  1. Seems like a good chunk on this board and pretty much all the "professional" websites think different. Even on his good streak, he was running for his life every play, so going off sacks doesn't tell the whole story. Just a different opinion is all. Also, we are not going to add a vet in the mix at this point, so we have the guys we are going to have. I think they will improve with a offseason program, but they will also be learning different plays/schemes. Next year they will be adding a player or two from the draft. Emery said they had a OL player in sight with this year 2nd RD pick, but Jeffery was by far the bpa that would help the Bears win. I can live with that.
  2. Grew up in the small town of Ashkum 70 miles south of Chicago off of I-57. Been a Bears fan for life, especially after 1985 as I remember being in 5th grade getting to watch the superbowl shuffle on one of those cart tv's with a vcr. I try to go to one away game each year along with one or two home games. It amazes me how many Bears fans travel and tailgate on the road games.
  3. It's not directed towards one person, it's everything I read, hear on the radio etc. Like I said, I was deflated myself after I heard McClellin and I even said after Hardin another freaking safety in the 3rd RD? Myself personally had different ideas on who I would've taken. Now I'm reading more about these guys and think they can be huge contributors next season.
  4. Every year its the same old whining and crying after the draft because we didn't take this player or that player. I start reading mocks in August and have hope built up come April, then feel deflated after we take a name I'm not familiar with like McClellin or Hardin. I remember last year after the Conte pick there was a lot of it, well he contributed very well and he was a 3rd RD pick? That's pretty good and he is now looking to be a starter come 2012. Lets ease up on the whining and find hope for the guys we have. The positions we drafted were very well known needs and I think we have 3 starters already. So instead of wasting energy on hate, sip some kool-aid!
  5. This guy was a top 10 pick early on because of him game. Now we have 2 Beast's at WR!!!
  6. I agree that DT is up there too, but talent wise we can get a solid safe OT prospect. After this group, there's not much left.
  7. You beat me to my post. I think we have to go on the oline RD2, no solid depth at OT.
  8. Like it or not, we added to our pass rush. We will all be gellin like McClellin soon I hope. But I like what round two can bring, the other big need, OT or Oline. One will be availale come #50 Cordy Glenn G Peter Konz C John Martin OT Mike Adams OT Bobby Massie OT Jeff Allen OT Mitchell Swartz OT I hope Emery's plan comes together like he planned and adding a potential starting OLT happens in RD2.
  9. My guess and in order is: Floyd Coples Mercilus Brockers Perry Reiff Martin/Adams Glenn
  10. Final Mock using Emery/Lovie draft board.... RD1 Whitney Mercilus DE IL 6-4 261 4.63 40yd Mercilus has been on the draft boards from the get go. He performed well on tape and did what he had to in the combine and pro day to maintain his status. The Bears have shown interest in him and the position makes sense. RD2 Harrison Smith FS ND 6-2 213 4.56 40yd Smith was a combine climber and has caught the attention of Lovie Smith. With Wright's health always in limbo and safety a big part of Lovies D the Bears seem like the same old Bears and take another FS. RD3 Jeff Allen OLT IL 6-4 307 33-1/2 arm Allen is a legit LT that will take some time developing. Mike Tice is known for his past developments and can work with Allen to get him up to speed to compete with Webb. RD4 Marvin McNutt WR IA 6-3 216 4.54 40yd RD5 Emmanuel Acho OLB 6-1 238 RD6 Vontaze Burfict ILB 6-1 248 RD7 Kevin Koger TE
  11. Ditto! My big board in order: RD1: Floyd WR Coples DE Cox DT Martin OT Mercilus DE Adams OT
  12. There are certain positions that you have to invest higher in than others, and OLT in probably #2 right behind QB. I don't think Martin would be a reach at 19 and would not be upset if the Bears took him. IMO, these are positions to spend 1st picks on: 5 years of draft history shows where picks were spent in the top 10. DT-10 OT-9 QB-8 DE-6 LB-6 WR-6 CB-2 Other-4 Top 10 picks in the first RD: 2011: 3 QB, 1 OT, O DE, 1 CB, 2 WR, 2 LB, 1 DT (#11-DE JJ Watt) 2010: 1 QB, 2 OT, 0 DE, 1 CB, 0 WR, 1 LB, 3 DT...1 S (#11-OT Anthony Davis) 2009: 2 QB, 3 OT, 1 DE, 0 CB, 2 WR, 1 LB, 1 DT (#11-DE Aaron Maybin) 2008: 1 QB, 1 OT, 3 DE, 0 CB, 0 WR, 2 LB, 2 DT 1 RB (#11-CB Leodis McKelvin) 2007: 1 QB, 2 OT, 2 DE, 0 CB, 2 WR, 0 LB, 1 DT 1 S, 1 RB (#11-LB Patrick Willis) With the Bears, we can throw out QB and maybe CB because this defense says it don't need expensive CB's. That leaves OT, DE, DT, WR and LB. WR and LB are not on our A list, but will be considered.
  13. That is off of draft tek and most of those picks were how they picked them. I switched a few later on to my likings.
  14. Round 1 - Jonathan Martin OT Stanford also on the board when we pick: Whitney Mercilus DE IL Dre Kirkpatrick CB AL Stephen Hill WR GT Mike Adams OT Oh St This is a no brainer, but it would've been tough if Quentin Coples was still there which he was taken #18 by SD. The glaring holes on the team are OLT, DE, and DT. Round 2 - Bruce Irvin DE West Virginia also on the board when we pick: Mohammed Sanu WR Rutgers Zebrie Sanders OLT FL St Coryell Judie CB Tex AM Casey Hayward CB Vand The Bears worked out Irvin and like his athletiscm. He will come in as a situational pass rusher and learn the ropes from Peppers. Round 3 - Trumain Johnson CB Montana also available we we picked: Vinny Curry DE Marshall Jake Bequette DE Ark Brandon Thompson DT Clemson Trumain has the size the Bears like to play there style D. Round 4 - Ladarius Green TE LA-Lafayette also available when we pick: Vontaze Burfict ILB Ariz St Nate Potter OT Boise St Donnie Fletcher CB Boston College Green is a big red zone threat that can stretch the field, very athletic and good hand. Round 5 -Jaye Howard DT FL also available when we pick: Keenan Robinson OLB Texas Tommy Streeter WR Mia Josh Chapman DT AL Tank Carder LB TCU Howard is an athletic D lineman that can join the rotation. Round 6 - Brian Quick WR App State also available when we pick: Jordan White WR W Mich Dan Herron RB Oh St. Round 7 - Darius Flemming OLB Notre Dame
  15. Exactly, I think the team will always consider an upgrade and they will put the best 5 out there. We've only added to this team by subtraction (omiyale cut) and that just don't cut it with all the pressure our QB's have taken. Even with Turner calling plays our QB's had little time in the pocket and we couldn't get that one yard for a 1st or TD.
  16. I hate to say it, but I see DE written all over RD1. The defensive line is rich is early talent and we can get a young center piece to bookend with Peppers. I really would love to see Coples, but there is no way he can fall to 19. I wouldn't be upset with Cordy Glenn either. I keep thinking back to Brandon Alberts and I was hoping we took him.
  17. Eagles OT Jason Peters tear achilles tendon out for 2012. This may have an impact on what OT's are available in the draft or FA. Maybe they sign McNeil or Bell in FA or look to draft Martin. Regardless, they will need to find a replacement and that takes away one OT we may like.
  18. Next year Bennett will be our #2. Thats why we extended him. We can want a better #2 playing opposite, but it won't happen. Maybe we draft someone to groom? but the Bears intentions are for him to be the #2 on the field after Marshall. Hester will look much better playing in the slot, if he can learn that. He should be a great #3 slot WR. If he cannot learn it, then Bennett will play more z while Hester plays Y. Either way, that a lot of $ in the WR position. My wild card thought is the signing of Thomas/Weems might be a sign the Bears try to deal Hester, but I can never see us getting good value from that.
  19. We already have our #2 and #3. I believe we are done at the WR position unless a steal is upgrade is available at a price to good to pass up. Marshall Bennett Hester Thomas Sanzenbacher Weems (KNOX-IR)
  20. CB is a need, but this defense does not need a RD1 talent for its philosphy. I think a RD3 pick plus Jennings would be sufficient. RD1 needs to be one of the following: DE: Quinton Coples, Nick Perry, or Whitney Mercilus Looks like we can be inline for a top tier DE. Coples wearing NC blue and his size reminds me of Pepper, Perry is a little smaller and more athletic, and Mercilus is a hometown boy that performed well in the Big-10 OLT: Jonathon Martin, Mike Adams, Cordy Glenn Chances are Martin will be long gone, but some mocks have had Adams available. Glenn can be drafted as a lock at G with possiblity of moving outside WR: Michael Floyd Some experts think he will be drafted anywhere from 14-22, we would have to really think about adding another big playmaker but the need isn't as high after Marshall. RD2: Bobby Massie OLT, Zebrie Sanders OLT, Vinny Curry DE, Justin Criner WR, Reuben Randle WR, Brian Quick WR RD3: Brandon Boykin CB, Casey Hayward CB, Trumaine Johnson CB, Marvin Jones WR, Marvin McNutt WR, Al Toon WR, AJ Jenkins WR, How I see the draft going: RD1- DE Quinton Coples RD2- OLT Zebrie Sanders RD3- WR Marvin McNutt RD4- CB Chase Minnefield RD5- TE Ladarius Green RD6- OLB Oliver Vernon RD7- OLB Josh Kaddu
  21. Agree Parker! If the Bears sign Royal, which I wouldn't hate, then I don't see them drafting a WR unless its after RD4. I think we need to find one in the draft and develop, like Hill, Marvin Jones, or Justin Criner. We are all ready to demote Hester to ST's only, but I think he will still play quite a bit as the #3 lined up in the slot. With Hester coming out of the slot, he will see he can get seperation and exploit LB's and S's with his speed. In the draft, I really see the Bears addressing 3 positions off the bat....DE/WR/OLT in BPA order. Then finding CB/S/LB/TE later. As for Weeps, he will never see the field as a WR unless it's due to injury. He is a great ST and if I remember right, ST's is part of the game?! Lovie has proved his formula of playing great ST's can win football games and that move was worth the coin. In FA, the Bears will still toy with adding a replacement for Barber like Bush, Okoye at DT or Spice Adams, Wimberly if he becomes available for DE, Hayden at CB, possibly a S, and maybe an improvement on the oline. I'm not saying all those positions, but what comes at the right price. Emery is a believer in the draft, so it might get real quite for a month or so.
  22. Not sure, but I heard we lost "our" 3rd and not the one from Carolina, which is better for us! Something about not being able to trade a pick acquired in a trade? Then according to the draft trade chart, trading a following years pick is equal to a round less than this years value....so next years third will have 4th round value.
  23. I'd give Enderle another year and I do not want to waste the 3rd QB spot on McCown. We need to develop! If we want to bring in an undrafted FA to challenge Enderle, thats fine. But NO to drafting a QB this year and NO to McCown!
  24. I figured all the Mario Williams talk was just smoke and really thought we go DJax because we weren't going w/ a rookie WR to be a #1 or with decent compliments like (Meachum, Royal, or even Manninham). I never thought Miami would give up their best offensive player.......and for two 3rds and think about next years third has an equal value as a 4th this year. Miami got robbed! Our next focus will be DE, S or OLT. Since we resigned Tim Jennings, I see the team drafting a CB early. Bears know how to make splashes!
