Yep. Hicks is the big must get. If we sign Hicks, we could still easily draft a 5 technique with the #11 pick. That's how thin we are. That being said, I am a bit surprised we allocated so much $$$ to the ILB position. We are now spending 10 million per year. That's a lot of money for two guys who are good but not great.
-
Yep. He basically said it because he's tight with Randall Cobb. If you read it in print, I can see why someone would think "WTF???" When you here the actual conversation you realize they were laughing and joking around. Either way, let's be honest--these guys are hired guns. It's a business. If any other team offered him 4 years 40 million, he's playing for that team.
-
It's being reported he had offers from New England and Jacksonville. He was probably happy to stay near his hometown of Peoria, IL.
-
Actually I don't think Philly's trading up to #8 went through. Instead they exchanged 4th round picks or something like that.
-
So you are saying it was a bad deal at the time. But now it's a really good deal. So we shouldn't have done it even though it's a really good deal? Because maybe we could have traded him or something? With Manumaleuna, that was a bad deal at the time. Nobody was paying him what we paid him. We got hosed. But Chester Taylor's deal was realistic and seemed good at the time. Don't forget we also signed Orlando Pace which also proved to be awful. Getting back to Cutler, who do you think we could have had if we hadn't extended him? How would NOT extending him make this team better?
-
What sucks is that according to Brad Biggs, Forte signed a two year deal and the reason we haven't heard how much $$$ was because it wasn't good.
-
Last year, did we sign him before or after we drafted Langford? Cause we had Matt Forte and Kadeem Carey. With Forte, we were in much better shape last year in terms of the running back position. I'm just pointing out that it's still quite possible we use a pick on the running back position.
-
Damn good point. Although I don't think Shea is getting 2 million. Brad Biggs just tweeted it sounds like we will be meeting with Akiem Hicks in person. After today I imagine we sign a ton of guys for one year prove it deals. That will allow us to be major players in free agency again next year.

But you're ignoring the fact he's a pain in the ass. Brad Biggs was asked about the Bennett for Graham rumor and his response was, "I don't think the Seattle coaching staff wants another Bennett bitching about money and play calling." Let me ask you this: did you think we'd get more in trade for Brandon Marshall last year?

Massie is getting 6 mil per, Trevathan 7-8, and Tracy porter 5, that means we have about 26 million to spend. DE is still a priority and we need to figure something out with the TE position. How the hell we going to spend 26 million?
-
Massie got 3 years 18 million.
-
Yikes. That article ain't flattering.
-
I'd be much happier if he starts camp as the #4.
-
That seems like a ton for a guy who didn't make any big plays. David Haugh said he was one helluva a locker room guy which helped.
-
Interesting. We have one helluva a right side of the o-line. Brad Biggs says it was a 3 year deal. No details on money yet.
-
3 year deal as per Brad Biggs. Now we just need a nickel-back . . .
-
What I'm wondering is this by accident or design? We went hard after guard Jeff Allen presumably to play RG. We get outbid and then sign Massie to play RT. Was this just a matter of getting the best player available and figuring out the rest later? Here's a better question: if Leno sucks do we move Long to LT?
-
Yep. I always hated see Julius Peppers make big plays against the Bears. I'm glad we don't have to see him. Lamar Miller signed with the Texans for 4 years 26 million with 14 million guaranteed. I'll bet Forte's deal is close to that.
-
I was thinking the same thing.
-
Agreed 100%. He's a nice #2 TE option. You figure 2 years 3-4 million. What's crazy is supposedly he was asking for 5 million per.
-
Knighton would be ideal. Especially after a bad year in Washington where he would come cheap. I think he signed a one year 5 million $$$ prove it deal with the Skins. He proved he wasn't good outside of Denver.
-
You forget that most of this has been done already. With Bennett, we heard last Friday his agent was involved in shopping him. The Bears want him gone and his salary off there books. Some team will be thrilled to get a complete TE. I predict he goes to Atlanta for a 6th round pick . . .
-
David Burton was rumored like a month ago. He's a fringe starter so he doesn't have a ton of value. That immediately makes him the best player on the Bears secondary . . .
