I think they draft OT too. Rief is a RT and they have a chance to get joekel or Fisher. They can get a good CB rd 2.
-
Agree, a lot of people spouting off on the man and he very well may be back. His play lacked, but if it was as bad as some say, then how did we maintain a top d all year. MLB in this scheme is the #2 key in running it.
-
A good LG helps, but thinking pass blocking help depends on how D's are attacking the gaps. If they know Webb is bad, they are going to try and single him out. Doing that by putting the MLB in the LG's gap if his assignment was to help. Football is 11 on 11, so each player ultimately has to take care of his own.

Exactly! I take pff stats as just a small piece of evaluating. Like when fantasy football drafting, looking at projections. I still never take Stafford over Brady, because a stat said he had more yards. The kid from detroit would, but the other 11 guys would think he had lost it. Bushrod is not elite, but maybe in the 10-16 range of LT, Webb imo would be in the 24-30 range. The team improved and we at least go into camp with a RT battle and not two duds battling out the for the premier LT spot.

It was this year, maybe it was before half time? But they only rushed 3 and destroyed our front 5 or 6.

Final drives of Bears vs SF, 3 D linemen vs bears 5 O lineman. Cutler sacked and hit on every play. The guys we had all sucked.
-
He also thinks of himself as Superman...

Webb now has his work cut out for him as does Carimi. Now that there are no pet projects, we will see ho we this team shapes. Webb has growing up to do and Carimi has his body/footwork to work on. I trust our staff will play the better player that brings W'S

Sounds like 4 yr 20 million. Also read 5.25 anually? Per twitter....schetfler

Not many opportunities sitting behind Witten. I also think playing behind a guy that you know you can't supplant will demoralize you some. I still have hope for Rodriguez, but with Bennett you get a complete package with blocking/recieving.
-
It would be hard to imagine Carimi falling that far. I would hope he wins outright too. Kind of scary when news broke that we went hard after Loadholt and there are many also links that think we grab Fluker. Lets hope his leg is back and he added strength.
-
I'm really falling for Swope, I would've taken him at rd2 but that was a bit of a reach. I intially had DT Kawaan Short RD2 but thought they needed a LB or WR more. I think we end up trading down if Cooper/Warmack are gone in the first. I'd like Fluker but don't see a RT as a must, and Ogletree/Te'o may be too risky. Maybe we go Austin? But filling LT/TE has just made it interesting.
-
I've seen Reddick anywhere from late 3rd down to the 6th round. I am a little optimistic, because I really don't see Cooper at 20 either. But hey, it's a mock ;-)

Today was a great day for Phil Emery. He brought in one of the top TE's and a LT that has been to 2 probowls. Two positions that had cost the Bears many chances to win last season. It seems like we get a Christmas every offseason, which hopefully with some good drafts will not be needed in the future. Bears signings: Martellus Bennett TE - One of top all around TE's available, if Bennett keeps his head in the game. Jermon Bushrod LT- 2 time probowl LT for Brees, Bushrod faced a pass rush probably close to 70% of the game. The Bears won't be as pass happy and more balanced, throwing off opposing DE's that normally were ready to attack. *Brian Urlacher LB - Urlacher gets his farewell tour with a 2 year deal and also comes back one year healthier. *Kevin Boothe G - Boothe comes in to play RG, but can also play C. Carimi, Brown, Louis all have a shot at taking this spot. *Israel Idonije DT/DE Draft: RD1 Jonathan Cooper G NC Had grades that said he was a top 10 player, but he slides due to being undersized at 295. The Bears currently have recently signed Boothe and possibly Carimi as healthy guards and still have to decide to resign injured Lance Louis. Cooper solidifies the left side, playing next to Bushrod. RD2 Trade to Miami for (2) 3rds 3-A Barrett Jones G/C-barring his foot injury, Jones may spend the season learning from vet Garza the play calling. If he comes in healthy, the Bears can save some cap space by release Garza. 3-B Ryan Swope WR 6-0 205, but ran a 4.34 40. Swope fits the Wes Welker mode and will play the slot. He runs good routes, had nice hands, and plays with love/toughness. RD4 Terry Hawthorne CB - Hawthorne has decent size/speed combo and shined at the east west game. The Bears need to find youth the can eventually replace Tillman and Jennings who are FA next year. RD5 Kevin Reddick LB - Reddick is a solid ILB, has decent speed and a nose for the ball. RD6 Chris Jones DT - The Bowling Green DT knows how to pressure the QB and can keep Melton/Paea's legs fresh as a rotational player.
-
Drooling over that possibility. I'm sure Barrett will be there round 2. Cooper will be a wildcard. He could go anywhere from 10-20.
-
This helps improve 2 spots on the line. Now our draft will look for OG, LB, , and WR in RD1.
-
Revis traded to the Giants to for Victor Cruz.
-
Come on man! This is a board about the beloved Bears, not about bowling. ;-)
-
Urlachers starting asking price is 2 years 5 million a year per multilble sources.
-
I will say if we don't have cap space to bring in...lets say jake long, then I think Webb is our guy. We will not draft a starter quality LT. Plus Webb will be much improved. It is his big pay day season, he knows if he produces then he will never have to worry about getting his next happy meal. I would be fine with it as long as we can draft Cooper rd1 and lets Jones rd 2. But knowing how Webb is, I wouldn't resign him and would hope we can land a LT next year.
-
I would consider Long, if his injury with his arms is good. Albert has a bad back, which once your back is shot it lingers. Bring him in for an interview and restructure some contracts, nothing to lose from that!
-
I won't say good, because im an oline guy. I wanted decastro and was pissed when we took shea and I didnt know much about him. But my intial response to you was that you said we didn't sign any oline. I took it as you forgot about the 3 guys brought in, which they were not memorial in any big way.
-
That is true, but then we would need another dominant DE. Too bad we don't know what Shea can do year two.
-
Cutting pep won't gain us much in cap, maybe 6 million and we'd still lose 8 million in dead cap. I think restructuring him is tough too, but that would be our best option. That's the price you pay for having to reach in the fa well.

Brown went undrafted because he likes the same stuff Webb likes. When he got the opportunity to play, he did well. His first two games he rated -9.8, but the next two games he rated at +2.4. I think he makes the 53 man next year. Brown was a good signing by a lot nfl experts opinions also. Rachal was terrible, but I think they were hoping he'd be lightning in a bottle. Scott was a solid. If I remember right, there wasnt much to sign in fa.
