And as always, you misunderstand the response. In fact, my whole stance on this started when people started saying that they would be better GM's, HC's, OC's, etc. I called BS on it and you guys started painting me in some "everything NFLers say is true" light, which BTW I have never EVER said anywhere. In fact, I agree with alot of what is said here and even by you. I have agreed with the Oline point forever with you guys, I agreed with you on your defense of Turner, I have agreed on the accountability issue. We have also had our differing opinions which is fine. But when you start saying that the opinions expressed on the board are actually worth something outside of the board, then I call BS. Unless someone posts that works in the NFL, our opinions dont have much value beyond the debates and banters of the board. And for the record, I agree Omiyale has looked like crap.

lol. I have agreed with some of the thoughts, especially the oline deal, the lack of accountability by the coaches, and the lack of leadership on defense. But make no mistake, if anyone here had the skill and talent to be an NFL GM, coordinator, or head coach, they would be. At best this board is the equivalent of a group of guys sitting around complaining about their team sipping some cool ones like the old days. We vent, banter, debate, celebrate, and discuss, but in no way do the words written on these boards make a bit of difference in the NFL universe. And the arrogance to think that it does is hilarity at its finest. Lets not make the message board more than it is.

Agreed. We have ripped the coaches to shreds. Now the microscope needs to be turned on the players. They are supposed to be PROFESSIONALS but go out and play like chumps. There is no leadership on defense at all.

If my boss screamed in my face I would laugh at him. That has nothing to do with it. But, back at the ranch, heads need to roll. People need to lose jobs. Screaming at people publicly does nothing. But he needs to hold people accountable with their jobs, and that is not happening and thats what needs to change or get someone who can.

Great point. I was surprised that the defense was that high, but it supports some posters claims that the defense is not as bad as the board is making them out to be.

Actually, I looked up some stats and we are tied for 10th in the NFL for sacks with 14. Tied with teams like the Giants and Ravens. Interestingly, we are also 10th for opponents QB rating against us. So really we are not bad at all in that catagory. In response to what you see when you flip channels, it entirely depends on alot of things. What teams are you flipping to, what kind of defense do they run, what is the state of the opponents oline, what type of offense is being run, how good are the teams, etc. Again, with the defensive talent we have, I'm hoping we blitz less and get more pressure with the front four.

The problem with blitzing is its a gamble. It creates holes in your defense. Good teams are always going to be able to take advantage of it unless you have an extremely talented defense. We dont have that talent. We blitz a ton already. Unfortunately, since teams know we have to blitz they are ready for it. Most of the time they can pick it up and/or hit the checkdowns. What really needs to happen is the DL needs to step it up and get pressure with a four man rush. Look at the reality here. We have a defense that encourages them to get upfield, be athletic, and rush the qb. We also have a guy who is recognized league wide for being one of the best DL coaches in the game, especially for this system. The DL is still not up to snuff so , in my mind, the blame goes squarely on them. Which I think is the reason we got Gaines Adams, to send notice to the individual players, especially the DE's. As far as the video game thing goes, there is no way you can relate Madden to the NFL as far as blitzing goes. The AI can't make the adustments that real people can. Heck, I can run the same blitz the whole game and get a LB 7 sacks. Do this. Have your son play a good real life player online. Have him blitz every play. He will get shredded. Especially if he picks a team with an average defense (which is comparable to what we have IMO).

I am in agreement with nfo that we dont really have the talent to blitz a ton. You are right when you say its gets picked up alot. When it does get picked, up we just dont have the talent behind it to be successful. Since its getting picked up I think we are better off with those guys in coverage. Hopefully Gaines Adams can either light a fire under the DL or take this opportunity to elevate his game, because we really need to get pressure with the front four. I think if that happens then we can blitz less and when we do blitz it will be more effective.

Good items. And your last point is where the staff should be taken to task on. Not the playcalling but the motivation and accountability aspect. A player like Omaliye should get killed in films and lose his job. This is the part I am disappointed in Lovie in as I thought when he first got here that he was an accountability guy. Whether you agree or not with the offense play calls and the defensive scheme, this type of sloppy play is unacceptable.
