Justin Fields at 11
It just hit me that I don’t have to try to talk myself into Mills/Mond/Trask tonight and got happy about the pick all over again.

Bears Free Agency 2021
I have to say, obviously we all have varying issues with Pace, but one thing he seems to be pretty good at is filling out the roster prior to the draft with players with starting experience so that he can go into the draft without a true need and go by his board. I mean, as things stand now, I’d say the only position we probably still need to address is starting caliber safety (even though I happen to think Deon Bush can still be pretty good) and maybe another veteran body at WR. There are lots of those still out there and I imagine those will still be addressed.

Bears Free Agency 2021
Most of the posts/replies I’ve seen from Broncos fans seem to suggest he is better at G than T, for what it’s worth.

10 tight ends
Am I the only one not entirely ready to give up on Shaheen? I don't exactly expect him to be anything at this point, but if you are looking at what they can be at their best and deciding between, say, Braunecker and Shaheen, whose cap hits are about the same after June 1, I'd like to see Shaheen given one more shot. Maybe he's more of a U TE and can be the back-up (and maybe learn from) Graham. Maybe he gets one more chance to stay healthy. Maybe he sucks and we cut him later anyway. But the Bears don't need the $1.8 million the would gain by cutting him at the moment. I know Braunecker has some ST value, but so do a lot of guys on this team.

Bears Sign S Tashaun Gipson
So there’s your safety help. The guy seems curious to me - always thought he was more of a FS, so I’m not sure he paints great with EJ, and he’s coming off an injury. I wouldn’t presume he gets handed the starting job over Bush.

WHAT'S NEXT
Another addition - WR/return man Trevor Davis. Makes some sense. They got a speed WR in the draft, but Mooney isn’t a return guy (not sure why). Patterson and Cohen are the return starters but not much depth behind them.

WHAT'S NEXT
Just as we all thought, the next move was . . . Signing John Jenkins.

Cole Kmet
So I guess the most apt comparison is Dallas Goedert, right? They were both second round tight ends to serve as the Y TE in similar offenses. I've heard comparisons to Kyle Rudolph and Jason Witten, but both those guys are those teams' primary pass catcher. So Goedert had 33/334/4 TDs his rookie year and 58/607/5 TDs last year (which is a little inflated because his best game was when he came in as the Y when Ertz got hurt and he started at least one other came when Ertz was hurt). So, I guess a good year from Kmet as a Y tight end would be 30-40 catches, 300-400 yards and 4-5 TDs? Keep in mind Goedert was a much more productive TE in college than Ertz, albiet at a much lower level of competition. Would people be happy with that production on a yearly basis from a 2nd round tight end? The other thing I wonder, with all this talk about Kmet being a perfect Y tight end, is, when the Bears move on from Graham in a year or two, do the Bears expect Kmet to step into the U position, or will they keep Kmet at the Y and need a new U tight end?

Cole Kmet
So, I keep hearing that Kmet is a classic Y tight end with Graham serving as the U tight end. The U tight end is the one that moves around, goes in the slot, etc. and is primary pass-catcher in this offense (Kelce in KC, Ertz in Philly). So, what is the actual value of the Y tight end in this offense, statistically speaking? Who was the Y in KC and what was their production? I’m struggling to think of another productive TE in KC since Krlce’d been there. How did the Y in Philly produce? I assume maybe it’s Goedert(?).

Jaylon Johnson
Texted a friend of mine in compliance at Utah about Johnson (who I trust and would tell me if there were any red flags). The response: “He’s ****ing awesome. Great kid. Super hard worker. Tough as nails. You will love him.”

UDFA Tracker
Bears sign Yale OL Dieter Eiselen and LSU OL Badara Traore. Also Artavis Pierce, RB, Oregon State and Ahmad Wagner, TE, Kentucky. Anthony Gordon to the Seahawks, though there’s some question as to whether it’s final.

Only guy I’ve seen so far for Bears is Lacale London, DL, WIU. JR Reed signed with someone else (Jags I think).

You wanted replacements for Leno and Massie, you got it: Arlington Hambright and Lachavious Simmons. I’ve never heard of either of these fellows. Good Scrabble names!

Guesses for last two picks? I’ll say Jeremiah Dinson and Javon Leake.

Not much. Daryl Williams from Miss. St is a center with some guard flexibility. Maybe Throckmorton from Oregon, who has started at pretty much every OL position and so can pitch in anywhere if necessary. Otherwise you’re probably looking at college tackles that maybe have to kick inside in the NFL.

Actually looks like we have up both 6ths and a 7th and picked up a higher 7th. So we now have back to back picks in the 7th and no picks in the 6th. Mooney certainly fits the speed WR need. I don’t love his hands, but he fits the bill as a Taylor Gabriel replacement.

Your CB depth chart: Fuller, Johnson, Skrine, Roberson, Tolliver, Burns, Shelley, McManis, Joseph, Vildor, Denmark. How does Vildor make this team?

Kindle Vildor, CB, Georgia Southern. Why draft another CB? Pace gonna Pace.

Bears projected to have four comp picks next year, so some anticipated draft capital to work with.

For speed WR, I really like Joe Reed from Virginia. Maybe Trishton Jackson for Syracuse or Quez Watkins from So. Miss would fit too. Some like Mooney from Tulane as well. Is Shane Lemiuex still on the board? Replace an Oregon G with an Oregon G?

Cole Kmet
My concern is that I don’t really see any impressive catch and runs from him. It’s mostly catch and get tackled, maybe knock some guys over. I’m not sure what he can do in the open field. Watching his highlights, he reminds me of Zach Miller.

I guess, but I can’t really give Pace credit for readdressing a need because he spent $16 million not adequately addressing it.
