  1. The problem seems to be that from the start of the game Cutler has been complaining to the officials about getting hit late and the lack of PI calls. In some instances it almost looks like the Bears receivers are more concerned with getting the penalty called than making the catch. Once it starts to spread around the league that a player complains a lot officials tend to swallow the whistle. In this past week's game Mike Kerry(sp?) considered one of the best in the league didn't over turn one call on the field when it went to review and I have never heard a referee say someone's shin hit out of bounds first before he maintained control of the ball.
  2. Again one thing that has started to bug me about the Chicago media is every time a player says something they go right to the head coach and ask him what he thinks about the comments. When it comes to Lovie you are going to get the same BS which amounts to nothing being said anyway so why not just report the players comments and let Lovie stew about it without being able to respond. At this point none of cares to hear his opinion anyway.
  3. The problem with Hester speaking is that once reporters went to Lovie with his comments he waffled and said that he was misquoted. Well Devin that is only true if your voice isn't being recorded. He should have stood behind his words because he didn't say them with any malice, he was just stating the obvious for an underacheiving team that hasn't been to the post season in 3 years. This is the type of crap that happens when a team plays this poorly and there is nothing to talk about other than speculation about the future.
  4. This is the right move. Pace on the field for meaningless games doesn't make since and Iglesias,Gilbert and Moore being inactive for the rest of the season would be dumb also. Its time to see if these guys have some promise for the future becuase in each case their development could be key in getting rid of a high priced vet.

    Draft Info

This is a pretty difficult decision for me since I promised to try and bring some draft info to this site. The team that we all root for has no 1st or 2nd round picks so I'm in a quandry as to where I should focus my posting of information that I have researched. Clearly we have to be looking at the 2nd or 3rd tier of prospects in the upcoming draft unless we can somehow get back into the first or second round. So my question to everyone is do you want me to list all the prospects at each position or should I narrow it down to what may be available when the Bears make their first pick in the 3rd round? The hard part of narrowing the field is I may omit someone who slips in the draft. So what do you all think? For example right now I have 15 QBs not counting those underclassmen who have yet to declare and I believe that atleast 7 of them will be gone before we make our first pick. The Bears don't need a QB since they have acquired Cutler and he has taken just about every snap this season so I could see trying to bring someone in to develop behind Cutler and Hanie with an eye on upgrading our 3rd string guy currently Bret Basanez. So with that in mind the Bears would probably go with a late round pick or an undrafted free agent. That eliminates guys like Colt McCoy and Jevan Snead etc. but, guys Like Riley Skinner Wake Forest and Billy Cundiff of Ashland fit in this category. So give me your opinion of what info you would like and what positions you would like to pin point. It does not matter to me because I am doing research of all the prospects and will share whatever info I have with you all.
  6. Ditto for me. Whatever his past transgressions were he seemed to have matured somewhat but, the impending investigation into his death may uncover somethings we haven't heard about(unfortunately).
  7. I believe Biggs has replaced John Mullin, who is writing on csnchicago.com and making regular appearances on Chicago Tribune Live on the Comcast sportnetwork here locally,as the Bears beat writer for the Trib.

    Playoff Chances

Nfo am I imagining this? It seems to me that the games the Bears play the most Cover 2 they get destroyed and in the games in which they have dropped an 8th man in the box with press coverage they have played a better run defense and pass defense.STL and the SF games come to mind. I have also seen a little more zone blitzing with the DEs dropping into coverage.
  9. I have a different read on this article. IMO Haugh is writing as if he were Ted Phillips and qualified that by saying he doesn't presume that he knows what Ted is thinking. He also threw some points in his Teddy speech that sounds like the Bears expect a lockout to occur and who gets paid during lockouts? Coaches and GMs.Thus by retaining both Lovie and JA they won't be on the hook for both them and a new coach and GM during a work stoppage. So in essence he is writing what more than likely ma be the scenario that plays out this offseason. I'm not saying I agree with the article because if Ted doesn't think that both the coaching and the talent isn't suspect he needs to be replaced also. The other alarming thing that comes to mind with this scenario is that maybe the Bears won't replace Turner with an OC from outside but may promote from within like in the past with John Shoop and give Pep Hamilton the job(I just went in the bathroom to hurl). For the record every beat reporter snuggles up to the teams they cover here in Chicago and makes me want to puke some times with some of the fluff pieces they write and "softball" interviews they conduct so as not to ruffle any feathers of management or the players. You can throw Haugh in with all the others including Brad Biggs,Zack Zaidman,Jeff Dickerson,John Mullin and Mike Mulligan. Most of the negative columns about these teams are done by the columnists like Morrisey and Rosenbloom. Boy do I miss Bernie Lincicome who did give a damn who he pissed off and believe it or not the Score's own Terry Boers was that way when he wrote a column.
  10. Absolutely righty Jason because Lance Briggs was taken in the same round and that is a great pick is Garrett Wolfe is not on the same planet as Briggs.
  11. CB I couldn't put it any clearer than you did so if anyone is holding back their feeling because fo Lovie's ethnicity, screw that. BTW when you say exit stage left it remind me of an old school cartoon character called Snaggle Puss. You familiar?
  12. The bloom is off that rose. I won't say I was a staunch defender of Lovie but I was willing to pull for the "Brotha". That all changed when he decided he would continue to talk in coach speak and basically ruined my Sundays(or Game Days). When it comes to the Bears I'm not sitting here starring at a Malcolm X poster and reciting Martin Luther King's "I Have A Dream" speech, I am first and foremost looking for the Bears to win the game they play. Taking my ethnicity out of the equation Lovie sucks as bad as Herm Edwards did in KC. Maybe he is one of those guys that just needs to be a coordinator like Romeo Crennel, Kevin Gilbride ,Dick Le Beau and Dom Capers. I truly believe that he is in way over his head and its starting to show up big time. If I put it out there at work that I was going to make sure a problem got solved with me over seeing it,I would have some explaining to do.When Lovie is asked a question you don't walk away feeling you got a straight answer.
  13. They extended his contract before the last one expired so that is why it seems so long.
  14. I just want to wish everyone a Happy Thnaksgiving and say thank you for giving me a forum to discuss the sport that I truly love. May all you and your families continue to be blessed and may the food that you recieve provide a backbone for your continue strive for being your best. God Bless You All !!!
  15. Good job Jason you hit it right between the eyes. Those of us who have followed the team throughout a few decades know that since we had Jim Finks drafting philosophy we have had limited success.Finks believed in the philosophy it starts up front on both sides of the ball and he woould draft lineman until he got a Dan Hampton or Tom Thayer or Jimbo Covert and Mark Bortz. Then he didn't rest with the draft but searched the waiver wire and came up with a Hilgenberg or a McMichael. Finks believed heavily in the front seven on defense and his tenure in Minn, Chicago and NO prove that theory. To bad Mikey chased him away or maybe this frnachise would be looked at as a model.
  16. Nfo Cutler just recieved a big check from the McCaskeys so of corse he is considered their biggest asset. BTW there are reports also circulating that Mike Martz is on the horizon to come in to help his friend with the QB he criticized.
  17. It seems like hes rattled now. I think the hits have started to effect him on the field.

    Im sorry but

The thought of Weis coming here as OC would be for him to tutor Cutler and seeing how he has developed Claussen from what he was his first year at ND is proof enough to me that he knows how to work with QBs. I'm not saying Claussen is a world beater but he has improved dramatically and Weis deserves credit for recruiting him and working with him. I saw Claussen play in that HS All Star game sponsored by the ARMY and he was pretty highly touted. Weis has made him better. I personally don't like Weis beacuse he seems a little arrogant but if he were OC here I'd want him to be successful. The various ways he gets the ball to Golden Tate makes me think he could beter utilize Hester and Wolfe.
  19. The knock on him coming out was his won and lost record and so far during his pro career he still hasn't gotten that monkey off his back. For all the talent he has Vandy had a horrible record while he was there. IMO you can tell from his first throw if he is going to be sharp or not. In the last 3 games he has been throwing the ball high to just about everyone and that was true last night.
  20. The one thing I've noticed JA does is that he will draft players from some of the same schools. So with that being said I will be looking at the rosters of Vandy. Oklahoma and Abilene-Christian to see who he will add to the squad next year. I may take a peek at Texas A&M Kingsville's roster also since that was one of Tampa's favorite schools( Where JA came from) and Garza is an alum. So I'll give you a name OL Tony Washington 6-7 305 Abilene Christian and while I'm at it lets give Jay a toy to play with also Ricardo Lockette 6-3 200 4.3 40 Bethel College

    Im sorry but

My take on this whole situation is that it is time to pull the plug on Lovie and JA. People arguing in favor of his winning Pct. isw like saying he is the tallest midget. After all these years his system should be fully established but every year since the SB they have had to tinker with his signature Cover 2 defense and its mediocre along with his few games over 500 Pct.This coaching staff is starting to resemble all the previous inept ones since Ditka's staff. Lets face it the likelyhood of them eating Lovie's contract maybe a fantasy but, I didn't see the Cutler trade coming either.
  22. Bingo Turner lacks the ability to scout his own tendancies and whenever his offense struggles he scales back the play book instead of opening it up more especially at this point in the season you should be adding not subtracting.
  23. As with all defenses teams run variations of them as do the Bears. The original version of the Cover 2 was run by the Steelers of the 70's and they had a HOF CB in Mel Blount plus 2 HOF LBs and an HOF DT. The next best team to run the defense was Tampa in the early part of this decade with a group of 4 potential HOF players including Ronde Barber at CB. He along with Warren Sapp, Derrick Brooks and John Lynch could get voted into Canton in the future. The next tier of teams that ran this scheme are the Colts and the Bears with the Colts having 2 potential HOF player on D (Freeney and Sanders) and the Bears having maybe one Urlacher or Briggs. This shows why the Bears have had limted success running this scheme. Their talent has not been on par with the other teams I mentioned above. The other problem is you have to have a ball control offense to keep this defense off the field because with today's rules players can't be as physical as the Steelers of the 70's could and even the Bucs. Thus allowing teams more time to pick this defense apart. To continue to run this scheme without adressing the lines and trying to get some potential HOF players is stupid. The likely-hood of that happening without top draft picks playing to their potential and not having them at all doesn't sit well with me.
  24. I rarely do this but win or lose the Bears and Eagles have played close games under Lovie and actually had a comeback win with Brian Griese at QB. Bears 17 Eagles 14
  25. NFO the one thing the Eagles have in their favor to offset their lack of secondary help is that they get after the QB. They are tied for second in sacks and that poses a terrible match up with our OL As for Philly's O LeSean MCCoy will poses a problem for the Bears as will their underated TE Celek. I noticed the Bears played very little Cover 2 last week and wonder if that trend continues against Andy Reid's pass happy offense.
