Pit Rd3: Loucheiz Purifoy CB FL Rd4: Ed Reynolds S Stanford Rd5: Dontae Johnson CB NC St Rd6: Tyler Lawson C Utah St Rd6: Pat O'Donnell P Miami
  11. I with you. He got a break, but will need to show vast improvement. Lets hope Emery can get him the pieces to do it; if not he will get shown the door. This is the year to build, we have 7 draft picks and money to add some FAs
  12. The writing was on the wall years ago. The failure was Angelo and the shape this team was left in. I am impressed at how this offense has turned around and it's in great shape for 2-3 years. On defense, they gambled on it holding up and that ended up being a bad bet. But, with contracts ending and your stars aging, they knew this year they would be addressing the D. They hired Tucker with knowledge of the Lovie era ending and a new one to begin. As much as I want a proven DC, I'm willing to give Trestman/Emery a chance to show why Tucker was brought in. The Lovie Era is now over, the Bears now have resources to implement step 2 on addressing defense and we should be excited to see what happens next.
  13. Great read Stinger! Hopefully the link works link: http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1915574...oney-best-spent
  14. Romo signed a 6 year extension. Cutler a 7, the dollars match up, its the going rate if you want a QB. Wait until big Ben re-ups his. This is the new NFL, at least we didn't draft JaMarcus Russell and had to pay his rookie contract. Thats part of the nfl cba, vets will be getting the money. Plus with Jays deal, the Bears can adjust on the go and convert some of that to bonus when needed. We have a method to add cap when/if needed.
  15. They obviously have a long term plan worked into this. There's not enough cap right now to field a 53 man roster. I think we will see more moves made. Peppers contract comes to mind and then Marshall. Marshall I bet already has a deal done. He was the only leak on Cutler, hence his deal probably required knowing Jay was retained. Should be interesting in the coming months.
  16. Nice work! I hope Clayton was off on his numbers too, but didn't consider all 5 signings either. I can see Marshall getting a 2-3 year extension, that is more friendly than the 9 million hit now. Give him more years guaranteed since this is the final year on his contract.
  17. I take it with a grain of salt, but John Clayton says the Bears have 2 million left in cap space. That was saying we started with 34. I'm guessing we should be closer to 12-15, and room to improve by cutting Bush and E. Bennett.
  18. I take it with a grain of salt, but John Clayton says the Bears have 2 million left in cap space. That was saying we started with 34. I'm guessing we should be closer to 12-15, and room to improve by cutting Bush and E. Bennett.
  19. You may be right on Horton. He is interviewing for the Vikings for the HC.
  20. It's on a Spiegel tweet that SCS posted, but who knows if this is even true lol! But now guys will be mad because the cap hits went from 3 years to 5.
  21. If the latest information on the cap hits is true, Cutler's 2014 hit is 11.8 million....which is not insane and is up just a little from the 10.37 hit we had this year (2013).
  22. This is why it makes no sense to cry the sky is falling until all the information comes out. If this is true, which I would believe, then we have plenty of cap space to retool.
  23. I agree, huge Golden Domer myself. I think he has the motor to play 3T.
  24. I would think if we stay in the same scheme they go with Jernigan from FSU. He would fit the 3T better IMO. Not saying Nix couldn't though, he's just more massive.
