  1. I've been saying 7 since he was hired. I didn't see how an OL guru/genius was a TE coach on the Jaguars especially when their TE's sucked. 8 I called as soon as he was promoted after coaching such a horrible line the year before. It didn't make sense for him to get promoted for that. A team can get by with the line sucking as much as this one has most of the year, so I wouldn't say it doesn't matter who the QB is. It wouldn't have mattered last nite tho cause that was just bad. Better QB's can deal with the amount of pressure that has been there this year. That said, they need to draft Offensive Linemen in every pick this year. I know that won't happen, but there is nothing there salvagable and it's that dire of a situation.
  2. The Bears D was due for a rough game. The offense however is the worst coached I've seen. It's night and day between San Frans OC and Tice.
  3. This is almost funny at this point. The Bears look horrible.
  4. The Bears Defense should thrive on this inexperienced QB. I expect the Bears to win the turn over battle, and the D steps up once again for the win. The offense will do just enough.

    Jason Campbell

I imagine going out there, not being able to time your passes to your WR's would be near impossible. He probably has thrown very little to any of the WR's that were on the field. This week it should be a lot better. Atleast he wasn't throwing picks I guess.
  6. I have no idea, but yea he got concussed on a special teams play i think at the beginning of the game.
  7. I'd have to say yes, no, and maybe for this year. The reason I think he has had a negative impact this year is the reliance that Cutler and Tice (Randy Ratio) has had on him this year. His presence takes looks away from other players. I think Cutler thinks, "Ok I need 10 yards where is Marshall", making him force it or hold on to the ball too long hoping Marshall will get open. I think it also leads to Tice thinking "I need to get the ball to Marshall X amount of times" or "We really needs this" and calls plays that aren't optimal or just gets away from the balance on offense that is needed. On the No side, Tice is inept, Cutler just ain't that great, and the OLine sucks. Tice was a failure as a head coach for the Vikings. He wasn't doing anything as the TE coach of the Jags, when The Bears decided to bring him in to be the OLine coach. He sucked as an Oline coach, so he gets promoted to a position he has never had, an OC. Tice seems like an awesome person, but he really sucks as a play caller and preparing the team each week. Just look at how bad they are in the first half each week. Cutler just isn't that great in my opinion, and I know other people don't agree. I'm not going to try to derail the convo commenting more on that. The poor play of the OLine may have helped caused the dependence on going to Marshall and his ability to come up with the ball when hes not open. The big reason no in general, he's one of the best WR's in the league and it's the job of the OC and QB to use him in a way to make this offense better. The maybe side, speculative on my part, but his addition has taken the offense away from going through Forte. Forte has been the focus of this offense for years. Now when Forte is used, it seems more forced. The offense now is flowing through Marshall. Offenses that do focus mostly on passing usually have more balance. In the least, there is more of a focus on players other than just the one WR than this team has in it's passing game. Overall, I say Brandon Marshall's addition is a major coup for the organization as he is proving to be a great player. However, I think this year he is indirectly hindering the team because of the ineptitude of others in the organization.

    Fool's Gold

On the score earlier, they said he is now an H-Back, or something like that. They said he's not even in the TE meetings and cause his position was changed.
  9. Yea I know, not usually. I was just trying to make the point that even with turn overs, the defense played so great we could have got past that. The offense was just that bad. I know the weather was bad, Houston has a really good D, and Campbell hasn't practiced with the starters, but this offense should have done a lot better with the field position that the D and special teams had, and the D making up for every turn over the O had. Great game by the D tonight, and the O was non existent.
  10. The Bears D negated those 4 turn overs. Houston's offense scored 3 points off of them and the Bears D set up the offense for their first field gal. The offense was just bad, turn overs or not.
  11. The San Fran game will be interesting with both Cutler and Smith concussed this week.
  12. The way Cutler was playing this game, we may be better off tonight with Campbell. A lot of concussions today tho.
  13. I say we punt on first down from now on. It will be better field position, since the O is turning it over everytime.
  14. They said they were going to double him and do what they have to. They need to use forte
  15. Looks like another game the D is going to have to win.
  16. I'd let Tillman, and only him miss a day for that. After what he went through with his daughter is unimmaginable, and once he came back and everything was good with her, he started playing his best football. I'd love to see him shut down Johnson, be in contention for defensive player of the year and so on, but I don't blame him for possibly missing and think it's honorable that Lovie is willing to say family first on this.
  17. Davis would be fine, if he could work on catching more than blocking. I imagine it's hard to get into a rhythm when you are have to work on pass blocking so much, and rarely called on to catch.
  18. I don't that often with these guys, but I have to give Rod Marnelli and Lovie Smith a lot of credit for the Defense they are fielding this year.
  19. The Bears D has scored as many TDs as they have given up this year, that's just crazy... What team have you ever been able to say that about 8 games in?
  20. And Rex Grossman was the reason the Bears went to the Super Bowl and Kyle Orton does nothing but win games. I'm sorry but it's been the Defense and not Cutler that makes this team a competitor, and has since he has been here. Forte has had a bigger influence. He has a below average QB IQ, with above average QB talent. Sometimes he will play to the above average talent and look great. Other times he will play down to the low QB IQ and be horrible. BTW, it's good he has the highest 4th QB rating this year, because he isn't even in the top 20 for QB rating in the first half. It'd mean a lot more if he was needed to win games at that point, which for the most part he hasn't. Like I said to Jason, I'm not going to go into whether he was worth the trade. I will say he hasn't played up to the billing. You can blame every other person on the offense, but after 7 years in the league he isn't getting any better. Yes, the line needs fixed and that will help, but he'll still have bad mechanics, still throw into triple coverage and still have those head scratcher games until he retires. Speaking of offensive line, how can you say that back up QB is a more pressing need? DLine depth was more important than the OLine? Replacing a special teams player was better than making a move to improve the line? Don't get me wrong I love the addition of Marshall, but did Marshall help Cutler achieve a better year than last? The line has been atrocious for years and ignoring it last year was ridiculous. Cutler is an average starter at best, and there is nothing wrong with that. The D is the best in the league imho, Marshall and Forte are top 5 in their positions, this team can win with an average QB. Here's lookin towards 7-1!!!
  21. He's more like one of the VW replicas of a Porche on doughnut tires to me. He's may look like he can tear up the road ahead, but he's just missing a lot of what is necessary to do that. That's just my opinion tho. I'm not the trade in the post before. I responding more to the idea of, if one side of the ball does good in one game then the other is going to be looked bad. I was just trying to say the O is bad. Jay and the whole offense have under performed this year. They will get negative remarks they deserve till they prove something like the D. The D won't get those negative remarks because they over performed and when they simmer down, they have already proven they are good.
  22. If I came on the board and predicted that Cutler would put up 3500 yards, 21 tds,18 ints, and 7 fumbles at the beginning of the season I would have been ripped to shreds on here. People were defending how good the line would be after another year of gelling and such. The production so far the offense has been bad. It says bad things about Emery and the coaches for not addressing the line. It says bad things about Tice for his ability to coach, recognize talent, play calling, and ability to fix problems. Jay just hasn't been good. He hasn't been 2 first round picks and big salary good this year. It's obviously not all on him, but there were expectations not being met. That and he is making stupid mistakes. He's forcing things, holding on to the ball, and does seem to get in ruts. He got in a rut the last game, but came out of it on the last 2 drives. The defense on the other hand will at some point be referred to as getting brought back to Earth at some point. Which is ok tho, they have played lights out for 7 games so far. I felt they would be one of the top D's this year, but this is ridiculous. I can't remember a team forcing as many turn overs or scoring so much over 7 games. The team is 6-1, the defense is awesome, and I'm ecstatic about that. It's possible that half the starting defense could be getting pro bowl consideration this year. Jennings has emerged and Tillman is having a career year. Briggs is steady as always, Urlacher is back at the helm of the defense, and the defensive line is being disruptive. There's a lot of good things to say about the Bears this year, it's just not offensively. Once they can step up against multiple teams, playing all 4 quarters like the defense has, then they can get their props too. Until then, they are getting as much credit as they deserve at this point.
  23. It's pretty sad when a team is more scared of your kick returner than your offense. That last FG may have been the nail in the coffin of this game.
  24. He should of yelled at himself, he got himself sacked quite a bit and played just bad. Plus, he was the one that wanted tall WR's in the offseason. He should have worried about protection then.
