  1. Lot of chatter about the Packers taking Perryman in the first.
  2. Has Markus Golden been taken? He might be a bit of a boom or bust, but we haven't taken a pass rusher yet and seems like the kind of player Fangio could move around and get some solid use out of right away. Pace has mentioned you can never have too many pass-rushers.
  3. I know you're a solid "no" on Tartt, so I would say Grayson or Marcus Hardison.
  4. OK, by my math, we're about 24 hours from the Bears pick - so who will it be? I saw either Kevin White or Danny Shelton and will ultimately guess Shelton, because I think White will be gone. The Bears would love to trade down just a couple spots, but no farther than the Browns at #12 (Rams would be ideal) and get an extra pick. If the Browns trade up to #2, maybe the Bears would be OK trading back farther, but I think the Browns would take Shelton if the Bears didn't. As it stands, the Rams only have six picks and probably don't want to lose more and after that is the Vikings, and I doubt the Bears want to help them go up and get someone they like. Ratliff is the only NT on the depth chart. Shelton fixes that and at least answers one question on defense. My dark horse pick is Devante Parker. If White and Cooper are gone in the first six picks, that suggests to me that the 1st round will be chock full of receivers, and suddenly guys you had hoped you could get in the 2nd (Dorsett, Agholar, DGB) go in the first and you're left with Greene or Coates in the 2nd. If the Bears want a guy opposite Jeffery this year, they may need to take Parker in the first. Plus it keeps him from going to the Vikings and reuniting with Bridgewater.
  5. It sucks, but he is looking up at guys like Dennis Pitta and Jared Cook making more than him. Maybe he can be included in a trade up somewhere. Problem is, as others mentioned, this is weak TE draft and The Bears don't gave a real replacement for him.
  6. It's funny to me that everyone's first response to the Ray (and Gregory, and Collins, etc.) stuff is "how stupid can you be, this will drop him out of the first round", then the next reaction is "I hope our team can get him in the second." I am skeptical of any of those guys falling as far as people seem to think they will.
  7. Wasn't Clemmings a projected first round pick not long ago?
  8. Rumor making the rounds on twitter that the Rams want to move DL Michael Brockers and there's talk of a swap of Brockers & #10 to Bears for #7. Rams could go up and get White/Cooper. Bears add to DL and still in a position to get a good player. Brockers reportedly wants a new deal, but has had some injury problems. Also, not quite sure where Brockers fits in a 3-4, he's big (6'5" 325), but the draft reports I've seen list him as a better fit at 4-3 DT or possibly 3-4 end. Probably typical pre-draft smoke, just passing it along.
  9. It's all over twitter, but I haven't seen a linkable version. Of note, it lists only one NT, Ratliff. Sutton, Ferguson, and Washington are all listed at DEs. Allen, Bass, Houston, McPhee, and Young are all listed at LBs.

    What if

I heard the same thing about Robert Gallery.

    What if

Agree. He may be a great guard, but is he so much better than a guy like Laken Tomlinson or AJ Cann that you can get in the 2nd or maybe even 3rd round? I kind of doubt it.
  12. I see a lot of the same names in the mock drafts, and for good reason, but since every year is a surprise, I figured I'd try to come up with a realistic Bears mock of guys I haven't seen much on, to see what people might think: 1) Bud Dupree, DE/LB, Kentucky - I think this is high, but I've seen more and more mock that have him ahead of Beasley, Ray, and Gregory, so if Fowler goes top 4 and the Bears go edge rusher, he could very well be the pick. 2) Quinton Rollins, DB, Miami (OH) - Defensive player of the year with only one year of college football experience piques my interest. Might be the ballhawking safety we are looking for. 3) Rashad Greene, WR, Florida State - If we wait on WR based on our BPA rankings, this seems like the best fit as far as a potential starter in the third round. Not very big, but put up big stats against big competition and polished route running. 4) Mitch Morse, OL, Missouri - Late riser who has played G, OT, and C. Might be able to step right in and play at our weakest o-line position. I think worse case scenario, he's a future staring center. 5) Rakeem Nunez-Roches, DT, Southern Miss - Potential all-name team is a possible fit at end or NT in our scheme 6) Justin Cox, CB, Mississippi State - Big fast CB for depth. Could also be a safety.
  13. I never knew what the Tucker scheme was, so I'm not sure I ever used that phrase. Kind of the problem, IMO.
  14. Should have included Kenny "Afro Thunder" Bell.
  15. I'm starting to wonder if Nick Marshall (yes, the former QB from Auburn) might be a really good fit for Fangio's scheme at CB. Great size, ,ran a 4.54 40, had a team-leading 5 tackles in the Senior Bowl and shockingly didn't seemed lost at CB. With the signing of Alan Ball, we don't need an immediate starter, so he could be brought along slowly this year. Something to maybe look for on day three.
  16. I actually quite like this. I could quibble with the late round picks (I'd prefer Jarrett over Drummond and I'm not sure if White #2 fits the Fangio scheme), but those are all talented players at a reasonable spot.

    RB at #7?

I would be legitimatly mad if we used the #7 pick on someone who won't help us this year, especially since we have a guy in Kadeem Carey who looked good in limited touches last year and deserves a shot to replace a Forte, IMO.
  18. DeVante Parker and Danny Shelton

    Which round

It depends so much on what we are looking for. For instance: DT - If you're talking "big 330+ NT", then I think you're right about needing to get one in the first. But if its true that Fangio's scheme doesn't require that kind of size, then there's mid-late round guys (Chucky Hunter, Joey Mbu, Grady Jarrett, David Parry) who would fit the bill and be good value if that's what Fangio is looking for. OLB/DE - I would say there's value here in the 2nd round as well with guys like Eli Harold, Nate Orchard, the LB from Washington whose name I can't spell. For instance, I personally think there's less of a difference between those guys and Gregory/Ray/Fowler/Beasley than between a 2nd round WR (say Devin Smith or Agholar) and White/Cooper. But I agree it's pretty slim pickings after that. OT - I think value for a potential LT dries up in the 2nd and maybe the 3rd (Sambrailo? Donovan Smith?) and for a RT who might be able to play reasonably soon in the 4th (Daryl Williams, Jamon Brown, Rob Haverstein). OG/C - I see value around the 5th and maybe even 6th round. I think you can get the last man standing between guys like Gallik, Finney, Mason, Dismukes, and Garcia and still have a future starter at C/G. ILB - I think there's a little more depth here than you do. I think you're right that the value is probably in the second as far as getting a potential stud/immediate starter, but I like plenty of mid-round guys (Jeff Luc, Jake Ryan, Taiwan Jones). FS - I don't really see too many FSs I'm interested in that figure to be around after the third round, although given the lack of depth, I personally worry about a run on the FSs in the second. If Randall, Smith, and Harris go, suddenly you're staring at Gerod Holliman and his very questionable tackling ability. I'll also add WR. Everyone talks about this being a deep WR draft, and it is if you are looking for contributors, but if you're looking for a potential starter at an outside spot (as I presume the Bears are doing), you pretty much need to pull the trigger by your pick in the second at the earliest (if Agholar or Smith are still around) because the next batch figure to be slot guys (Dorsett, Lockett, Crowder), unless maybe a guy like Coates or Greeene slips or you really like Tre McBride. So maybe the lesson is to try to get as many picks in the 2nd/3rd as possibly by trading down and take advantage of some of the value in those rounds.
  20. We must be moving the needle because new mock drafts from McShay and Doug Farrar (SI.com) both have the Bears taking Williams.
  21. He also got cut by the Raiders and Titans, which does not fill me with confidence.
  22. QB Tyler Wilson (2013 fourth round pick of the Raiders out of Arkansas) will participate in the Bears' minicamp next week. So, there's that.
  23. Am I the only one who is starting to think Leonard Williams is a legit possibility at #7? - The Bucs are taking Winston. - Mariota is going #2 to the Titans or someone else - The Jags seem to be leaning edge rusher, probably Fowler - Possible here, but the Raiders desperately need a WR. - The Redskins signed Paea, Knighton, and Jean-Francois this offseason, so DL is a low priority, though maybe value dictates he goes here. - The Jets are pretty stacked on the line. Barring a trade up, I can definitely see Williams slipping into out laps.
