I kinda hope Gabriel takes a back seat. Wims and Ridley need to be the future.
-
Whatever they changed, I like it. I like the swagger this team shows when they are playing well. I wish they had this when the team was 100% healthy. Their backs are against the wall now, at least they will have some momentum going into next year of they continue playing well. Then we get to year 3 of Nagys offense installments and choreography with synchronized dance moves are implemented. The Bears will become the greatest show on turf, over taking the Rams.

Mahomes vs Watson vs Trubisky Last Quarter of Season
ASHKUM BEAR replied to adam's topic in Bearstalk
Gabriel's injury opened the door for Miller and Wimms. Both had a good game and deserve more opportunities. Gabriel is a nice piece to the Wr core, but I am all for passing the torch and using him in special packages only giving the kids their chance. -
I think if Miller explodes in production, he will also explode in diva-land. He already has trouble holding it back. Since he has been called out by Nagy, he has been producing more.

I think Massie could get replaced, Leno will not be. Leno has been pretty good protecting MT, penalties are another story. ESPN has him ranked 4th among OTs. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/27584726/nfl-pass-blocking-pass-rushing-rankings-2019-pbwr-prwr-leaderboard%3fplatform=amp

There is a G from Michigan that should be around rd 2 that is known as a power run blocker. They just brought in a G/C off another teams practice squad, so I feel they will not be drafting too high here.
-
Possibly, but I have a hunch OLB/TE/CB will end up the picks. Trubisky will be here next year and he will be starting at the beginning, I do think they grab one this draft. They might want a G to replace Long unless they think that person is already on the team (Cowherd/Barr). Massie and Lenos contracts are not going away, I doubt they invest high unless a can't miss talent is there. At OLB, they will have Mack. Floyd will more than likely get released as well as Lynch. I think one 2nd rounder has to go to OLB and they will also sign a vet (someone with Pagano connections?). The other 2nd rounder is the wildcard with trade down, QB, OL, CB, TE. CB and TE will have bigger holes with Prince, Burton, and Shaheen most likely all gone. If Burton cannot be cut, they cannot count on him.

They should be able to find one with a round 2 pick you would think. No need to get cute and trade up. Take solid players from good programs and if someone offers future picks to trade down, do it.

Whether Trubisky can be our guy or not, the Bears need to hedge on that bet. I hope he can figure it out and be Drew Brees 2.0 if not it is time to get someone in to push him and no longer coddle him. 2- QB Jalen Hurts - Could be a Prescott of the future. Been in big games, can do it with legs or arm. Or QB Jake Fromm (statefarm) to keep the Georgia connection alive. He has less upside but capable of playing sooner (Kirk Cousins comparisons) 2 - OLB. Julian Okwara ND or Terrill Lewis Ala - The Bears need an answer opposite of Mack. Floyd has not produced and cannot be counted on to. 4 OT Hakeem Adeniji KS - need to start piping in talent on the OT's 5 TE Matt Bushman BYU 5 OLB Zack Baun - the Bears need a couple OLBs to replace Lynch and Floyd. If Floyd can be kept on a reduced contract, they might be able to go OT/G here. 6 CB TJ Carter Memphis- they have hit on late round DBs before with Amos 6 CB Tony Pride ND - double up on CBs, need to find someone that can step in to replace Prince 7 S Jeremy Chinn - Southern Illinois

I thought this would have been the year for Floyd. He is another that will be released, go to NE and be effective. He might be better suited as a situational pass rusher and his 5th year contract is not worthy of those services...unless you put up double digit sacks. Prince would have to take a big paycut to stay as well, he is on the steep downhill decline. The Bears need youth at the position. So how do they address these needs? They will have to live with some of these and pray they elevate their game.

Most of the teams woes point to coaching. Nagy needs to drop the play calling and work on just getting the team prepared. His offense could the greatest in the NFL, but when the team is not mentally ready this late in the year, that is on him. I don't want to start all over, I want this ship righted.
-
I'd be good with kicking those tires. I think Mitch will eventually get it, he is taking alot in and he is not the only one struggling with Nagy's offense. Nearly the entire offense except for Robinson is having difficulties. Nagy has said it takes 3-5 years to fully understand or to open the whole playbook. This is year 2. Our patience is not on par with the curve. Is it worth the growing pains when other NFL teams seem to do better with their young QBs? Are we willing to start over which also restarts a new learning curve?
-
It will be live and die with the combo (Pace, Nagy, and Mitch). The Bears will benefit with a weaker schedule and can add some talent to key positions. They need to improve Oline and TE, that is where I see the two 2nd rounders going. Bring in a veteran QB and draft a high ceiling project in rd 4. Mitch may come around, if not someone solid will be behind him and a rookie. I'd like to see a speed threat WR with a little more size brought in too.
-
I find it hard to believe the best oline coach cannot get a better performance out of the money the Bears spent. Something doesn't click, maybe it is the Bears luck or maybe there is something bigger to it.
-
Remember when you found out that the WWF was scripted. It was heart wrenching. I do find it hard to believe the NFL can be unless it is kept between refs and maybe coaches. The refs side, I can see it.
-
And we have been stacking guard/centers the past few years. Massie and Leno have no competition to take their bread.
-
I have been waiting for OT to be addressed for 10 plus years. Columbo, fail, Carimi fail, William's fail. Leno made it, but he is far from average lol. 7th rounder tho. OT is tough, you have to double dip because most end up as guards.

Just read updates on this whole circus. Kap pulled out of this try out. This was nothing but a stunt, media bashing the Bears for not falling for it need to apologize.

I cannot stand the radio anymore. It is 24-7 ragging on the cities teams. I tune in to feel good not have someone downing my day. I almost prefer twitter, I can slide right by the garbage.
